This Upper West Side hotel is within 1 block of Central Park's lush greenery and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts; Columbus Circle is 4 blocks south.
Pros: Proximity to Lincoln CenterCons: Dreary, small room
Charge for wifi
Bathroom so small that one had to close the door to reach the toilet paper and there was no surface on which to put a dopp kit
It's okayPros: The rooftop deck had great views and location was goodCons: They charge you for everything and it's super overpriced. The pool was a disappointment it's as big as a pickup truck
Quality NYC stayPros: Very friendly staff. Nice sized rooms for NYC. Good choice of amenities.
Comfortable and good locationPros: The value of the rates given the the area is great and it is centrally located in mid-town.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.Cons: My room was noisy in the morning but quiet most of the other times.
Location, location, locationPros: Friendly, helpful staff from the front door men onward... The Concierge , he is always a pleasure to deal with. House keeping are quick and helpful, should you require more of anything.
Starbucks on the corner...
Good to go!
Great hotel, fantastic location, lovely staff.Pros: The Empire Hotel was much, much nicer than I expected, considering that it is one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. The lobby was very stylish and featured a nice bar where people were meeting for drinks and snacks etc. The room was very small, but that is typical in big cities, and it was really nicely done, with a lovely bed, lots of towels and toiletries, etc. It felt very comfortable. The location is amazing: Lincoln Center is literally across the street, the subway is half a block away, and you can easily walk to dozens of attractions and the park. This will be my go to hotel from now on in NYC.Cons: The movies were a bit expensive to rent ($19!) but the internet was strong and cheap, so it didn't matter. I could hear the folks in the next room, but they were having an argument (whoops) and otherwise I couldn't hear anyone. NYC is noisy, so there's always going to be some noise. I really don't even consider these complaints, to be honest.
Cons: Room very very small for paying that price. My window view was of another building like 3 inches apart. Sink wouldn't drain, remote control wouldn't work. Otherwise, the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.
Great stay in JanuaryPros: Excellent location. Awesome rate. Was in town for a training workshop but decided to come a couple days early with my boyfriend and found a great rate for weekday in January. Close to subway.Cons: Only problem I had was that it can be quite noisy. It is located between Broadway where it crosses an avenue, so even at night there is a lot of traffic. Our room faced Lincoln Center, which seems quiet at night, but it was also the side of the hotel which has service entrances so a lot of trash trucks and deliveries coming in on that side. I'm a light sleeper anyway so I always bring earplugs and that worked perfectly.
Pros: LocationCons: Too old and the room was too small worthless
Where's the shower door?Cons: Our stall shower was missing the sliding door. The bathroom got soaked during every shower
fun stay, but probably won't again unless it's in Pros: The room and lobby were beautifully decorated and the hotel was in a great location right in the middle of manhattan. The staff was very professional and extremely helpful.Cons: The room was agonizingly small for the amount of money we paid for it. When we checked in the lady behind the desk said she was "upgrading" us, and we barely had enough room to walk around the bed. I shudder to think of how small our room was before the "upgrade".
Dont goPros: Location goodCons: Nothing worked, visiting for a week and pool and the pooldeck was not open one single time, the fitness center was on and off closed had to go outside, sometimes housekeeping just did clean the room.
