The place is modern and the location is super. The restaurant which is run by a separate owner is nice. Basic food but decent happy hour cocktails.
The receptionist was rude when I requested a two point plug for my charger. It was a big issue as they didn’t have the one I wanted and told me to go and buy one from across the road instead of providing one. Not hospitality at its finest. Secondly, the air con didn’t work and we had to repack our belonging again and move from the 8th floor to the 6th floor. Thirdly, when I went to get the extra blanket out of the cupboard it was covered in a huge old blood stain. I complained and they issued me a new one and as it was late I calmly asked them to please let me speak to the manager in the morning . In The morning the manager was nowhere to be found and the receptionist simply didn’t want to know about it. Oh and the microwave started going berserk during the middle of the night making loud beeping noises and I had to unplug it during the night. It’s unfortunate as I stayed there a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it but their standards have dropped. I would recommend you stay away.
No hairdryer in the room.....there must be one.....
Location is perfect!
Water/shower was often not hot.
Great location, friendly staff
Some parts need maintenance or work - the gym, roof and outside area. Breakfast was passable.
If you want to stay in a moderately-priced hotel in Hamra, stay here
I've tried staying in a hotel on Hamra for under $100 before (Marble Tower) and I regretted it as soon as I stepped foot in the room, so I was very careful picking 309. But, it was clean when I walked in, and the room was a modest size. The location is good, just behind AUB, so it's easy to get around. The staff is nice and mostly speaking English. If you're on a budget stay here.
It's perfectly nice, just not great. I still ended up checking back into the Crowne Plaza, but if you can manage to stay at a perfectly good place, the 309 is just fine. A couple of downsides, the room door didn't automatically close. The WiFi was slow. Other than that, a perfectly good hotel if you're on a budget but still want to be near Hamra Street. Though Hamra Street isn't what it used to be, it's super commercial and generic now, with cheap chain stores everywhere.
