Pros: The hotel location is absolutely perfect, you cannot be more central, and the view on the lake is great. The breakfast is amazing, fresh and abundant. The rooms are very comfortable, the gym is nice and well equipped, and there is a pool. The staff of the hotel is considerate and nice.

Pros: This property belongs to Chinese government and quite a few celebrities stayed there. Despite the hotel looking somehow old fashioned (which I am absolutely fine with), the management well takes care of details to accommodate guests. There is a display informing about air pollution in room and outside. As my flight was scheduled late in the afternoon, I could store my luggage with the concierge. While waiting in the lobby, twice I have been offered a cup of tea for free. Walk around the Green Lake is just amazing.

Cons: During one day, there was no hot water in the hotel from noon to 8pm, and there was no compensation at all for that, just a notice received beforehand, and a very polite attitude of the staff, but considering the standards and price of the hotel, I find it a bit surprising.

Room , good enough for 2Adults and 2 small kids. 2 beds (1350w) . Both room and bathroom are very clean. Food, breakfast is a combine eastern and western. Very nice local food provided during breakfast.

Cons: WIFI terrible, open unsafe connection, low bandwidth. No international TV channels. Basic Asian and continental breakfast buffet. No fresh yoghurts, only a sweet dairy product, no muesli, only unhealthy processed, baked commercial grains containing sugar, very strong overcooked breakfast coffee, limited bread selection with all them containing sugar....!, limited choice fresh fruit. In general enough choice but far away from the top class 4/5* breakfast buffets we experienced elsewhere in China. Anyway, enjoy the view and plenty of top restaurants around.

Cons: The shower gel and toiletries in the bathroom had not been topped up and were half empty. The bath had hairs in it and was not cleaned properly. There was dust on the glass in the bathroom and in the desk on the room. There were stains on the desk and this made it look old and tired . The WiFi did not work in the room .

To stay in a hostel bedroom with private bathroom, furnished to compliment the old style of the building was unique. The hostel is walking distance from the superb Green Lake Park and a couple of minutes walk from a great patisserie that sells European ad Chinese breads, pastries and good coffee. The cinema is a 10 minute walk.

Pros: Lost Garden is an oasis in Kunming. It’s location is unbeatable and I always love the comfortable and technologically equipped rooms. The staff couldn’t be nicer, and the roof terrace is the perfect peaceful place to work or relax. I’ve stayed in (literally) dozens of places in Kunming over the past 30 years and the Lost Garden is my absolute favorite.

Pros: OMG! This is one GREAT hotel. I didn't have reservations when I walked in the lobby. Instantly a awesome lady (Cici) asked me in English what can I do for you. Its kinda of pricy hotel so I took it for one night and now have been here a week. For sure a 5 star. Breakfast buffet a must to include in room rate, they have wide food variety. I stayed on 18th floor the later part of my visit which including a business center and the star of that office was Vivian! She helped answering questions and she's very computer knowledgeable, Speaks English.

Pros: When you look beyond the greatness of this hotel, the staff was incredible! Since I spoke no Chinese there was always someone to talk with in English. The rooms were spotless and laundry service was a bonus on a long trip, the omlets are to die for.. I stayed 11 nights and didn't want to leave. IT IS A GRAND HOTEL

Cons: I booked this hotel because they mentioned they had SPA but when i arrived there they informed SPA is closed so no steam bath no Suana, lobby was like a market many advertisers,only few one round sofa to sit while all other people have to stand.
