10.0 Excellent
Pros: Villa Kiva is really special - amazing views and comfortable rooms, friendly staff, cocktails of the day and delicious food. We couldn’t ask for a better Zanzibar stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Design of interiors
Cons: Tides at sea
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort facilities are pretty much everything you need! It's an exceptionally confortable spot, only a small space in terms of the number of guests they can accomodate but this makes it more intimate. Everything was peaceful, serene and relaxing. Special mention was the food - much better than alternatives we had all over Zanzibar. The breakfast was very good with plenty of fresh dishes available.
Cons: Honestly, there isn't much at all we didn't enjoy. It is unfortunate we didn't get a chance to explore the beaches a little more. The resort has it's own beach section, but there's still a short space to travel across to the water's edge where locals are ready to try and sell you something.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The full service breakfast on deck overlooking ocean was spectacular.
Cons: While extensive, the menu never changes so lunch and dinner soon run together.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful place , very good breakfast and staff
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place, especially the garden was absolutely beautiful. It was a very comfortable stay.
Cons: Be aware that 5% fee is added to the bill if you decide to pay with credit/debit card at the end of your stay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The mattresses were perfectly hard.
Cons: The hotel itself was good. Our stay was disrupted only once when a corrupted police officer near Nungwi threatened us and asked for money to let us go. This experience we share to let those in Zanzibar who love on tourism to try their best to eradicate those corrupted cops because honestly that was an experience which may make us decide not too come back again.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The facilities are nice, the staff is very friendly. The hotel in general is beautiful, the rooms are very nice.
Cons: The restaurant’s chef needs to be improved, food is not very tasty and as you don’t have too many options to eat around the hotel you have to eat there. Also, knowing that this is not a problem of the hotel, the low tide is an issue if you want to go to swim.

₹ 20,523+
Overview Reviews
This family-friendly Kiwengwa property is within 1 mi (2 km) of Kiwengwa Pongwe Forest, Mapenzi Beach, and Kiwengwa Beach. Pwani Mchangani Beach and Muyuni Beach are also within 3 mi (5 km).
7.0 Good
Pros: Staffs were very nice, The dinner events were really good.
Cons: the quality of the food wasn't good enough. They had many dinner events which were really nice and the quality of food in those events were much better. Facilities didn't meet our expectations based on the price we paid for the hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, wonderful garden. Spacious and comfortable room. Nice and big swimming pool.
Cons: Be prepared for a long drive from the airport. Very bad experience with the transfer, it is pretty expensive and no service at all. The hotel cannot guarantee anything. We almost missed the plane 2 times because of the not well organised pick up, unprepared driver, like no petrol in the car, puncture on the way, etc. In the hotel there are 5 restaurants but the cuisine is still very poor. Services are overpriced. We booked a snorkelling tour for half day, the boat was run down, rusty. We couldn't go down to the beach unless a dozen of local people gathered around us and not going away. It was not scary but very uncomfortable, just couldn't enjoy the beach!
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff really nice
Cons: Food booking process for restaurants, shower and bed all can do with improvement
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, pool, gym and entertainment
Cons: Slim hours for meals made it a bit tricky with kids. Also no babysitting for youngsters
5.0 Okay
Cons: The rooms air condition did not work as it should. The bathrooms also did not have extraction. The food good of been of better quality.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is ordinary. There are a lot of a la carte restaurant choices (reservation needed). The quality of the a la carte restaurants is very good.
Cons: Even if the room is available, they are not very helpful regarding early entry to the hotel. We corresponded regarding this through email beforehand. They want 150 USD extra for early entry. Since Zanzibar is very far away, it is sometimes not easy to have a matching flight accordingly. The hotel could be more flexible regarding this issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Christmas meal and show!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: food was really great. good variety of alternatives and 3-4 chefs grilling some specialties in the buffet. pool and beach area was super. nice evening program.
Cons: all-inclusive is a must. food/drinks are twice the "normal" price. You need to sign the bar receipt for everything you order. This makes ordering a quite time consuming process with the slow computers. I signed probably 50 receipts during our 4 day trip even though we had all-inclusive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked the all inclusive, Breakfast was amazing. I did not miss breakfast any of the mornings that I was there. Variety of dish for everyone. Fresh fruits and juices were also available. Lunch was great but dinner was also amazing with the nightly entertainment and cozy feel for dinner. Waitress and staff were very polite and helpful.
Cons: outside the resort, its not much to look at or do. I would have loved to get out and explore the the towns, markets, villages, or just to site see. I also didn't like the high prices for the tours. Snorkeling was around $120 for 2 people. Ridiculous! I would expect to pay that for scuba, but not snorkeling.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and friendly service, quite and good food.
Cons: Need a renovation
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Always had to walk on sand to get to the accommodation

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent food all around. Good variety and mostly healthy and fresh. The char grilled fish and octopus was a standout as were the desserts. Special mention for the Pumpkin curry and the fish and coconut curry (all made by the lovely Sri Lankan chef, Victor). Another especial mention to the animation team, who do their best to be fun but not intrusive: Hassan, Said and Rachel (the child carer and yoga instructor) were exemplary.
Cons: The pillows. And that was it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The upgrade we received from the beach villa to the beach suite was amazing. The turn down service was great and the kids gaming area as well. The surf shop offers good choices and excursions providing safe and comfortable snorkeling etc options. Friendly and security staff. The nightly coconut picking for guests was a good idea. The entertainment (karaoke, bands etc) was great fun. Overall the resort is fantastic and I would recommend it.
Cons: Things we did not like include: - limited beer options - incorrect room service orders - warm cold drinks and beers delivered to the room - wines and drinks should be kept cold and cannot be served at room temperature in Zanzibar. - having stayed at this resort before, the food is not as spicy or representative as before and caters for a more bland palate - cocktails made from box premixes, was unacceptable and not enjoyable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every property was excellent The staffs were so kind and friendly They talked to us for every moment we had any trouble without calling them. They always kindly greeted us like “Mambo”, which was so nice and made us happy. Information of aqua sports or marine sports like JET SKI and DIVING are always available. Some staffs are professional for guiding those activities and we can enjoy them without any reservations in advance.
7.5 Good
Pros: + The overall atmosphere. + Location. + Staff. + Beach. + All Inclusive plan. + Resorts decoration and rooms from outside. - Pool’s tiles makes it look very old and not pleasing to swim in.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing, comfortable, nicky decorated isolated villa. Beautiful pool, excellent service by the house manager Ali and the staff. Great breakfast and very good meals cooked for you the way you want. Fantastic air-conditioned rooms with balcony and huge beautiful bathrooms. If you are looking for a place to relax, swim, read a book with a cold beer by your private pool look no more.
Cons: The villa is 30 min drive for the village. It sits on isolated clif over the sea. If you are looking for a place to relax, swim in the pool, enjoy the sunset and the present of your companions there couldn't be a better place in Zanzibar. Take into account you will need 30 drive to get anywhere. So if you arrive during the day stop on the market on the way and buy some snacks, fruits and drinks. Ali, the house manager can take you anywhere but take into account it takes time and not free.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything- it is like a fairytale
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Private and secluded, Ali (house manager) excellent host, chef and staff great. Amazing view of Indian ocean from house and pool, great snorkelling just 20 minute boatride away at Mnemba island.
Cons: The local road from the main road the last km:s is really terrible :-)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Private pool.
Cons: Access road is very rough.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning villa with an amazing view, great service and very nice food!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: If you're looking for a much needed getaway from everthing, in what we all felt was paradise, this is the place! The villa and staff were warm and welcoming. The level of service extended was impeccable. We appreciated the privacy and attentiveness shown by the team. Management was amazing throughout and successfully handled what was a big group (9 adults!). If you'd like to go diving, snorkeling or simply get a massage, the team is able to organise this for you. The villa is absolutely gorgeous and cosy. The grounds are well kept, views are to die for and privacy is on another level. It was sooooo hard leaving this place but we know we will definitely be back! A lot of people complain about the road to get there, however, we discovered a much shorter and less bumpy route. I'm sure the Karabai team would be able share this route with your drivers too. P.s. once you arrive at the villa, you'll immediately forget your time on the road. It is all worth it! Please Do not hesitate booking this place. Book it NOW!
Cons: Food could have been better. For an extra set fee, the chef can prepare lunch and dinner limited to one type of protein (chicken, beef, fish), staple and salad. For the amount cgarged, a lot was left desired. However, there's the additional option to up the extra fee to get a wider variety of protien including all types of seafood fresh from the ocean (many thanks Ali!). None the less, the chef was always open to suggestions and quality and quantity of food improved on every meal. The birthday cake made for me was really nice. Could benefit from having menus where a variety of options can be selected or allow guests to bring their own chefs for an additional fee.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The road to arrive to the Villa is a bit difficult and bumpy, but once you are there, it is all forgotten! This is real paradise on earth!!! Ali the manager was really nice, he helped us found activities and was a good adviser. Very helpful and kind! The staff was really discrete and the house was always very clean. The place and the view were amazing! It is very calm and cosy, definitly the place to go to reset your batteries. We will definitly rent again if we ever go back to Zanzibar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ocean view from the villa was fantastic,i loved the serenity too. Very warm staff and great Chef Ali and the manager. I will be back............
Cons: I loved my stay

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The amazing location The best place on earth if you re looking for a diving center
Cons: The service in restaurant; took hours to be serve if the order was not mixed up or forgotten

Cons: The staff at the reception is impolite and unprofessional. No air cons in the rooms. No fridge. Construction works outside. Check out time at 10 a.m is ridiculous.

Pros: The room was beautiful and in a great peaceful location, right opposite Mnemba Island. It is on the edge of the cliff and when the tide is low, you can walk along the reef to the beach (about 10-15min walk away). If you don't feel like walking to the beach, they also provide bikes, drop offs and pick ups by car (at specific times) or by boat when the tide is high. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the food at the restaurant was good. Everyone at the dive centre was also great. We loved our stay there and was sad to leave!

Pros: We loved everything! From the welcome to the rooms, sustainability culture of the hotel, small details as in cold towels on arrival, every afternoon mosquito spray service. But what we loved the most was the stuff member. From Rose to Shasha, Isu and everyone else. Such a great atmosphere these guys creates. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful facilities, indoor and out. Good food, friendly, attentive staff, amazing beach.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Mvuvi is a very nice boutique hotel. The walkway to the rooms are sand and this zen-type environment, continues all throughout the facility. Upon check-in we were greeted with glasses of papaya (Or was it mango?) juice and showed directly to our room. Even though we were late due to a day of sightseeing, we still were able to grab a couple of drinks and sit out under the patio which allowed for us to catch some of the cool and relaxing, ocean breezes. Our room had been cooled, was clean, and was filled with rustic/beach decor which fit the environment. The towels were huge and there were nice toiletries for use, if we had happened to forget the basics. The beds were firm and felt like they were memory foamed, with plenty of pillows. The bathroom was clean and the shower simple, with a decent flow and hot water. The staff was very cordial and professional, with Grace the manager leading the way. Breakfast was simple but nice, with eggs that could be ordered to style. Our only gripe was the assignment of tables by room number instead of first come-first served, which gave off a feeling of higher payer getting the better view. However, Grace assured us that this was not the case and we left it at that. The beach is lengthy and very nice for a long and relaxing walk. Beautiful people of the region will also be along to offer gifts or massages, but they are polite and not pushy. Overall, we had a pleasant time and would definitely stay again.
Cons: A per head tax of nine (9) U.S. dollars, was a little surprising. This "city tax" should be a flat rate.
7.9 Good
Pros: 1) very friendly staff 2) relaxing set up and beautiful white sandy beach 3) they accept credit cards and managed to book me on tours where they charge my card for it.
Cons: Inconsistent level of satisfaction PROS 1) very friendly staff 2) relaxing set up and beautiful white sandy beach 3) they accept credit cards and managed to book me on tours where they charge my card for it. CONS 1) location is more suitable for honeymooners and those seeking being away from island activities 2) inconsistent food quality, the same dish might be tasty then the next day could be horrible. 3) terrible WiFi, weak mobile signal too. But that’s pretty much almost everywhere on the island. 4) I was charged for late check-out despite being Genius 2 on booking.com
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was perfect ! close to the beach , nice view , nice room , nice restaurant The staff was very very nice . always present and ready to help you ! you feel really good in this place , calm and quiet ! you can sleep well with no noise . Food is very good and tasty ! I recommande this place to all the couple who wants to have a real break in peace ! thanks to all the staff for being so nice and present ! thanks to chef for doing the best crepes in the morning !!! sooo good ;)!
Cons: it was perfect
9.2 Excellent
Pros: If you are looking for a peaceful and small hotel look no further! The staff was so helpful, the room was simple but beautiful, the restaurant is great and the massages were good value for money. Nice afternoon snacks and breakfast was delicious.Really recommended. The food is really nice but most people there were on half board basis so a la carte menu does not change daily. really nice food but a bit repetitive after few days.
Cons: No fridge in the room and for some bizarre reason they do not provide complementary water everyday. If it is for plastic bottles why don’t they provide free access to a dispenser? Drinks prices are more expensive than luxury hotels on the same resort, which again is a bit strange. Also odd that we asked for recommendation for a place to eat and was told that they could not make any recommendations as they have no direct experience of the other local restaurants... basically they really want you to eat at their restaurant...
6.3 Good
Pros: The location and the beach section are nice. Alessandro is a great and very good at dealing with guests. The food is also good. They bake their own bread and its delicious. The fish is fresh and the breakfast is simple ( there could be more fruit ) but nice. Small buffet with eggs to order.
Cons: Okay so we booked the standard room and when we checked in the room was so smelly it was actually unbearable. It felt like the room hadn’t been aired for a very long time and the mould odour was awful. After 3 hrs of chaos, they couldn’t change our room but offered us a massage and a lovely dinner. Apart from the smell, the room wasnt well kept. The toilet’s flush would fall apart after every use and in general our advice would be not to book this room. They also charged us extra 5% by putting the payment for the booking through using the card info on booking.com although actually the payment should’ve been handled at check in. If we had known about the 5% we could’ve payed cash. On rainy days there is nothing to do at the hotel that lacks a proper lounge and bar area.

Pros: Lovely and spacious villas. Outdoor area and plunge pool was lovely to relax in private. Delicious breakfast. Staff were lovely and friendly. Nice and fresh seafood.

7.9 Good
Pros: The location and views were incredible. If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful and simplistic - this is is the spot for you.
Cons: The food was average at best and very limited choices for lunch and evening meal. Ironically, very pricey.
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was nice, the pool was nice and food was nice
Cons: No proper beach, the little pool in the rooms need water filters, directions to the hotel coz it’s in the middle of no where and they have to do something about mosquitoes
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in the quiet part of Zanzibar. They have 11 similar bungalows. I would definitely recommend this place for couples who have the need to chill. Food: The food is a lot pricier than other parts of Zanzibar especially compared with the other local restaurants around. However, the food is good and they are changing the lunch and dinner menu every day. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at fixed hours. Location: This part of the island is much quieter than the other parts. If you are looking for relaxation, and a silent environment, this is definitely a place to recharge. There is a prox. 30 minutes (walking) to the nearest local restaurant, and 45 min (walking) to the nearest supermarket. There is an excellent beach 45 min walk from the hotel, this beach is almost untouched and is definitely worth a visit! We also paid some local boat drives to drive us home by sea from the beach to the hotel, they charged us 30 000 TZS for this. The Hotel is located in a remote place and therefore taxies charge extra to drive to the hotel or to the local village. NOTE: The roads are bad! Do not let this destroy your vacation ;) Last notes, the hotel charges extra for taxi bookings and other activities such as sightseeing, boat trips, and snorkeling. However, if you roam around the beach you can easily find locals offering approximately the same itineraries for a cheaper price (i do not know if they have the same quality)
Cons: Pricing and the extra beds. my friends have to sleep at extra beds since the room is made for couples. they did not have the same comfort.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The villa absolutely exceeded my expectations - it's large, comfortable, well designed, has a small pool, spacious terrace and overall very inviting. The food was tasty and they allow us eat at any time of the day, not just in set breakfast/lunch/dinner hours. The general manager was very hospitable and even arranged a special dinner for us and other people who were at the hotel on special occasions. We were also gifted a free spa treatment and a boat trip. The beach is absolutely the best I have seen in my life. The hotel premises are immaculately manicured.
Cons: The croissants were terrible, they are not croissants at all, just pieces of rough dough. The food service was slow. It's obvious that the staff (with the exception of the managers) didn't get training and are amateurs. The staff have meals together with the guests at the restaurant, which does feel weird and downgrades the restaurant a bit. The library was a bit small and uninteresting. Cats were meowing right next to our doors and windows whole night every night during our stay.
7.9 Good
Pros: The suite chalet was superb. The food was of good quality and tasty
Cons: There can be a bit more variety for the fixed menu served for half board or full board and not only two choices of each type. I understand that you cannot have a buffer for 10 rooms but still... The beach is ok but the high/low tide makes it a bit disappointing ( not related to the hotel though !). The price could be just a bit lower for the package you get!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is one of the nicest we tried in Zanzibar, the room are amazing, the view is stunning, the food is really tasty and the staff lovely. The owner is as well really ensuring that your stay is perfect. Super experience, I will definitely go again.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were really welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious. The rooms were a great size and a fantastic layout for 2 friends travelling together!
Cons: I struggled with connectivity, however as much as this was a negative it was also a positive as I was unable to disconnect completely and enjoy my stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were exceptional. Our room was amazing and for 7 nights we consistently had superb cooking for lunch and dinner. It has certainly been the best hotel I have ever stayed in, both in terms of the staff, the facilities and the remarkable location. We learnt some Swahili and really felt welcome from the start. The room was exceptionally large, had a plunge pool and was cleaned daily. There was a wonderful walk to the room through a beautiful garden where we saw something different each day. The staff and whole hotel has conservation at its heart. No plastic, growing trees, and the hotel donate part of the booking costs to the community. So far they have built a school and a hospital. We dived with One Ocean, who are onsite and the diving was excellent. The booking was completely painless and the dive boats well equipped. The dive masters and boat captains were very professional and made us feel very safe. The diving itself was unbelievable. The visibility was 18-20m and the sea life was incredibly diverse. We had 6 dives and saw something different each time. Overall, this was an amazing holiday and we didn’t want to leave!
Cons: Nothing! This holiday was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceeded our expectations. The rooms were comfortable and offered good privacy and views. The staff were incredible - helpful, attentive and very friendly. The reef walk is a must.... Bonus: great super fast WiFi.

Pros: - location - pool - beach - Tanzanian Staff (so nice) - view
Cons: - A/C didn’t work - Italian staff doesn’t speak English only welcoming to Italian guests. - Italian food - No mosquito net in the bunk beds - WiFi was bad didn’t work in any location other than reception. - toilet cover falls on your back when sitting on toilet. Overall wouldn’t recommend if your not Italian

Pros: Quaint, great if you're travelling with kids, lovely beach just a walk away, quiet and peaceful.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Beach is nice during high tide. African kitchen staff, bartender, waiters, waitress, hired transport drivers are all very welcoming Free breakfast and dinner was included in our reservation. Menu food was satisfying Shower satisfying
Cons: Majority Italian food buffet only Italian speaking hotel .. TV never worked after being told it would be turned on..dont recall anyone coming back to check Sheets Hot sticky, unclean feeling , and uncomfortable feeling Only a sheet to cover up with Room hot and stuffy , theres a large balcony door but mosquitoes will eat you if you leave it open too much..a/c just ok.. Rooms can use an upgrade.. Nothing really around but beach vendors down the beach a bar/restuarant on the water ...and a few other livelier private hotels with music after the bridge restaurant. Noon is when most people start coming out, sun starts coming tide starts coming.. You cant eat in your room they say.. so we ate in the balcony when we didnt feel like being around everyone Ran out of seafood (Free Italian food only) so u end up ordering from the menu anyway .. Security Guard and someone from the owners family allowed us to come and rest inside when we showed a few hours before check in ( No 24hr lobby ) To our surprise we almost got charged for it..vs being told this from the beginning.. No real welcoming feeling from the owner and his family who seem to stay on the property ..even tho there is a language barrier..even a simple smile will do.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Several times during our stay, we saw rats around the bar. Breakfast was very poor. The stuff was unfriendly and uninterested for the needs of the guests. The hotel and the rooms were small and dirty. We don’t recommended at all.
1.0 Poor
Pros: We booked for 4 nights here but We had to get another hotel hotel and they refused to refund our money back .
Cons: Everything. The staff were rude, the food was terrible. We had to look for an alternative
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is nice and cosy, with a beautiful beach, a small swimming pool and two restaurants one of which just on the beach. The staff is friendly and try to accommodate you. The quality of food is great both buffet either a la cart, the selection of beverage is also remarkable. All the rooms are provided with mosquito net and AC, which is important in Zanzibar.
Cons: I experienced some problem with spiders inside the room at ground floor, but unfortunately it is the season. The fees for the overstaying is the same if half day or few hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent 11 days at Blu Marlin Village in Kiwengwa, Zanzibar. Prepairing for our trip I read some negative opinions about this place, but ours was definitely positive. We had view to the ocean, a room with air condition. There is a swimming pool, and the ocean coast is in within few steps. The Blu Marlin owned by an Italian family, they were very kind to us. Me and my wife both speak some Italian, but in English more easier, but we had no problem with this. The staff, waiters were extremely kind and helpful, on our last day, when we said goodbye, they even hugged and kissed my wife and our six years old girl. Especially thanks for Eddie, a local guide who organizes different tours on the island and boat trips on the sea. He speaks fluent English and Italian, very prepared. Also thanks for his friend, Mr. Haji, for the excellent tour in Stone Town! When our plane took off from Zanzibar Airport to home, our little girl started to cry silently: 'I don' t want to leave! Mommy, Dady, promise me, we'll back some day!'

7.0 Good
Pros: Staffs were very nice, The dinner events were really good.
