My experience was not good. Despite calling the afternoon of my pickup date to confirm that my car would be held and ready for pickup, when I arrived in Sarasota, there was not even an agent at the desk. Then when I finally was able to work with an agent, they did not have the car I rented. They had the option of a huge truck or a tiny car. This was not conducive to the activities of our trip, but I didn’t have the option of waiting or coming back a different day. Thankfully at least I got a car as there were over 10 people behind me and there were only 2 cars left to rent so other people didn’t even get a car. But because I got a huge truck the expense of gas was outrageous and parking was impossible.Reviewed 24 Jul 2026

I booked a hybrid car. They gave me an suv saying it was an upgrade. It’s not an upgrade when you want a hybrid. It’s a downgrade. I probably spent an extra $50 on gas. Going to reach out to Hertz corporate about it.Reviewed 24 Jul 2026

FYI, Hertz called and said No vehicles available at this location and could not help me. They said call and ask to transfer reservation to the airport and we did and but they wanted to charge us five times the amount of our original reservation and we would also have to pay $60 to get an Uber to the airport when the Hertz location we selected was just a couple of blocks away. Ridiculous bad customer service and I will Never use Hertz Rental Car again.Reviewed 22 Jul 2026

I was charged twice because the first payment didn’t go through on hertz end but did go through on my banks end. Had to have money transferred to make a second transaction for it to go through hertz end. The car I reserved was not provided to and was provided a small car which was not what I asked for. I had to upgraded to a different car and was charged additional because the vehicle was priced higher. The car was not cleaned and the representative didn’t even show us where the car was we had to search for it ourselves nor was I shown how to put the car in drive, reverse or park. I had to figure it out myself. This location had poor service and took 3hrs to pick up the vehicle. I showed up at the 12pm which was my pick up scheduled time and didn’t leave the facility until 3pm, freaking ridiculous especially since it wasn’t the vehicle I reserved. Makes me not want to ever rent a car again because it is to much of a hassle.Reviewed 22 Jul 2026

Tried to rent a car but they insisted they needed to see my passport, said my driver's license is not good enough. Didn't have my passport with me so went to Enterprise and rented with no passport and no trouble.Reviewed 22 Jul 2026
