My flight from Chicago to Charlotte experience a 4 hour delayed due to storms and the closing of the airport in CLT (temporarily). By the time I landed in Charlotte, CarWiz was closed. I called and called and all I got was a recording stating the office is closed till next morning. I had to scramble and get a car at an astronomical price. I am NOT PAYING for anything with carWiz and I better not get charge for anything regarding this disaster of an experience.
After inquiring about discounts for activity military, I was told they had none. A week later they presented me an offer for $380 for 14 days which was about half of what they told me the week prior. Then when I went to go pick it up, they added an additional 390 in different fees. I don’t know if they try hoodwink everybody or just people in the military…
Was surprised it was required I had to pay $75 in liability insurance. Was that in the fine print?????
The car was clean and reliable, and the shuttle driver, who took me to back to the airport, was great. Otherwise, I would never recommend this rental company. My reservation was nonrefundable, which was fine, except for the fact that the agent, who checked me in, told me that I had to purchase their liability insurance because they didn’t “accept insurance from my insurance company” but that he would accept it for comp/collision coverage. Instead of losing the $190 I had already paid, I went ahead and purchased the liability insurance, for an additional $150. I then called my insurance agent, who assured me that my liability insurance would cover any rental car, in the US. I have attempted to have the $150 refunded to me, but have had a very difficult time reaching anyone who seems to be able to address the issue. Overall, I was very disappointed in the sneaky and unscrupulous practices this company employs.
Quite literally the worst experience with a car rental company I have ever had. Whatever you do, regardless of what supposed “deals” they are claiming to give you, steer clear of this company! CarWiz/NU car rentals are a joke. No customer service. They aren’t upfront about added costs and insurance additions, and then gouge you once you’re there to actually pick up the vehicle and don’t have options to change your reservation without a penalty. I would be more likely to sell my first born child off than to ever utilize this company again.
I never received a car or got my money back yet I need to speak with a manager please.
