The place was ok, staff friendly and location great.
Not at all appropriate for work trips as wifi didn't work and I ended up having a huge problem with it. Also there was a really bad smell in my room. They were nice to move me to another apartment instead though which was a plus but didn't help the time I missed out working.
Toilet flushed did not work, no wifi access in our room. The lock for the terrace didn’t work
Internet never worked! Pricey for what it was.
The location was great! Very central. Could walk to Barrio Alto and the stop for Tram 28. The hotel itself is in a sketchy looking building, and does not have lights to guide up the stairs (the hotel is on the 3rd floor), but you can take an old style elevator up instead.
The hotel and our room choice (The Deluxe Suite) were falsely advertised. It is advertised as having a city view, (which was an alley view of the dingy building across), free water bottles (the receptionist said “No, I don’t know who wrote that”), free teas and coffees (only our first night and then told we had to pay), a balcony (ours was covered in debris and again did not offer a view) and most importantly free wifi (which never worked). We had to go out in the kitchen to receive wifi which was inconvenient, especially since we are from Canada and did not have a data plan. We explained this to the receptionist when we told her about the wifi. She just seems confused and half-heartedly said she would try fixing it. We stayed for four nights and it was never fixed. Along with the broken wifi, the bathroom was terrible. It was the smallest bathroom that I have ever seen. I have uploaded a picture. Not only was the bathroom tiny, but the shower leaked because the door would not stay closed properly, and the light would flicker whenever the water was running (flushing and showering included). As I am prone to fainting, I had to shower with the light off. It was not a light flicker, but rather the light would turn on and off completely at its own will. We told the receptionist and she again said she would try to fix it. We reminded her of the light and the wifi each day, but neither were fixed. You also cannot flush any toilet paper down the toilet, which is fine, except since the bathroom is so small they can only provide a tiny trash can which fills quickly. The housekeeper didn't even change our garbage the first night, so we had 2 days worth of dirty paper- not very hygienic. Considering all of these issues, the biggest disappointment was the front desk lady and her lack of empathy. Whenever we told her about these issues, she would just shrug and acted like we were being fussy.
Reasonably priced. Clean. Had the necessaries for a comfortable stay. A nice breakfast for 7 euros. Friendly staff.
Checking in would be hard after the recipient leaves at 7 pm. Tried to communicate before my arrival using the published phone number but there was no answer. I was able to make in time and I got a different number from the staff and I had good response afterwards.
