Didn't provide a receipt or any kind of confirmation detailing our drop off or closing of rental contract. Due to Hertz staff, there were charges I was unaware of on my account. Pros: The only thing I did not like was the hard sell on the insurance, I already am fully covered by my insurance but they just don't let up, then the rep showed me some tiny dots on the windscreen and she said she had noted them, but if I came back with any increase in these tiny dots, I would get charged $20.00 for each dot! Pros: Nice car. Clean and well maintained.
Cons: Map for return location was misleading and help phone number was closed. Bill for rental was three times estimate. Had to spend extra time to resolve which forced us to hurry through security.

Cons: I rented a van, when arriving they said there was a "glitch" and they don't have vans, nor could they get one from the Hertz at the airport. Oh, and when I rented the car I wasn't told it was at a location that wasn't at the airport, but an off site location (there is also a Hertz at the airport.)

Will never rent from a Hertz again
Cons: Service was horrible. Asked for a walk through of the car, the associate points through the window and says 'its that car and no its fine'. Asked for a different car and he states no other cars available. Car sounded horrible thought it was going to break down, rented the car with no washer fluid in the middle of winter. Called to try and change drop off to another place a mile away and they guy was rude and stated he would charge me $45. At drop off I asked for a receipt, women states all 3 printers are broke, asked for her to email me receipt which she states she will but I of course never receive.

Cons: On vacation and decided to rent a car to get around for a couple days. Booked through kayak and walked over a half an hour to the car rental place. They did not have the inventory for us and told us they have been attempting to let kayak know all day. Very disappointing service on part of kayak.

No Car Available When We Arrived.
Pros: It doesn't seem that the Kayak system communicates or is update often with the rental car companies system. We arrived at the rental car companies office to pick up the car and they said they had no cars and hadn't for 2 days. However, the Kayak system still allowed us to make the reservation.
Cons: Had a little difficulty identifying the Alamo lanes at the rental return because the Alamo sign was small compared to the others. Wasn't exactly clear on where to stop at first.

Fast and Easy!
Pros: I was in Reno for the day. Check-in was efficient and easy. Walked across the parking lot to pick up my car, did a check, got the keys and drove off. How simple could it get?
In each step, the staff were courteous and friendly.

Cons: I rented a car on priceline under my name with my bosses cc as I have done every year for the last 3 years every August. I come with the actual credit card and a signed document by my boss with a copy of his ID stating I have permission to use the card and pickup the car. When I arrived in Reno to the Alamo counter around 11:30pm the employee at the desk said he must get the manager to allow me to rent the car. The manager at the Reno location, who was rude and impatient from the beginning, would not allow me to take the car despite seeing a history of rentals in the same manner. The rental was prepaid on priceline and thus I did not want to lose the money. He insisted I start a new contract under my name, which I did as I had no choice, after waiting for over an hour and dealing with his unprofessional demeanor. He also insisted on charging me $500 deposit for a Burningman cleaning fee even though I was not bringing the vehicle to Burningman. I finally left around 1am from the rental location. When I returned this new rental 3 days later, before the Burningman event even started, the attendant who checked in my car forgot to return the $500 deposit and I had to waste more time to go inside to the counter to get my deposit back. Furthermore, the attendant who checked my car when I returned it insisted I sign a document that there was damage to the roof rack (which I absolutely did not do/ did not use at all). I am quite short and could no way put anything on top of a SUV. He said it did not matter if I signed the document as I bought full insurance for the car. Nonetheless, signing a document for damage I was NOT responsible for seemed completely ridiculous. There seems to a big scam about making extra $ off of clients during the Burningman season in Reno, Nevada - even on those folks who aren't taking the rented vehicles to the event! The entire experience with Alama was unpleasant. I do not recommend using the Reno, Nevada location.

Pros: From the beginning until the end, my first time with Alamo went splendidly. There was almost no waiting time from the moment I stepped up to the counter to the time I drove away in my car. I couldn't be more pleased. There were no hidden charges, everything was as stated on their website. I received a nice, clean new car and when I was ready to return it, the process was hassle-free. I went in expecting some hiccups, but there were none.

Pros: Rental went smoothly. No surprise charges. In and out in less than 5 minutes.
Cons: Payless IS NOT "In Terminal" as advertised, rather requires a shuttle to and from the airport. There are many "In Terminal" car providers, to include National, Alamo, Hertz and Avis. Payless is not one of them. They also overcharge your card requiring a customer to prepay for fuel. Never will I use them again.

Charging for regular use of car
Pros: I liked the price and value of renting from Payless.
Cons: I did not like the additional charge that would have been incurred in I didn't clean my rental car. It seems to be that minor dirt still would have gotten me a serious charge in the range of greater than 300 dollars. There was no gauge as to how clean the car had to be. This additional scrutiny is because I went to Burning Man festival. I think it is bias to charge your renters this additional fee if the car is not beyond normal use dirty.

Pros: I didn't like anything about this place.
Cons: As soon as I started the vehicle on the pay less lot the low tire pressure light came on as well as the change oil light. I drove off the lot at the assistance of my dad. I had paid for the rental for a week, dropped it off a day early and it got a low tire while in the lot. I was not refunded a daily rate nor was I refunded the daily insurance rate. I was also told that as soon as you sign the paperwork that you are signing responsibility of the vehicle to maintain like it's your own. She was very rude and then had me fill out an incident report. I never got refunded.

In the end, they made it right.
Pros: Good customer service. Despite the initial shortcomings, they ultimately made it right in the end and ensured we were satisfied and in a safe vehicle. Prompt shuttle service to/from airport.
Cons: Booked online as 'Ford Focus or equivalent'. Told at time of pickup from airport that it's actually for a Ford Fiesta or similar compact car, which is much smaller than a Focus/equiv and was not what I had booked the rental under. Clerk made it right and gave us a free upgrade to that size range of vehicle. When we were presented with vehicle, Hyundai Elantra, front tires were at wear bars. Seeing as it's front wheel drive and we anticipated snow, this would not work. Looked at two other equivalent vehicles, tires also bald, some well beyond wear bars. Inquired about a different vehicle, small Jeep crossover with good tires all around, and employee offered it as free upgrade.

Great service with Reno Payless!
Pros: The Payless service was excellent. I really appreciated that they had a shuttle that would come pick me up/drop me off without having to wait for a long time. It came immediately when I needed it!
Cons: I wasn't a fan of the car, itself, but that has nothing to do with the Payless service, which is what I value more when renting a car.

Beware: Counter closes at 11pm, despite letting yo
Cons: I booked the car for 11pm pickup but the counter was closed at that time. All other rental agencies were still open. There was a piece of paper with a number to call for after hours, I tried calling this number at least 20 times and nobody answered or called me back.
Avoid Payless at all cost.
Cons: The service at RNO was horrible and rude. The support at the call center as well. After receiving terrible service the car wasn't even ready when they said it would be and I had to wait more. Then, they overcharged me on my return and had to deal with that. I will never rent here again, or let anyone I know rent from Dollar. I hope they treat their employees better than their customers.

Pros: Everything was fine except for the very high cost of insurance.
Cons: Price given was deceptive. When we went to pick up the car the sales people convinced us that the insurance we had bought via Kayak was essentially worthless, then they sold us insurance that cost about $25/day, more than the rental itself. A second problem is that only SUV's had IPod ports -- this seems pretty basic in this day and age.

Pros: Extremely efficient, professional, and friendly group of sharply dressed young men running the show at this office. A+ on all levels. Vehicle rental was handled very competently, free upgrade made when regular size pickup was not available, etc.

Pros: They instructed us to proceed to any Firestone Tire Center to address a leaking tire. Discovered the tire had a nail and was not repairable. A new tire was put on and we were back on the road. Firestone Tire Center took care of everything with no hassle or charges.
Cons: They would not pick up at the airport even though they state free pickup. Enterprise office that handled the booking was close to the airport but we had to walk to a hotel across a dangerous four lane highway (with luggage in tow) to meet up with the pickup driver. We are in our 70's....It was not an easy task.

15 Passenger Ford Transit Van
Pros: The Mill St. Enterprise in Reno, NV was awesome. Although off-site from the airport, the Mill St. branch went out of their way to pick me and my family up from the Reno airport. We had six (6) passengers, eleven (11) checked bags and twelve (12) carry-ons. We were headed to Lake Tahoe for a ski vacation and were really pressed for time. We had family photos scheduled and a surprise marriage proposal planned in the early evening. Enterprise understood our need to depart the airport quickly and to get in and out of the rental car office quickly. They picked us up in the van that we had rented and I only needed to sign paperwork at the branch office. With people and luggage already loaded, we were on our way within 15 minutes. Great experience from beginning to end!
Cons: The 15 passenger Ford Transit van had plenty of room for people. However, a 10 or 12 passenger van with fewer seats and more storage space for luggage would have been preferred for our trip from the Reno airport to Lake Tahoe. Luggage had to be move around and over seats in order to get people and luggage to fit. This was a slight inconvenience but given the size of my party and amount of luggage, there wasn't too many other others to consider at the price I was given. A 15 passenger van for less than $490 for the week.

Good rental until the last hour
Pros: Car was clean and ran well
Cons: No one at the drop off point and we had to go into the terminal to check out. I felt uncomfortable leaving the car because no one checked to see that it was still in good condition.
Cons: I was charged $10 for 'late return'. I returned the car within 24 hours of renting it (for a one day charge) but I guess since I estimated the return time as earlier I was charged more.

Cons: My flight got diverted from Reno to Sacramento. I explained this to the Budget representative as I was waiting in baggage claim and she said there was nothing she could do and that it would be over $600 to pick up in Sacramento--more than 3 times the price I had booked online. So I cancelled the reservation and booked from another rental company for the same price I originally got online. Seems like a bad business policy by Budget.

Pros: After waiting for about 8 groups to get their car delivered to them, we go upgraded to a vehicle that was sitting in the garage. It was a more suitable vehicle for our trip.

Cons: The Budget staff behind the counter at the Reno airport where helpful, but I ended up not getting the car I had reserved - a compact because of the limited choices/availability. So then we tried an SUV but found the one we had selected had an open recall so that went back on the shelf. Ultimately I ended up with a slightly discounted Luxury car for my four day trip. When I did finally get the car, it was dirty on the inside and only slightly better on the outside.

Cons: This car drunk of cigarette smoke to the point where I had to open the windows to not feel sick. I thought I must have missed a selection box for smoking or non-smoking, so we didn't return the car and ask for another one at the time of pick up. However, at the time of drop off we spoke to Thrifty about it, since we learned that they have s no-smoking policy in their cars, and they gave us a free day of rental. The moral of the story is that if you are given a car that smells like cigarette smoke, go immediately back to the counter and ask for another car.

Pros: I wound up coming late for the car pick up. Agent was helpful and friendly. He actually appeared interested in our trip to Disneyland fro the grandson/sons birthday.

Didn't have reserved vehicle
Cons: Showed up at agreed time. Reserved vehicle not available. Clerk was apathetic - at best. Clerk suggested I wait to see if reserved vehicle shows up. Little to no effort made to secure comparable vehicle or to offer constructive alternatives
Cons: The agent who rented us the vehicle was not knowledgable about the care or what we as a customer needed. She flat out lied to us. The vehicle was horrible smelling; so much so I put my jacket on the back seat and it smelled so bad I had to plastic baggy it to pack in my suitcase and was without a jacket. We drove around in freezing temps with the windows down because it was so bad, for the 3-4 days we had it. I febreezed it and they didn't even help!
The entire experience was bad. They refunded part of our $ but doesn't make up for having to go to my own wedding in a smelly dress and jacket. Won't rent from them again. Totally ruined my trip.
