Overview Reviews
With a stay at Queens Head Hotel in Kelso, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Northumberland National Park and Kelso Abbey.
6.0 Good
Pros: The location was very good for the centre of town. The price was about right for the location assuming expectations. The breakfast was ok with good variety and the lady serving was very friendly. A bonus for this establishment was the bar area which was very handy as it had sky sports. The bar staff were also very friendly and helpful. It was great to have tea making facilities in the rooms along with 2 small bottles of water (well done!)
Cons: I had a superior double on the first floor opposite the church (16). The room was quite noisy from the traffic when cars passed but it did calm down overnight. The floor to the right hand side of the bed needs attention as it creaked badly and infant it appears through the carpet that the boards maybe broken. I was only in the room one night but in the morning i could not get the shower working. It either went boiling hot, freezing cold or low flow so stopped. I ended up pouring plastic cup fulls of water from the tap over me to get the soap off! I would in fact stay here again but they really need to attend to these kind of things.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is excellent, great selection and lovely cooked choices. The room is spacious, well appointed with a large bathroom. Location perfect in the heart of the town. Friendly staff.
Cons: Centrally located therefore town noise.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent in every way and had an outstanding bathroom. We arrived 3 hours early and to our amazement we we're told that our room was ready and that we could check in. We found the hotel bar very friendly it was very busy on the Saturday that we stayed. The only down side was that breakfast was not the best but it was a busy morning on the Sunday. Having said that it hasn't put us off and the next time we go to the races at Kelso we will be booking with them again!!
Cons: Breakfast needs a bit more t.l.c
