Pros: The staff at the Philadelphia off-airport location were very helpful, and they made the pickup quick and easy.Cons: As I waited outside the airport for the shuttle to bring me to the rental car lot, the blue National/Alamo bus approached as I waved, then drove right past me without even slowing. I'd been waiting for a while. A Dollar/Thrifty driver slowed down to check on me when I wasn't even waving at him, and ended up giving me a ride and dropping me off outside Alamo. So that was exceptionally cool and even heartwarming. When I mentioned it to the Alamo desk staff, they did give me a $25 discount. So ... I'm all good with it.

Pros: The rental process was fine and quickly done.Cons: The Rav 4 we rented seemed underpowered and kept dropping into eco mode. The car also smelled a lot of smoke like cigarettes and the wiper blades were worn enough to make driving in rain tough. Not a good value for the cost of $585.

Cons: They didn't tell me my rental was no longer available. They tried calling me to tell me an hour before my car was due to be picked up to tell me that it was unavailable but I missed the call and ended up going in person to then be told I can't pick up my car. They could have emailed me or left a text message but they did not bother to go to that extent. Didn't even get some sort of voucher or coupon to compensate my going all the way in person to pick up the car. Very horrible experience overall.

Pros: The staff were decent. they were friendly and somewhat understanding. The car I received was not the car reserved. and the car received had a horrible odor that the staff tried to convince me of cleaning products. IT WAS NOT!!!! and it smelled so bad the whole trip i had to personally buy air fresheners. Literally!!!! and i know some of my stuff smelled like the car after a few hours. NO GOOD!!!!!!!!!Cons: I asked for a better smelling car before i took it off the lot and they convinced me that the smell would go away. No the smell didnt. Car ran smooth.... also it woulda been nice to have some gas in the car before leaving the lot too.

Pros: Drop off was fine.Cons: There were no cars there when I arrived at my scheduled pick up time, and 5 other people waiting for the same reason. After waiting an hour and a half they drove me half an hour away to to a run down, dirty location in Kensington for a car with bird droppings all over and several dents and scrapes.

Pros: Nothing.Cons: Arrived at Avis at the PHL airport and the line was out the door into the parking lot. Avis was running out of cars because they clearly were OVER overbooked. After 30 minutes of waiting in the parking lot, a worker came out to tell anyone who booked a reservation after 12 noon on 6/27 would not get a vehicle and their reservation would not be honored (even if you already pre-paid). Thankfully, I booked my vehicle prior to 12noon. Despite customers leaving after hearing the news, I waited in line for over an hour to get my rental. There were five (5) employees working, only 1 and sometimes 2 of them who actually took care of any customers. I’ll never return to Avis again.

Pros: First time using Avis; after a nearly vacation-ruining bad experience with Enterprise I decided to go elsewhere this time...and it was great! Easy bus pick up curbside at PHL, friendly staff, and a nice and clean car. I have no complaints and will be using Avis again. Getting a hybrid was a super nice bonus cuz we saved on gas.Cons: This is really really picky but the car had recently been through a car wash and the soap scum dots on the mirrors made it hard to see in the sunlight. Totally not a big deal- I just wiped them down with a paper towel as soon as I had the opportunity to stop.

Cons: I scheduled a pickup at 8 pm. Arrived to find the location closed. It took an hour and a half and five phone calls to speak to a human, only to be told that I would have to pick up the car the next morning. Screwed up my travel plans. The customer service operator said that it is a known problem with their reservation system; inexcusable! Also, the car smelled of cigarette smoke, and had two chips in the windshield that they didn't note when I picked it up.

Pros: NothingCons: Sixt did not have our rental when we arrived. This was despite the fact I had called to confirm our reservation twice before leaving because I had never used Sixt before. The actual office itself doesn't have a phone (I tried calling them many, many times) so the only person available to talk to is a customer service rep in corporate. The only comparable car was an upgrade that they were asking $150 additional for, rather than comping us for their mistake. Since they did not have a car available for us, we had to scramble the same day to find another one at a different rental company. I would never use this company again.

Cons: Long line for pick up, no social distancing. Not enough staff to take care of customers and not enough cars. It seemed very disorganized. Some of the staff were not very friendly. Shuttle service back to the airport upon return was even more of a disaster, the driver didn’t even attempt to help as I struggled with my bags. He kept forgetting the airline to drop me off. The car had engine oil change light on from when I picked it up. Was not impressed by any part of the service .

Having just completed a rental with ALAMO, where the service was impeccable (discounted one rental day for car being dirty) there was a dramatic difference in customer service.

They rebooked us on a direct out of JFK -- but Thrifty said they wouldn't waive the change fee for the drop off charge. So much for "we're all in this together" from COVID...

Cons: The only issue we had was a low tire pressure indicator that registered soon after pickup. Thrifty was prepared to replace our rental, but we speculated that frigid temperatures were the cause of the warning. A quick stop for air solved the issue entirely. Perhaps, when temperatures dive suddenly, an all-around tire pressure check might be in order.

Pros: After hours drop was easy and availableCons: The rental car had dangerously high tire pressures. The light went on so we went to a local garage to check and it turned out that three of the four tires had double the recommended pressure. Had we hit a bad bump in the road, it could've ended very poorly.

Pros: Apparently I did not book Hertz at the airport but at an offsite site. The staff at the airport were not very helpful and said they had no cars available, Recommended we call Uber or take a taxi. We did take a take a taxi and $56.00 later found the site behind a Marriott hotel. There were no signs for Hertz when we finally the site they closed at 4:00. We then had to take the taxi back to the airport.. The driver was very helpful and we made a reservation with Avis.Cons: Everything.

Pros: Upgraded no extra charge to a better vehicle.Cons: Better information prior to reservation on insurance and coverage. Car was filthy with peanut shells in back seats, stains and what looked like dried soda on the doors. Power steering on the vehicle sucked and seemed like it didn't have much power in idle (didn't even have to hit the brake to keep the car from moving). Capacity is deceptive when it says a # of passengers (it includes the driver) which was unknown. It was like a maze trying to get to and from the lot, nobody leads you to the car and inspects it with you before departure and upon return. Gas said it was to be a full tank, came with 6/8 or 3/4 tank, which didn't matter much. Only got one key.

Cons: They did not have a car for us. It was extremely frustrating to change all of our travel plans because they ran out of cars even though they gave us the confirmation number. This is not acceptable.

Pros: Absolutely nothing. This was one of the worst travel experiences of my life.Cons: The pickup and dropoff points were closed during the times I had booked the car. I had no idea where to drop off the car, there was zero signage, and I am still being charged for the car. No one would pick up the phone, including Hertz's EMERGENCY number. I am disgusted and will never use this company again.

Pros: Over all it was a good experience.Cons: The wait for the shuttle bus at Philadelphia airport was way too long. The other rental companies had 2-3 shuttles come and go in the time we waited for your shuttle. I started wondering if you weren’t running shuttles. Then when we got on the shuttle it was hot with no ac.

Pros: The price was greatCons: The Philadelphia desk staff is THE WORST & waited in 23 degree weather for 25 minutes for a shuttle back to the airport to catch my flight - shuttle never arrived & we were advised to lug all of our bags through & across the PARKING LOT to get to Avis (next door) to get their shuttle because Avis shuttles were running every 10 minutes ... terrible experience

Pros: The staff was overworked and clearly stressed, and the line of people in front of me was long (we waited 10-15 minutes to be seen). But the woman who serviced me when I picked up the car was courteous and professional.Cons: When I returned the car, I was charged $169. The price I was originally given when I made my reservation—the price I agreed to—was $85.83. I was billed for miles and I was also billed for dropping the car off in a different state, even though my original quote specifically stated unlimited mileage and a drop-off in Maryland. I was able to get a refund for most of the incorrect charges, but it was frustrating and burned time I didn't have to spare. There was also a lot of chaos and general confusion in the office. Needless to say: it wasn't a great experience.

Cons: It was a very long wait to get the shuttle from PHL airport. I tried calling local number several times to be out on hold or auto transfered to the main Payless number. The main number was not helpful to getting the shuttle. The car was not clean, smelled like smoke, & had tire sensors lights going off. Was told it was the only car available & they knew about the problems, so don't worry. I hope they were right.

Pros: NothingCons: Do not use this Website or Payless. I was stranded at the Philadelphia Airport without a car because they don’t honor 3rd party providers. I had a confirmed reservation and my credit was charged but Payless told me to call Hertz and I did. And there were other people waiting for the Payless shuttle that never came so they got on the Hertz shuttle with us and got a car. Will I get my money back- probably not!

Rental Truck Bed Too SmallPros: The purpose of the rental was to haul a new mattress. It would not fit in the tiny bed. The next size up in pick up truck would have doubled the price. The person working the counter was less than enthusiastic.

Pros: My flight to PHL was late Fri evening and 30th Street Station National office was closed. However, the agent who I called to re-book for the next morning was outstanding, She looked up my old preferred customer (or whatever) number and got me a better deal.Then the next morning at the desk I asked about upgrading to a larger vehicle and the agent gave it me at no increase in cost. Reasons to come back to National.Cons: Car hadn't been washed.

National Car Rental is an AMAZING company to work with!Pros: From the first click on-line, to being greeted at the reception desk to sign-in at the National counter to pick up the rental car....just incredible. Everyone on the National team was top notch in their attention to details, and their customer service: stellar, truly. To the attendant who finalized our transaction paperwork, to the team member who escorted us to our rental car...simply amazing. We were struck by National's competence and we vowed to never use any other service except the best: National. A model company that all others should be measured by...exemplary in every aspect.

Cars Were Smelly Or Unusable/Counter Person Had anCons: My Chrysler 200 had a stain on the driver's seat and the interior smelled. The first car offered was a Nissan that someone had sprayed the gages on the dash with something that had dried and couldn't come off, making them unreadable. The woman at the counter gave me an attitude when she couldn't understand my email address. Never again National Car Rental!

Pros: pricing was one thingCons: . a little seedy. car was not clean inside or out. the rental signing process a little outdated and in an uncomfortable setting. In the end, the pricing was not that much cheaper than the nationals/brand names. The policy about the rental period is strict. severe penalty for dropping off after 24 hour period...so ridiculous that I uber'ed to a couple places after I returned the car. My flight came in early and I picked up an hour earlier than anticipated but was leaving at my expected time 26 hours later. 2 extra hours was double the cost.

Pros: Due to trouble with the mechanics of the car Rent a Wreck is refunding a day's charge. This should be back in account within 3 days, they say.Cons: The muffler came semidetached and it sounded like a street rod. I'm nor sure if this was a safety hazard or not but it wasn't good.

Will not rent from them againPros: I got a rental car on a day when there were almost zero options for rental cars at the airport.Cons: Waited 2 hours to get the reserved car, car exterior was damaged and severely needed washing, and finding the place was tough. It was the worst car rental experience I have had in 20 years.

Ridiculous CompanyPros: Nothing! We never got a car!Cons: They don’t pick up where the other rental car companies pick up for a shuttle. But they also never told us this. So we’re waiting in the freezing cold waiting for a shuttle with our infant son for a while until I finally call customer service. They tell me i need to send a text message to a sketchy number to pick us up somewhere else in the airport! Huh?! So we do that and they never come! Seriously! Never come! We went to Alamo instead that night and they were wonderful. Do not trust this company. They are a scam!!!

Cons: We made reservation on 11/10. Landed at Philly at 5:30pm. Bad experience from first unable to find shuttle location. Waste almost 45mins to get to ez rental car office. Then was told no car available. (There are 3 customers there). Told us can give us ride to other car rental office. But the driver just dropped us back to the airport again. By the time we got car at other car rental lamo it was close to 8pm. Waste More than 2 hours to get reserved car from ez car rental at other car rental almo. What a joke. I could drive from Boston to Philly for same time and save $600 and headache. I will never rent a car from EZ.

Cons: My 1st time using Kayak and will be my last. I gave Kayak a chance and it was a mistake. I needed a rent car in Philadelphia and i booked through Kayak. My travel plans got delayed which caused me to arrive in Philly after 8 p.m. I found out that the EZ rental facility closed at 8pm and i wouldn't be there until 10pm. 8pm is not very late and it completely screwed up my rental plans. Because EZ rental wouldn't allow me to get my car after 8pm i attemped to cancel the kayak reservation and they absolutely would not refund my money despite my unfortunate circumstances. So now I have to pay over $200 for a rental i didn't even use. The worst part is i STILL had to pay to get another car rental elsewhere on top of my Kayak rental. I gave Kayak a chance and I am very disappointed that i did. I wouldn't have any bad feelings if kayak would just refund my money for a rental that i wasn't able to use. When i found out my travel plans were going to be delayed I tried to cancel my rental before it started and still kayak wouldnt work with me. I would understand more if i missed the rental completely but i let them know before i was scheduled to even begin my rental.

Pros: The car worked.Cons: We lost my husbands sister and had to get to De for a funeral, When we arrived there was a line to pick up car. Only one person to take care of the customer. We got taken care of bye a lady. she was doing the best she could being the only one there. we went to the car , looked it over and had no idea how to start the car, we do not have a car that you dont need a key to start. So we had no idea how to start it. we looked it over the car was dirty and I went in to ask for help. As I said she was alone. I asked her if there was anyone to help us she said no just her she would be out in a few minutes. She came out explined you must put your foot on brake to start the car. My husband thought the car ran rough . itdid not feel right we found out that a front tire and a rear tire had only 12 lbs of air in them we put air in them and it was much better. the drop off was bad also . we had a 6 am flight back home she had explained to us we go to a little building and there will be someone to check us back in after hours. when we arrived at 4 am there was no one there so we had to take a ticket to get in and park the car. there as a shuttle coming through at the time so we got on and told him what happened , we ended up giving the keys to him. he assured us he would take care of it. I called later that afternoon and explained what happened and they kinda got nasty about us giving the keys and leaving the car in the wrong spot. she said she would check with the driver. he had returned the key. I received an email all was ell . and it could take up to 21 days to get my deposit back. I will never use this company again. they were ok in the emergency but never again.
