I reserved an automatic car and was told by hertz that Kayak always has this problem with reservation. I was given a manual car, had to pay extra to get the one I want. Ended up $100 over the quoted price. Not sure who needs to see this. I hope it get resolved for future customers.Reviewed 9 Jul 2022

The pickup process took longer than expected. The cars didn’t seem to be ready for their pickup time. I don’t know what was causing the delay. It was a little anxiety producing because even though I knew I was going to get a car, I overheard someone being told there were no more cars (for a non refundable, prepaid reservation). Despite my declining the insurance coverages verbally (it is provided on our AMEX credit card) and on my Hertz profile, we were charged. Admittedly, when I checked after the fact, I did sign the contract that does indicate acceptance however, it was made VERY clear no insurance.Reviewed 26 Jun 2022

We were given a fully electric car. We have never used an electric car and didn't know how to charge it. We asked the lady who gave us the car and voiced our concerns, but she just said we'd be fine. She did not give us any directions about how to charge the vehicle even though we asked and instead just gave us a paper with some apps to use that she said would explain everything. The apps did not work well nor did they explain how to charge the car. So we ended up stranded at a station in the middle of nowhere trying to figure out how to charge the car. We called the Hertz station, and they said they would call us right back with instructions but did not call us back for an hour and a half and did not pick up our phone calls in the meantime. We finally found a local who was able to help us. It was upsetting that the car came with no instructions or guides about how to charge it and we received no help. The lady even made a comment about how if we were just going to drive to Sienna we shouldn't have needed to charge which makes it seem like our supposedly "unlimited mileage" vehicle was given to us with the expectation that we wouldn't drive more than 100 miles or so.Reviewed 26 May 2022

The price was the best at this location but it was super tricky to find. Not marked clearly. Car was not washed since they were busy and that was ok. Felt that the terms were very tight and the return at a new spot was crazy making. Most agencies were closed on Sunday and it was unclear where to drop off hours or where to take keys. Ended up going to rail termini in Rome just to make sure someone could check me in and there were no directions on where to take the car for returns there. Wasting about an hour circling around. Trying to find a person at the booth etc. not knowing Italian was def a hindrance. The staff were great once we found them. Car was very nice too. Just felt hertz could do a better job at clearly communicating where to both pick and then RETURN aaa they can be two different locations.Reviewed 25 Apr 2022
