Wellington hotels near Cuba Street Mall

Cons: The Vista suites are part of another building and do not have airconditioning. The rooms are small by todays standards. It was quite a warm day and night and the windows and door had to be opened. Given Wellington is so windy this has its drawbacks and especially noise overnight.

Cons: Kids running in hallway No car park for general use - only valet offered and not told how much it would cost

Cons: Room decor and fittings a could use a bit of a redo

Cons: You can tell it is old with cheap ways to make it look newer

Cons: I was only there for a night. I didn’t discover any negatives.

Cons: We interacted with 2 staff members from the front desk. One was incredibly helpful and kind. The other was rude and acted as though we were just 'stupid tourists' despite the fact that I would imagine a lot of their business is from tourism. When we valet parked our car, they required that we go down to get our luggage from the vehicle and then had to walk back up the ramp against traffic - very odd considering we paid $34 for one night of parking. Then, seeing how we are not from NZ, and discussed our travels, we were not aware that we had to put our card into this slot near the door to engage any power. This was not obvious to us, and it is not customary in hotels in the US. When we called down to ask if they had an idea why our AC wasn't working, the woman (who also worked with us at the front desk) was clearly irritated with us and acted as though we were idiots. While this seems like a small collection of interactions, it left a very poor taste in my mouth in regards to my stay at Novotel Wellington.

Cons: Lacks any facilities, no pool, not even a laundry to do some washing. Sent down the road to their sister hotel the Ibis with bags of washing was not something I was going to bother doing.

Cons: This is a very basic offering with a terrible location. It's far from everything except a supermarket. The rooms are small. The staff are on the whole friendly but ironically the senior staff have a tendency to get a bit snappy. Overall I'd question how much they're getting paid, either it's low or the management culture sucks all the fun out of working there- my observation after 3 weeks there is that it would be both. I would question just what exactly "by Rydges" is supposed to denote in terms of quality- the suggestion here being that Rydges has obviously gone down hill to be associated with this hotel.

Cons: Terrible hours on food service (ends early and there is nothing around), no vending machines or anything after 9:30 PM, no ice machines, no nothing.

Cons: The refrigerator was not cleaned prior to our check in

Cons: It was far too expensive for us to eat there. Continental breakfast was $50 for two. Too much money for toast.
