We tried to extend bring forward our booking but could not get the extra 4days required … even with an upgrade .. no cars avail Not enough staff Staff forgot to give us chains we had paid for - we had to come back and get them First car had no usb charger !! First got a stone chip - we returned and got charged $52 or so dollars - but did get to swap car

Pickup was bad. We were just told to sign the electronic keypad (wording small). Then we were handed keys and told to go out the door and get our car. There was NO ONE to inspect or go over the car (not the one we booked) with us anywhere! Two days after we picked up the car we received an email saying we had around an hour to take pictures of our rental and attach them. Too Late! We were not told that at the end we would have to pay extra $. The pickup guy was nice but off site due to staffing shortages. The drivers side of the car had no floor mat. Maybe that was the 200$ extra you charged us.

We rented a 4x4 because it was the only 4-wheel drive option available when we went to upgrade our sedan. It felt like a new truck which was great and it rode very smoothly, even as I was very unfamiliar/uncomfortable driving such a large vehicle.

Rental was very clean and very nice. Only hiccup was that we were a day late with our travel bc of the cyclone and they’d moved the car to another lot and I had to sort of find the car on my own. But, everyone was super helpful and friendly. Just a bit confusing bc of the pickup issue

Liked the new low milage Rav4 we rented. Not happy about the fuel sercvice charge added to our bill. The car was not "topped off with fuel when we picked it up as I found out the first time I refueled and drove almost a 100 kilometers before the gauge appeared when I picked up the car. i returned the vehicle with at least as much fuel in it as when I picked it up

The customer service was topnotch! She really helped us out in a pinch when we found out our reservation pick up and drop off were not at the airport(s) like we were expecting. The car was in excellent conditions, clean, and modern with its in dash touchscreen system.

I did not enjoy this experience. Reception was unclean. Staff were unhelpful, argumentative and unfriendly. Also appeared to be untrained. It was slooooooooow. Staff were defensive - clearly I was not the first person that day who was reacting to the poor communication and system.

There was three people working but only one person manning a computer. Check-in per person takes about 20 minutes and there's lots of printing and signing paperwork. The car smelled like gasoline had been spilled in it, the infant car seat was broken and unable to be tightened and they were unable to provide a replacement! The second car in the party was not even available as they run on a thin margin of car availability and it hadn't been returned. When it was returned it had no gas (on empty with notification lights) and they refused to gas it. This car had about 60k miles on it and was in poor condition. Third rental car in the group battery died and had to be jumped to get back to the airport. Yay!

Cons:

Our flight came in late and we missed the pick up window. I emailed Budget to let them know, but this message didn't get through to the rental location. When we picked up our car, the woman was not very friendly and said we missed our window and it was given away. She said they had no cars left for us. She did not give us other options of where to rent or what to do in this situation. She did not show sympathy either. Do not rent from Budget. We went with Europcar in the end. They were nice and had a great car for us (and their counter was right next to the Budget one).

Bluetooth wasn’t working in car, had to drop off off car early but no place to drop keys off. Called when we arrived back home to let them know where keys were they said thank you, then got a call on a Sunday from a man yelling saying if we didn’t return the car we would be charged another day?!! Had to call him back letting him know what happened, got another call from him yelling again.. the experience was awful

Great from start to finish. Even though offsite there were no problems with pick up or drop off. Particular mention for our shuttle driver who was extremely friendly and professional and a great representative for your company. Very good value for money.

there was a bit of confusion around the pick up area at Queenstown airport not only for myself but another party as well. Clearer instructions need to be provided. The vehicle wasn't new with 108,000 km on the clock, but was in very good condition at a better price than some other main stream rentals. The business is quite literally run out of a container by a small family group who seemed to be rushing around cleaning vehicles as they were dropped off for the next customer, heane the vehicles weren't in spottlessly clean condition but nothing too major. The advertisement suggested the vehicles were at the airport, this is not the case, rather a shuttle to the far side of the airport only a 3 minute drive away. I would use them again as long as the price was right

They initially tried to supply us with a small Toyota Vitz instead of a Corolla. After checking our voucher they offered us a Corolla but would have to wait a couple of hours for cleaning, but we could take the Vitz in the meantime. We accepted this offer, but then they said they’d clean the car while we waited as it wouldn’t take very long as it had already been cleaned on the outside. After watching them quickly hoover the car for 5 minutes (not exactly a thorough clean considering the current pandemic) we took the car. Before leaving the “yard” we took photos of the car and nearly every panel had some form of damage on it, and it wasn’t particularly clean inside or out!
