It was a terrible experience. We thought Hertz had the reputation for being the premier car rental agency. But several things happened during this rental that will make us never rent from them again. 1. The minivan we reserved was not even on-site when we arrived to pick it up even though I had called and talked to local rep the day before confirming when we would arrive. 2. The price we booked it at was not the price in their system and it took them calling an off-site manage to correct the rate. 3. Most importantly, the van we received 90 minutes after our designated pick-up time was not safe. When we started loading it with our items we noticed that the front passenger side tire was missing a lug nut. Upon further inspection we realized that the head had been sheared off meaning it had been stripped and if we had to change a tire we would not have been able to. We could not believe that their inspection at Hertz had failed to notice such an unsafe condition. We were unwilling to risk driving 900 miles on a tire that we did not know if it had been correctly mounted or what condition it was in. Finally, we had a add windshield wiper fluid to reservoir because it was completely empty. This was before noticing the tire situation. We promptly returned the van to Hertz, received many apologies from the representatives and took a smaller vehicle than we had originally wanted in an effort to get our trip underway. Poor service but more importantly being given an unsafe vehicle is unconscionable.Reviewed 4 Jun 2024

Cons:Transparency! The car I was promised was not what I got including the option. The car smelled of smoke and clearly the previous renter had animals. The car had dints and the appearance was very subpar. I was embarrassed to even drive it. It set in my garage the whole weekend. I even returned it on Sunday. I felt I was treated like a second class citizen and I all I got was sorry but it is what it is. The only satisfaction I got from this rental was returning it early!! I would never recommend Hertz to my friends and I would never rent from Hertz every again!!Reviewed 9 Mar 2021

Cons:Had to wait an hour to pick it up. It wasn't ready. Then, when they finally brought it out, it was filthy on the outside. The tire pressures were all wrong and there were many dents and dings on the exterior, including a stone chip on the windshield.Reviewed 28 Oct 2020

Pros:Staff was friendly to get an upgrade. All downhill from there!Cons:Upgraded car smelled like smoke. Chip in window. Windows were dirty and literally could not see out of rear view mirror. Had to clean manually. Gas was 3/4 filled!! Worst rental experience ever!!!Reviewed 1 Sep 2020
