Staff member at the terminal was awesome. Very personable, efficient and professional. I walked away satisfied and laughing at our last exchange. She was the last employee I saw while picking up our vehicle. Upon returning our vehicle we did locate an employee in the lot who was also quite friendly.Cons:
The vehicle was dirty from the top to the wheel wells. The rear seats were still down which made it easier to put our luggage away but the area clearly had not been vacuumed. There were no employees to be found in the lot. There was a damaged front headlight which had markings on it indicating that it had already been observed by staff. Upon putting up the rear seats to pick up our children at the airport, We noticed that all rear seats were covered with dog foot prints of mud which I had to clean prior to picking up our guests. Had reserved a small car -- but only a truck was available. Was told to come back the next day, when there would be plenty of cars, and swap it out for a small car. Did that -- told us that no cars were available (all cars reserved -- tho of course my car was reserved too). Told to come back the next day between 8-10am -- when there would surely be plenty of cars. Did...and after 30 minutes (first saying there were no cars) they found a small car. Incidentally, had tried to call ahead each time but the main office didn't know the local car situation and no one answered the phone at the local office. Local office told me that they don't have anyone available to answer the phone. This isn't a problem that can be solved without people driving all the way to the airport to find out if there are cars available?9.2 Wonderful

The 2nd car was clean & in good working condition. Try’s car w/ cracked windshield & followed all instructions when I called in & got case #, did follow up before returning car. Simple “incident report” done upon return, easy, 15 min to do paperwork so was impressed they gave outside service, avoiding lines inside terminal.Cons:

The car had very dirty , spotted windows making it hard to see. Particularly the side rear view and the back window. The paper work and other trash was left in the car from the renter before me. Also, the charger did not work and I ran out of battery on my phone. This resulted in losing the GPS directions. The man that waited on me in Sarasota was curt and unfriendly.6.4 Okay

Cons:
The steering on the vehicle was defective and it was dangerous to drive. After I drove to my destination ,which was about 60 miles away from the Avis location I never drove the vehicle. I would have returned it immediately however it was just before Hurricane Irma struck and I hadn't to get my wife and myself to safety. It was a frightening drive. I called the Avis help the next day and explained the problem to them. A tow truck was sent to retrieve the vehicle that day and I thought that would be the end of it. However, I received my American Express bill with a charge of $464.12 which I have challenged. I should not have to pay for a defective vehicle which I only drove for about 60 miles and only because I had no choice.Not only that, but the invoice I received from Avis shows a balance of $464.12 and reflects that I drove the vehicle for 351 miles which is absolutely false. The only time I drove the vehicle was the day I rented it Since I rented the vehicle thru you, I would appreciate it if you would try to resolve this issue for me as I have no intention of paying for a defective vehicle. I called to let them know I needed the car two days earlier. Had to leave a voice mail and got no return call. Didn't know where to find the shuttle. Took forever to process paper work. When we went to return the car, there was no one there. We had to call two different numbers to get someone there to check the car in and give us a ride to the airport. HORRIBLE!!!! Bill was extremely helpful in adjusting the amount overcharged. Paul was also a pleasure. Everything about our encounter was very very nice. The drop off process was very easy. if I was not overcharged I would have been out of there in 5 minutes.Cons:
