I ordered the car online for a specific rate and a type of vehicle When I went to pick it up they didn't have what I ordered and provided a "bigger" one And charged me a much higher rate even though I provided a receipt from online They gave me a number to call I did so and was given a confirmation number and was told they added in the 200 dollar deposit The car was not clean inside or out and smelled terribly of tobacco smoke in the trunk so I could not use for my belongings No body came out with me to car to.show how things work or do a walk around I took photos of marks, stone chips a d a ding I told them when I rented that I was not sure of the exact length of time maybe 2 weeks maybe less maybe more a d was told thst was okay Yesterday I received a.call saying it was overdue and unless I drove the 200 miles to Guelph to sign I would be charged 15 extra per day I spoke of the issue with the billing without resolve or resolution This rental was to provide me with transportation until my recently purchased car was ready This rental situation has been unpleasant and stressfulReviewed 14 Sept 2026

The pickup was good. The office was full of customers and the clerk was doing his best to take care of all the pickups and drop off customers as fast and complete as he could. A busy place always says good things about a company. The car was clean and very nice. It made a very comfortable trip. The drop off at the airport was extremely quick with the attendant treating me as soon as I got out of the car. A quick check and he said thank you and showed me the way to the airport check in. It was one of the nicest and easiest car rentals I have had at a very reasonable rate.Reviewed 11 Sept 2026

The pickup was a real disaster. Made us miss a $120 reservation at the Colesseum as we waited 2 hours after our 11am reservation for our car under scorching heat. Not recommending Avis for anyone.Reviewed 11 Sept 2026

I arrived after the agent closed even though I directly called Avis twice to arrange after hours pick up, as KAYAK advised me to. Avis does not have a 24/7 help line, only a sales line. At 2 am in a city and airport I'd never been in I was left without transportation or immediate help and was told if I didn't return at 7 am I would lose my reservation. Worst rental car experience ever and ended up costing me way more money due to Uber alternative. It was also a massive inconvenience as I was in town for my sister in laws funeral and was supposed to drive guests and family around.Reviewed 9 Sept 2026

They called and said they had to cancel my reservation because they didnt have a car available, even though I had a reservation. They offered no alternative options to me during that call and told me I'd have to call around myself to other Avis locations to see if they had a car and could take my booking.
