Perth car hire

The windy and historic streets of Perth city centre are more easily navigated with a compact car, offering enough power to get you quickly from A to B while also being small enough to drive and park with ease. However, if you are planning on experiencing Scotland’s rugged countryside, perhaps a larger vehicle such as an estate or a 4x4 would be more appropriate for your journey.

The centre of Perth is largely 30mph, however the local council is in the process of trialling and implementing a number of 20mph zones to ensure that the city is as safe as possible. Always pay attention to road signs, as these speed limits can sometimes be temporary. Larger roads often have a speed limit of 40mph, while motorways implement the national speed limit, although some of these also have variable speed limits so always pay attention.

Perth offers a number of on-street parking options, which vary depending on your zone: all zones offer up to 1h for around £1.30, beyond which Zone 1 is only for short stays while Zones 2 and 3 offer long-term parking of up to 10h for around £10.70. Dedicated car parks can be found around the city centre, such as Scott Street Car Park, Canal Street Car Park, Charles Street Car Park and Leonard Street Car Park. Fortunately, these offer a simple pricing structure of around £1.30 per hour up to a limit of 4h.
