Cons:

I have been renting cars in Montego Bay for 10 yrs and have probably used most if not all of the companies at one point. Sixt was the best experience so far. Great customer service from the team. Clean and quality vehicle. Prompt and on time with a full tank of gas. I have had some rental companies give me a car with the gas light on and only two miles of gas left etc. Very happy will use Sixt again on my next visit.

Everything was excellent except dropping off the vehicle. There need to be arrow signs at all intersection directing customers to the point off the vehicle. I had to spend too much time driving around in circles to eventually get to the point of dropping it off

We loved the small car, it was easy to get around with it, drop off went smooth, pick up took forever, waited more than 40mins outside in the heat the driver to get us. Other than that we were happy with everything :)

Cons:

I arrived and was simply told "there's no vehicle available and we can REFER you to a competitor." I understand the travel industry consistently overbook to maximize revenues, but this could have been a very different scenario if it was properly handled right. Dissappointing experience!

Pros:

Thanks for kindnesses of strangers. .Even though it's late at night, budget, avis and thrifty were very helpful. Only one company was going to get my business. They all talked to one another so that I got the best deal.

Yeah I got delayed, but where are you. No phone ,or office. How am I to get a rental. Even when information got your # why didn't you answer

Pros:

The customer service was Poor and extremely slow. It took approximately 2 hours to finish the paperwork. I was taken off-airport to another site to complete the paperwork. There I was told the booking was not with Hertz but with another company called "Firefly." These people appear to running a sub-standard rental service with old and salvaged vehicles with the Hertz brand as cover. The car provided was an old model year Toyota Corolla that looked like it was salvaged from an accident. They made an effort to clean it but it still had a weird smell and it looked battered. Despite the substandard look of the car, I took it anyway in order to remain loyal to Hertz as Gold Plus member and gain some points. On the drive to the hotel I noticed the car was extremely mis-aligned, it had a significant drift to the right. The engine struggled the whole time for the 10 mile trip that was mostly flat. I intended to travel across the island and I had serious doubts the car would be able to make it especially over the steep hills of Jamaica. I knew for sure it would be difficult if not unsafe to drive it at highway speed due to the mis-alignment so I returned it with the intention of getting a newer, better car. Upon returning to the airport, they had a newer model Toyota Corolla on the lot but they said it would cost me more because the newer car is a Hertz vehicle while the older car with the lower rate is the "Firely" rental. There was no documentation during the booking process that showed any reference to Firefly, I thought I was booking a Hertz rental. I feel I was SCAMMED. I asked to be given the newer "Hertz" vehicle for the same rate but they refused. Five hours after landing and beginning the rental process I'm still dealing with a rental car issue. Luckily, I also had a reservation with Island rental car. I asked Hertz to void my current rental because I will be going over to Island car rental to get a car, They were not fazed by that threat, they did not seem to want to keep the business which I found odd. They voided the rental after a significant amount of that persuading them that I should not be charged for the day because the car was in bad mechanical shape and I did not use apart from driving to the hotel and back. I then walked over to the Island Car rental counter and about 15 minutes later I drove away in newer Toyota Corolla. Note that the Island rental rate was less that the Hertz rate but I had chosen to go with the Hertz brand because I know them and rent from them while on business trips in the States. This event has tarnished the Hertz brand for me. When I am renting again in Jamaica I will avoid Hertz. I will definitely recommend and use Island Car Rental again.

Cons:

The whole experience was terrible. The process is too slow. The operation runs like they are in the 1980s. Why are they using so much paper and carbon copies in 2017? If this is a true Hertz rental facility they need to update their operations processes - it should not take two hours to complete a rental contract.

The price we agreed to pay on the reservation was not what we were charged at the counter. The counter agent made us pay for additional insurance, despite the fact that we had proof of insurance for the vehicle being provided from another source. The agent was unbudging and refused to rent us the car if we did not pay the additional fee, which was almost 1/2 of the original cost for the rental! This made the check out process horrible, and it took over 3 hours to get the car after we asked for it!

Pros:

The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Pick up and return to the airport was very fast.

Cons:

I was not told that I had to put down $1000US deposit. That was a gut hit to start a vacation. While we had no mechanical issues the quality of the car left deep concern that we could. Luckily, we had the car incident free. I think the basic details for renting in particular country needs to be explained when that location is selected during the booking process or any requirements for the selected rental company. I am still awaiting my deposit to be returned. It's crazy that I had to pay up $1000US defore I could get the car but now have to wait days after returning the car to get my deposit back. Worse of all my booking was for 4/12 to 4/20 and they had me down for returning the car on 4/19 at the same rate I was quote when booking the car. My reservations stated - week + 1day. They wanted to change me $52 more for 20th. Fortunately, I had my reservation info and they wrote off the last day as part of my reservation.

There were hidden few fees that the reps tried to reconcile. They charged a fee for pick and drop off that was not communicated anywhere online. The reps attempted to add Rental insurance even though it was covered by credit card. Just seemed like the reps were scammers. Will never use them again.

Nothing-I will never do business with budget. There was not one good thing. We didn't even get the car. I had to go to Enterprise. I made two reservations and when we arrived. The employees refused to give me the car we had confirmed. We stood there for over 2 hours. The employees said I would of had to pay $2200 to rent the car I already had confiremed months prior to my arrival. Then they mocked me and said they would give me a two door car and I had a baby, car seat, a stroller and five 50 lbs bags. My child was extremely hot and screaming the entire time because the heat was unbearable. When I asked to speak to a manager they said she was in a meeting for the next week. Then it got to a point when they just kept rolling their eyes And condescending. I will be writing a letter to corporate and to kayak.

Pros:

Upgraded at no charge to a Suzuki Baleno. Great fuel economy, plenty of room and cargo space. Car was loke new and clean.

Cons:

Check in took a while, but by Jamaican standards went pretty smoothe. All the rental companies are in a tiny lot at MBJ airport. A little challenging maneuvering to the main road.

When I arrived at the Europcar desk in Montego Bay nobody was there I had to wait for 30 minutes before someone turned up. They tried to take $1500 for the deposit instead of the $1000 deposit which was stated on my booking. Worse still they did not give me the Suzuki Vitara jeep that I had booked and paid for in advance. Instead they gave me a people carrier on a temporary basis but the sat nav and spoken instructions were in Japanese. I do not speak Japanese! They said there was a minor problem with the Suzuki Vitara which would be fixed but they would bring the car to me the following day to the place where I was staying instead. They did not fulfil this arrangement and did not contact me at all regarding the the car. I called them every day since my arrival to find out when would the Suzuki be delivered to me, as the people carrier was totally unsuitable for my needs. They were unable to give me an update on the situation. On the sixth day of my trip I spoke to the so-called Customer Services desk again and all they could do was apologise and then they told me that the Suzuki was now ready for me to collect at the airport. I told them that it was unreasonable to expect me to drive back to the airport to collect the Suzuki when they should have delivered it to me as they agreed. Besides, I was actually leaving Jamaica the following day. I have heard that this may have been a scam as Europcar may have given the Suzuki Vitara car to another Customer and charged them a premium price for it. Don't use Europcar Montego Bay!

I like the customer service from Malcolm who listened to my concerns and addressed the issue a few days later. The first car I received had a cloudy speedometer and i could only be seen from 40 km onwards. As they had ran out of cars, I was told to return it the following day at 11:30am for another, but when I showed up Malcolm was not there and I met a rude, grumpy person, who could not be bothered, told me they had no cars, and when I pointed out another to him, he told me it was not clean. I told him I would still take it as I could see the dials. I asked him to clean/ sanitize the inside (steering wheel etc) and he offered me very a dirty cloth. I asked him to clean it and he became grumpier and told me he had nothing to clean it with. I then asked him to note the defects on the car and he told me both he and Malcolm knew all the faults on all their cars. I had to go around the car and insisted that he made a note of all scratches and dents. Most of their cars are old and for what they are worth, I believe they over charge. I would only ever rent from them again if I knew I would be dealing with Malcolm.

Firefly didn't have the minivan we'd booked for our trip! Neither did they have the 2nd minivan my brother had booked. We ended up squeezed into cars instead. Also they charge you insurance at the desk which makes the total price the same as more reputable hire companies. I will avoid in future.
