Summary of reviews

Guests say

Guests overwhelmingly praise the hotel's excellent location, which is frequently highlighted as its best feature. However, many reviews mention that the rooms and bathrooms are dated, small, or in need of renovation, and cleanliness is sometimes an issue. Service receives mixed feedback, with some guests finding staff accommodating and others reporting unfriendly or unhelpful experiences. While some appreciate the breakfast and amenities, the overall impression is that the hotel could benefit from updates, particularly to the rooms and bathrooms.

Wonderful

Mr. Jan, Aug 2023

The storied 1927 hotel is part of the large Saunders building, one block from the 'central park' called Boston Common (which is also the best public self-parking garage). The location is walking distance to great neighborhoods like Beacon Hill, Back bay, Chinatown, and only maybe 15 minutes from Park Church, Old South house, old state house etc. The facilities are befitting the grand Dame of Bosto...

Juanito, Apr 2021

Pros (+) It looks amazing outside and the lobby

Cons (-) Room is super small. I barely can walk in the bathroom and the toilet flusher was the side poles like the ones in the gas station. Felt like I was staying at a motel 6 than a 4 star hotel. Checked in and checked right out after seeing that dump

Okay

Diana, Feb 2020

Pros (+) Bed was comfortable. Soap smelled great.

Cons (-) My room was changed to a different room when I arrived that I didn't ask for. I already payed online. It was made seem like my room was changed to something better when indeed it was worse. Bigger bed. But we lost the use of the bath tub and space. We had a very small stand up shower. I had a romantic night planned for me and my significant other and we couldn't do what we wanted. Was also charged...

Robert, Jun 2019

Pros (+) Everything overall was good. Room was just very small for the price. We paid a lot of money to travel from Miami, you would think they’d tried to comfort you traveling so far. Overall, good experience.

Cons (-) Try there best to try and accommodate visitors traveling from other states. Rooms are very small for the prices.

Jenny, Apr 2019

Pros (+) Great location, breakfast was delicious with healthy options. Friendly staff. Easy checkout.

Cons (-) Rooms are small but that didn’t bother us really

Very good

AnnClaire, Mar 2019

Pros (+) The bed was comfortable, the staff was helpful and prompt, and the location was prime getting out to explore Boston. I also appreciated the accessibility of the Lynx fitness center and the conference rooms for business purposes.

Cons (-) The room itself was very small, truly only for one person. I would have appreciated a small fridge as I was staying for several days and cannot afford to eat out regularly while traveling (or at the pricey restaurants within the hotel). The walls between rooms seemed quite thin and doors slammed loudly.

Anonymous, Feb 2019

Cons (-) Bars for safety in tub and emergency cord for accidents
