Pros: Relaxed and good customer service. Was able to drop off the car at a different location than I picked it up, in fact was able to leave it at my hotel and they picked up the car there. There was a little bit of leeway on the amount of gas to keep in the car upon return. Overall, very happy with the price, service, and the vehicle.
Cons: No negatives or surprises which is always nice.

Surprises at every turn
Cons: Two major issues:
1) The rental agent tried to convince me at the counter at pickup that I should never use Kayak insurance - essentially trying to upsell me on Dollar's insurance
2) Twice I had to argue with them about fees. Both times they claimed that my rate had changed b/c I showed up either 10 mins too early or 10 mins too late (at pick up and drop off, respectively). Unfortunately, these changes would have resulted in an additional $600 in fees (on a $200 rental), which is clearly outrageous. Luckily I was able to work with them and they acted reasonably.

I will definitely rent from Dollar Car Rental agai
Pros: The location was good for both pick up and drop off. A shuttle brought us from the airport and took us back. The car was nice, clean, it was a very good value compared to what other companies had to offer.
Cons: There was a long line to pick up. The person who helped us kept on trying to sell (or make us pay) for things we didn't need, like EZPass and other things and told us that if we returned the car early we'll get charged an early return fee, which was not true.
Other than that nothing bad to say.

Forgotten by Dollar at the Boston Airport Location
Pros: Nissan drives very smoothly. The toll payment option more than paid for itself.
Cons: After choosing the car that I wished to drive, the Boston airport location failed to assign the correct car to my contract. In fact, they failed to assign any car at all !!! I was treated rudely when by the employees in the drop-off area when returning the car. They also did not give me a receipt when I requested one. Thus, I was forced to go to the Dollar office on the second floor to get a printed receipt.

Cons: Check in at the counter was a hassle. Tried to use debit card which was not accepted. Maybe it was mentioned in the fine print, I don't know, but I still don't understand why that's not an acceptable form of payment considering all the information they require of you. The agent did not outline other acceptable forms of payment until asked. Fortunately my wife had her credit card handy.

Great value but be prepared to wait
Cons: We have rented several times from dollar. Cars are good and mostly clean, however, pickup is a nightmare. Different cities same issue, not enough staff to deal with the amount of people. This last time, we spent 2 hours in line. Unacceptable.

Pros: Very good experience on a one week one way rental. Definitely take the prepaid easy pass for toll roads- otherwise you will end up paying more and stopping every time at all these toll booths, if you have to drive quite a bit.

Cons: Check in at Boston Logan Budget desk was really poor. This was a prepaid booking and upon approaching the counter I was told that the class of car I had booked was not available. The class was a 'standard - Chrysler 200c or similar'. I was told that we could be upgraded to a small 4x4 which I thought, okay fine. There was no mention of cost for this upgrade until signing the T&Cs at the end of the booking on the machine that I noticed it was an additional $5 a day. When I asked about this, the lady said she could put me in a 2 door car without any upgrade cost. That would mean I would be receiving a car below the grade I had booked but paying the same. She would not upgrade for free so I had to pay the $5 a day more for this larger car.
I realise the cost is minimal but I would like to think the principle is that if the car you book & prepay for is out of stock, you get upgraded to the next size up free of charge. Not rushing to book with budget again, that's for sure when there's so many options in that one terminal. Disappointing and rude service.

Cons: Arrived at the rental car center at 1100p. There were 40-50 people in the line at Budget, with only 3 staff working the counter. It was taking 7min-10min to process a customer.
... There werected only a couple people at the other agencies, so I went to Enterprise and was on my way in 10min - and the same car cost me $100 less than at Budget.

Cons: waiting over an hour for a car that was supposed to be reserved, the agent couldn't speak english, the car we got did not have the xm radio we paid for. We had to go back to the airport and exchange the car after being on the phone for 2 hours trying to get the radio to work. Wasted half the day on that. We paid for the ez pass for tolls, it didn't work, so we ended paying another $150 in tolls from MA to VA.
Pros: After arguing with them they removed the charge for the extra day.
Cons: Very rude people. The location of the cars is in a parking structure that will take you anywhere from 5-15 mins to enter or leave. But this is not taken into consideration for the timing of the vehicle. So if you are 15 mins late (even though our actual rental started 30 mins late due to wait for car and the parking structure) which we were they will try to charge you for an extra day! And when you dispute it they get all high and mighty and rude. Not to mention we requested a toll tag while renting, which they never gave us. So we spent the entire trip trying to avoid toll booths because Alamo would have charged us for that otherwise (I called and checked).

Cheaper than the airport
Pros: Great place to pick up car when if leaving Boston after a few days. We arrived at Logan airport, took a shuttle to our hotel, stayed a few days in Boston without a car and then picked up our rental at this Alamo's convenient downtown location. Prices were significantly lower than at the airport offices. It was easy to drive back to the location for the drop off when we were flying out of Logan on our return flight. We avoided rush hour, followed Google Maps and didn't have any issues. Since we had some large bags we called Uber, who arrived in 3 minutes, and we were at the airport in 15 minutes at a cost of $16.20.

Cons: I had booked my car rental 4 months in advance to ensure I would get the car I wanted for a road trip through New England. However, when I got to Thrifty they said they could not find the keys for the car I had requested. I had wanted a small car to save on gas mileage and the elevation I would be driving on. Instead they gave me a mid size car that went through a lot of gas. Also, the car reeked of cigarette smoke. The smell was so strong we had to invest in air freshners which did very little for the smell. I had tried spraying perfume as well which was only a momentary fix. We kept the windows down for most of the drive. When we would turn on the AC, a very sour smell would come through the vents. Also, we had been told rolls would be covered; however, before leaving we told the car had not been registered to EZ Pass so we would be responsible for all tolls, which added up.
Long story short, do not rent from this company.

Cons: - Car was very dirty when I picked it up, including the inside of the windows (smudged)
- Car was VERY LOUD on the highway (anything above 40 mph) and the rear cabin shook. Seemed as though there was a rear tire misalignment. I felt unsafe driving the car on the highway.
- Customer service was useless. I called the first day I had the car to see if I could exchange it for a different one at another Thrifty location (I was traveling alot). Lady could not help me find another Thrify location or guarantee that I would get another car.
- I will never rent from Thrifty again.

Pros: That after much insistence I was given the ca class reserved and being charged.
Cons: At the counter was asked if want a costly insurance or ok just with basic, as if the basic was not an up charge, yet it was. Of greater annoyance was reserving a Ford Focus or equivalent and having to argue in the garage pickup that a Ford Fiesta is the equivalent of a Focus just because Hrifty considers it to be.
Cons: I reserved a full size SUV and they gave me a RAV4 and said it was similar. It was not large enough and they would not correct it so I asked them to cancel it. The rep told me I had to go hunt the manager down myself. When I refused he called him. After a 15 minute wait I was told they cancelled it but didn't want to give me a receipt until I insisted. Another rep then told me to "shut up about it". Never rent from them in Boston! I have used them elsewhere and they were fine

Things were great once I got in the car
Pros: The Kia Sol was nice to find in mid-size. I enjoyed the car and checking out the features.
Cons: All-in-all, I had lots of issues renting, as it was expected that I was a visitor to the state, and no one at any of the rental places made it clear what that meant I needed to bring or do differently until I was already in the location, an hour out of my way. Getting into the rental location was a pain, and took numerous loops around the building to get the right entrance. I ended up paying more than twice the expected amount because I didn't know to bring proof of my own insurance, so the only place that would rent to me charged a premium.

Pros: Customer service and process for picking up the automobile was easy and hassle free.
Cons: The Hyundai Elantra I was given had scrapes, scratches and dents in over a dozen locations. The flat tire warning light was on when I picked up the car and I eventually had to stop and put air in all four tires in order to get the light to go out.

The person behind the counter shared that there were only 4 total employees (including the manager) at that location and that it was unlikely that one of them would be able to help customers at the desk. While some wait was expected, an hour and a half is far too long.

Pretty much all the other rental car agencies there had multiple people working and therefore lines which actually moved. Our line literally had at least three people who left line to go over to a different agency.

Self Serve Car Rental?
Pros: The few folks working at PayLess were very nice and working very hard, there were just too few of them.
The car ran well.
Cons: Bait and switch on the rental car - got "upgraded" to a vehicle I didn't want. Because of understaffing, it took an hour in line to get the car. When returning the car, there was nobody to check folks out - cars backed up out of the entrance. Customers didn't know what to do as there was literally nobody in the lot to help. We actually needed to ask people working at Avis what we should do and they told us to go in to the rental counter (where there was 1 person working) to check the car back in. Anyone with a tight schedule would have had a challenge making their flights.

Cons: I had to go search for my own car in the lot. The first car I got was filthy and smelled like smoke. The second was decently clean. On return of the car, no one was available. I was late for a flight and had to go to the front desk and wait in line to give them my return mileage, making me even more late.

Easy & Affordable
Pros: Very easy process to pick-up car and the car itself was spotless. Most affordable option there is.
Cons: Due to the cheaper pricing, Payless had the longest line at Boston Logan (by 5-6 people at least). Unfortunately, they usually seemed to only staff one person to handle the long lines.
Pros: Rented minivan - this company had the cheapest rates by far. Was worried once I looked at the Yelp reviews, but everything went fine.
Cons: Pickup process was a bit slow.

Pros: Car was clean and got good gas mileage.
Cons: When I picked up the car, the person helping me was pretty incompetent. I had a pre-made reservation and it took 30 minutes for him to rent me the car. The "mileage in" in the receipt they emailed me was wrong (different from the "mileage in" on the paper receipt given to me when I rented the car). So it says I drove 600 miles more than I actually did. Probably not a huge deal since they don't charge for mileage.

Hidden Charges with EZ Car
Pros: The car was brand new, only 100 miles on it!
Cons: The EZ desk is very hard to find at Logan - no signage. It is actually called Advantage. After I was there, the informed me that if I didn't have proof of insurance, I wouldn't have been able to take the car. There should have been notice about this. The add-ons were ridiculous - $28/day for an EZ pass? The wait at the desk was crazy.

Cons: Price paid was not what was quoted. Counter agent was flip/sarcastic - didn't like that we booked via Kayak or bought third party insurance. We had to actively point out scratches on car - agent seemed bothered by our insisting they check it. Drop off was not great. Agent checked mileage and gas, said "leave it running and receipt will be emailed." Did not review pricing, which was more than quoted. There was a line of at least 7 running cars - waste of gas - and left me unsure that I wouldn't be charged for low gas. Will never rent from Advantage/EZ Rent - nor will I ever use Kayak again. Happy to share my experience with family and friends

I had to rent from Avis- Need Refund
Cons: When I arrived at the booth for my 6am rental no one was there. All other companies had staff present. I waited until 7, still no staff at EZ. I couldn't wait any longer so I had to rent from Avis. Please refund my credit card.

The Kayak offer/price paid was not the same Hertz
Cons: The tax amounts were very different when we reached Hertz to pick up the car, compared to the amount sent by email in the Kayak confirmation.
The Hertz car itself was a hatchback and not a sedan, as advertised.
The most unfortunate aspect is that at dropping off the car, I was charged an additional 290 dollars as part of the fare (no damages!). This was never shown in the Kayak booking.
The car rental ended up being double the original cost advertised at booking in Kayak, which is extremely misleading on the part of Kayak. Hertz officers told us never to use sites like Kayak. I'm unimpressed by Hertz, but Kayak needs to reach out and address this if they want me to be a customer with them again.

Terrible support at Logan.
Pros: Check in was efficient and I did like the car.
Cons: I left a small wallet with my drivers license and a credit card in the car upon return. I have attempted to call the Logan desk more than a dozen times and no one ever answers the phone. I have called the main 800 numbers and when they tried to transfer me to Logan I was cut off. I will not rent from Hertz at Logan again. This was terrible Customer Service!

Cons: Extremely poor experience. I missed my flight, was stranded at the airport and they refused to take my debit card, said cc only!! The black woman at the counter was sarcastic and snarky. I don't recall her name but my encounter occurred on 10/24 at 12 noon at Logan airport in Boston. I'm very disgusted it took hours to find another car from a competitor instead, which costed nearly double the amount. I will never do business with Hertz ever again due to this horrible experience.

Cons: What I thought I was charged on the website was not the price at the counter you figured it out but it took me calling my credit card company and obviously this happens to a lot of people the clerk had told me that this happens often that's really something you guys should straighten out when you think you're paying 300 and they're asking you for 400 when you get to the counter it's very upsetting and you're tired after a long flight
