Cons: I was charged 1,000 extra for scratches I had not caused.
Pros: The drop off was easy
Cons: The price advertised by Expedia / Europcar is a scam, they do not accept external insurance for whatever reason and over charge you on the spot.
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: They tried to blame me for damage that was on the car when I picked it up. Good thing I always take pictures!
Cons: We had no idea when we rented it online that the price quoted did not include insurance. We were absolutely shocked when. We arrive with our 4 small kids to find out we had to add hundreds of more euro on to the bill. It took away from our vacation completely.
Pros: Qualité de la voiture
Cons: Finalement chargé de 250€ en plus par rapport au prix affiché sur kayak lors de la réservation!!!! Localisation de retour du véhicule introuvable!!!! Personnel peu accueillant au retour.
Cons: Really nice clean car in and out fast service .
Pros: Super friendly staff (Peter at front desk was great) and car rental process was smooth.
Pros: We were able to pick car off at location in Dublin and return it to the Dublin airport.
Cons: When we booked car we were quoted $132 for the week. When we picked the car up we were told we had to take $500 in insurance. They told us you could deny it, but if you did they would place a hold on credit card for total cost of car
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff!
Cons: Got to be pretty expensive after insurance and there wasn’t a gas station near the drop off point. Also we didn’t realize the location is not in the terminal of the airport which was annoying
Pros: Me were delayed 2 days and car was not avable and reservation was canceled. call and informed them and car was to be avable but was not. I had to rent a other car for the day and it costed me about the same as my reservation. I will not be using you again.
Cons: It help if the hole reservation was not canceled if you miss a day as i already prepayed and no refund. The car should still be there as it is payed for.
Cons: CWD (minimum Insurance) should have been auto included in the rate. Due to the extortionate cost of CWD insurance at the point of rental, I was forced to cancel the rental.
Pros: Drop off was very straight forward and easy. The shuttle bus driver was super friendly and helpful.
Cons: The guy I was dealing with when picking up the car was extremely rude. He was passive aggressive and unhelpful. So much so that I ended up finishing the paperwork with someone in customer service who was lovely and helpful.
Cons: We rented a vehicle & when we got there, we were told we needed to upgrade to a bigger vehicle. Because, as the rep put it "we were Americans that didn't understand European cars". NOT true, we have traveled abroad several times & understand completely. There would have been plenty of room in the vehicle we reserved. Then when we told them we had purchased insurance through Allianz, he said it wasn't valid. We were forced into purchasing insurance for $50 per day!!! Unreal, he said we couldn't take the car without it & we were on our way to a wedding. I am appalled & then the car was even worse!!! We kept getting alerts that it needed AdBlue...we didn't even know what that was. I am furious & will be contacting Europcar.
Poor experience on pick-up
Pros: The car we were allocated was damaged and the damage had not been recorded. We refused to take the car away unless it was recorded. We involved 2 separate members of staff. Photos were taken by them and us but neither of the staff were willing to take responsibility for recording the damage. All in all, it took 1 1/2 hrs to deal with the pick-up of the car, a totally unreasonable amount of time especially on the end of a long international flight. In the end we drove the car away with the situation unresolved and feeling vulnerable to being charged for damage we had not incurred. After sending e-mails to Europcar, we eventually received an apology and a confirmation that the damage had been recorded. The car itself, a Fiat Panda, was unexceptional and lacking power. Unimpressive. As this was our first hire with Europcar, I think they could have done better.
Paid a lot more for insurance than expected.
Pros: Overall the car worked and got us to our destinations without any major issues. The staff at the Europcar center were friendly and professional. They also gave us a free upgrade when they noticed that the intermediate SUV we rented was not going to fit us all in comfortably.
Cons: At the counter the guy told us we need to be fully insured in Ireland by law and we ended up paying a lot more for insurance than expected. Some up front notes about this were booking the car online would have been nice. We didn't cover a lot of mileage on the trip, however the tyre pressure and the AdBlue warning signs came on and the wind screen wipers were terrible, these were obviously not checked after the previous rental.
Pros: THere was some dried liquid on the rear seat that the service personal hasd to clean before we drove off with the car. The customer service rep was walked out to the car and explained the unique aspects of the minivan that were good to know.
They double the rate by Requiring insurance
Pros: The car was nice clean ran very well no complaints about the car
Cons: In the future the website should state that you will have to buy insurance and the cost of insurance should be listed on the site. I was very disappointed the last minute been told I would have to pay an additional $220 for car insurance when I have a coverage on my credit card in my personal insurance it’s already covered that I felt I was being extorted because I had no place to go and I needed the car
Beware of the insurance costs
Pros: Easy pick up and drop off
Cons: Prior to renting, I talked with Europcar and was told the full insurance was going to be 19.95€ / day. At the counter I was told that rate was only for booking completed in the EU and the US rate was 52€ /day. With no options to shop around, I was stuck taking that 52€ / day rate, feeling totally ripped off.
Rented from a different company
Cons: Upon arrival, Europcar did not honor the price of the booking I had made, though I had the confirmation. They quoted a price three times the amount. I ended up walking out and finding a new rental agency on the same block.
A poorly managed location
Pros: - The car itself was great. We were offered an upgrade for the long wait time during pickup. However, it changed our rental from an automatic to a manual without that being made clear. - Front desk staff were competent and courteous.
Cons: - The office was overwhelmed and disorganized. The wait time picking up and dropping off was unacceptable. - The surprise insurance costs (which I had to get even though I already purchased a policy in advance) quadrupled the cost of the rental. This should have been made clear at the time I booked the rental. - An outdoor staff member was confrontational and verbally abusive to me.
Cons: The car had less than a half tank of gas when we picked it up, unfortunately we didn't notice this until we were a few miles down the road. We had to return full so we were out a 3/4 of a tank of gas.
Cons: In the end we had to change companies because they wanted us to pay $800 more for insurance. This place is a rip off
We'd use another company in the future.
Pros: Staff was helpful in programming a location not on our GPS.
Cons: Counter staff really pushing up-grades which we did not want or appreciate. Very confusing presentation of insurance options. Car wind screen (windshield) was so horribly fogged with the vinyl fog that it was dangerous to drive into the sun or on-coming headlights until next day when we could, with considerable effort, get it somewhat clean. Also, staff had affixed onto the inside of the windscreen the apparently required insurance data, and car identification data, but so high on the windscreen as to obscure the passenger view of the road really limiting ability to assist in navigation and general enjoyment of the drive. The car did not have cruise control which more reasonably priced cars we had rented on same trip had.
Cons: Their attitude. The cost changed from approx. €260 to €630 on arrival claiming I had refused CDW on booking. I did not.
Cons: My credit card covered rental insurance fully and Europcar asked for an email from my bank/credit card company before giving me the car. I had to call my credit card provider and have them send an email to Europcar. Pretty damn ridiculous. All told, I wasted three hours getting all this sorted, and even after I finally got them what they needed, they put a EURO 5,000 authorization charge on my account, an obscene amount for a one-week rental. Also: There's a 25 EURO airport surcharge that I was never made aware of, and a 35 EURO charge to travel into Northern Ireland, which I also wasn't made aware of until the time of payment. I recommend you book elsewhere, because a Google search tells me that not all car rental companies charge for traveling into Northern Ireland.
Never ever rent with Europcar
Cons: It was about $700 more than their predicted cost. Horrible customer service. Drop off experience was terrible. I will never rent with them again.
Not at all what we expected, we asked for onsite pickup not shuttle.
Pros: On return the Customer Serivice representative noticed my mom’s limited mobility and without question he said for her to in the car and her would drop her off for us at the departure doors.
Cons: We booked onsite pickup as i’m Travelling with my 85 year old mother who has limited mobility and was given shuttle service where I had to abandon my mom for over an hour with all the luggage while I went to a second line up. We booked a 4 door ford fiesta (or similar ) and we where given a smaller Hyundai 4 door model. This was very difficult as we need to travel with mobility walkers plus luggage. I rented from Euro car via Kayak before in Belgium & France and never had these issues. We checked prior to booking that my current car insurance covers world wide coverage for rental car I also checked with VISA the rental car coverage and they provided me we documents that ensure I wouldn’t have to purchase additional coverage but once we arrived the Customer Service representative stated that there is an additional 3rd party coverage that Euro Car needs us to purchase. No where in the original booking does it state that additional insurance coverage is required. I checked with other rental car companies online throughout Kayak and they state in their pricing the 3rd party coverage is included.
Will never use Europcar again!
Pros: The car was great. BMW 5 series
Cons: Car was booked to be at terminal pick up. It was at offsite lot instead and took nearly 2 hours to actually pick up the car at that rental lot. I missed a meeting due to that delay.
Cons: Last minute was told that a 9 seat vehicle was not available and the best i could get would be a 7 seater Check-in was a long wait I was informed that i could not waive Europcar insurance unless i had a letter from my credit card company outlining my coverages. I was not informed of this requirement before arriving to pick up the vehicle. Additional insurance cost 310 Euros for 4 days
they ripped us off!
Cons: they charged us 50 Euro a day for insurance at pick up and i was too tired from my 17 hours on a plane to dispute it.. then next day i found a deal for half the price online - THROUGH THE SAME COMPANY!!! SO I returned the rental car, but at a different location and was charged a different location fee and picked up a new car for half the price! They should have let me keep the car and adjusted my fees over the phone. total rip off - I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!
