Cons:Internet didn't work at all due to 250 international students employed at Carowinds all staying at this hotel and calling family on Skype. That would be understandable, but the staff was rude about internet issues and offered no help or compensation. They should have informed us up front that features advertised online would not be working. The "balcony" is a 6 inch wide concrete ledge overlooking a lot full of dump trucks, and it smells awful outside. The first floor reeked of marijuana for our entire stay. Several questionable characters loitered outside of the side entrance without ever entering the hotel, which made us uncomfortable. The front desk was rude at check in, check out and everywhere in between. Do not stay here.
Pros:The lobby and the staff (front desk) were the only to things that were nice.
Cons:The rooms look like they have seen some bad stuff go down... the bathroom was falling apart the lock on the balcony door was being held in by two screws that were barely screwed in. The last night I was there I locked the door and was awakened by a sound, I went to use the restroom and noticed that the door was no longer locked... needless to say, it was difficult to get back to sleep after that
Pros:Clean room Clean pool Phyllis was AWESOME!!!!!! She did everything she could to make my stay enjoyable
Pros:Room was clean, bed was comfy. Cable TV refrigerator and small balcony were nice bonuses. Some nice updates have been done to room but walls and floors looked a little dated.
Cons:The AC unit in our room leaked on the floor surrounding it, bed was comfortable but a lot of outside noises kept us awake and we were on the 10th floor.
Pros:Recent upgrades done. Friendly and knowledgable person at the counter.
Cons:The restroom floor and shower was dirty, the room had an obvious layer of dust. Overall not very clean at all. Simple repairs that if they were done and room was clean this hotel could be at it's potential.
Pros:The location is perfect for Carowinds visitors. It is directly across the street from the amusement park. I look forward to staying at the Clarion Hotel the next time that I visit Carowinds.
Cons:There was nothing to "dislike". The hotel is being renovated and there are a few odd smells. When the renovations are complete, I doubt I'll have anything negative to mention.
Pros:-The essentials worked well...hot shower with good pressure, cold AC, comfortable beds, functioning fridge and micro (once I plugged them in). -The location could not be better for a family visiting Carowinds. We watched the fireworks show from our room. -The onsite Mexican restaurant had good, inexpensive food. -Didn't try the pool but it looked like it was nice.
Cons:-The hotel was obviously in renovation -The halls and elevators smelled like something...either smoke or stench or perfume trying to cover up the smoke and stench...best thing to do is gut the "dated"carpet and start fresh -The carpet in the room was stained as well...not a big deal if you are spending your time at Carowinds. We got the room to sleep in and it was fine for that.
