The only thing good about the Royal Hotel was the breskfast.
Access to the bedrooms was cold, dull and dreary. Difficult to find staff if you required them.
The proximity to the building where we attended a meeting; the nearness of the shops; the quality of the meals.
We enjoyed our stay.
The food was very good.
When we arrived the room was cold and smelt damp, although the staff did provide us with an extra heater which made things much better.
The hotel was very centrally located and the staff and owner were extremely friendly. I had read that they had renovations done but, I think the annexe part of the building does need a face lift and the rooms could be better furnished. I cannot fault the hotel staff who were so helpful and could not do enough for you. I would stay there again but, next time I would go for the superior rooms.
The heating was not very good and the room we stayed in was worked off the building gas central heating system, which was not on very often, all other rooms had adjustable heating system. I found the room extremely cold and it was at the top of the building. During this time the weather was extremely windy, and raining (this is in Scotland) The room furniture is out dated and could do with modernising, it all looks very tired and you cannot see any sign of rennovation work unless this was carried out to the main building. The bathrooms are very basic and old fashioned no waste bins in there and an old net curtain round the sink to hide the pipes!!
speedy check in and out
cold in bedroom
The staff were very friendly, and gave information about local entertainment and activities
Helpfull & pleasant staff, nice rooms, good food
Hotel decor poor and carpets very dirty dull and dreary overall
