Horrible application by KAYAK
Pros: During the Reservation/Confirmation process, KAYAK failed to inform me that Alamo does NOT accept Debit cards, except under certain circumstances. This could have caused me to become stranded if it were not for Avis accepting my method of payment. Also, your Email survey form would not allow me to CHECK the boxes... if it were possible, I would have selected POOR for all areas. David Jones email@example.com

Pros: Are putting a command at the wrong airport and we had to rent from Knoxville back to Asheville. We got upgraded and the price was extremely reasonable. No problem with drop off. It was all very efficient

Pros: Tha car was really comfortable and the rent was cheap.
Cons: Convinced me on buying the prepaid tank when I explained I was only using the car to drive to the airport. I only used 1/3 of the tank. So I paid a lot for little gas.

Pros: New car low miles and super fuel mileage.
Cons: For a standard size you'd expect power sets not manual ones.
Pros: Car was available and was adequate for my needs
Cons: Somewhere - either at kayak or at dollar - reservation was entered incorrectly as noon rather than midnight.
Dollar dropped the reservation at 4 hours past the pickup time.
Fortunately they still had a car available, but I ended up paying a higher rate than what was originally reserved.

No cars to be found.
Pros: Reserved a car online on a third-party travel website at a great price.
Cons: Arrived at McGhee-Tyson Airport in Knoxville and found an unmanned rental counter with a line 7-people deep. One of the customers in line said a rental agent had left with a customer and said he'd be back in 15-20 minutes. Another customer called Dollar and was told there were no cars available.
At that point, I also called Dollar and was told that no cars would be available for three days and that I could get on a waiting list. It being nearly 10pm, I asked them to cancel my reservation. Because all of the other rental companies were also out of cars, I ended up paying $40 for a cab and then having to deal with acquiring a car offsite for a good part of the following day. And paying $50 extra to return that car to the airport at the end of the week. That wasn't Dollar, but it would have been avoided if Dollar had come through. Apparently, having a reservation means nothing anymore.

Cons: Only trucks were available (at additional cost) and an additional $7 fee would be added based on the region in which the vehicle would be used.

Pros: Was surprised to learn that they considered a Dodge Ram truck a "full", which wasn't really acceptable, esp. given that I had two cars seats. I was forced to upgrade as they apparently didn't have a sedan on site.

Pros: We upgraded to a new 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup which was nice
Cons: The quoted price of $12/day upgrade was inaccurate. The price of the rental nearly doubled. The vehicle, although new (less than 30 miles) was filthy inside. The windows were terribly dirty on the inside and there were multiple areas on the doors and remainder of the cabin that were filthy. When presented at the counter for return the attendant didn't do anything besides say she would have the booking attendant call us. They never returned the call.
Cons: I had a reservation. They simply stated they had no cars when I got there. No apology, no suggestions, nothing, just "no cars".

Got last car!
Pros: Payless said they never received my booking despite fact that I had a receipt and confirmation number. They were able to find me their last car on Thanksgiving morning so it all worked out. They didn't honor my original booking price so it cost me $25 more. Person at counter was very nice and helpful. Don't know where mistake was made!

Over sold twice
Pros: Lowest price
Cons: Cars not available since they over sold. This happened twice. If you really need a car don't think it will be there since you reserved it. Reserve only if you want to take chance.

A very surreal exeriance
Cons: I arrived in the middle of the day to the Payless counter, where there was no one present. All other companies had one or two employees present and helping customers.
The person that works there returned from a smoke break, and proceeded to tell me that I am two hours late (??). Note that this is a location at an airport, so you would expect people to be delayed. He then told me that they were out of compact cars, but he can "give me a really good deal" for a larger car. I asked them to honor the price and reservation that I made, which is what every company always does. He told me that he can't do that since I was two hours late. I asked for his name, and he told me that "they do not give out names". I noted that employees of real rent-a-car companies wear name tags. Suffice to say, I waked away and rented elsewhere.
In short the whole experience was right out of a Seinfeld episode (take vs. hold a reservation).

Pros: Overall, very pleased with the rental. Best price, nice, clean, reliable car.
Cons: Someone from Budget had to come over and check us out upon arrival since no-one was at Payless counter (there was a sign at counter instructing us to go to Budget counter for assistance). Had to go to counter for check-in receipt (returning) since parking garage check-in apparatus was not working.

Pros: Good price. Friendly and helpful person checking out. But he worked for another rental company.
Cons: I never met with a Payless Car Rental employee. When I returned my car there was nobody there. They had a sign that they would mail me my receipt. I am traveling for work and will need this for reimbursement. I went to the Payless Car Rental counter at the Phoenix location and I was lucky to have them print out my receipt.
Another thing that didn't always bother me but it still was a thing. The car smelled like sweat. Only if I kept the AC on and very cold I wouldn't smell it. But after work when the car was sitting in the sun the smell was strong with that car. Other than that the car was great.

Pros: I booked incorrectly, it was my fault, and when I got there I needed the car and my time constraints were very important. They informed me that the car would probably not be ready for another hour since that's the way I booked it. They, van, said well let's see what else we can do and referred me to another agency that could get me the car right away. I was able to keep the same rate
Cons: I did not like how I booked wrong online. But that was probably my fault :-)

Cancelled Car Reservation on Arrival
Cons: I was informed since my flight got in at 11am instead of 3p that I would be charged approx. $200 for the rental; which is RIDICULOUS!! I cancelled and rented from Thrifty instead for the same original price I was paying Payless.
Pros: Remarkable value for our needs!! Nice car too!!

Pros: Was offered a nice car once we finally got one.
Cons: Service staff when picking up the car was nonchalant about the fact that they didn't have a car available for me at the time of my reservation. They said it could be about thirty minutes until they had more cars and didn't apologize. When we were given the go ahead to proceed to the garage where our car was, the gentleman who was doling out keys carried on a lengthy conversation with another gentleman and then said oh you can just go over to the car and leave. Thanks. We rented from Hertz earlier that week and had a much better experience. The person renting to me put me at ease by doing a walk around, checking to make sure my lights worked, helping me adjust my seat, etc.

I didn't end up renting from Budget.
Cons: After calling a week in advance about my age and car rental and them okaying everything I got to the rental desk and they wouldn't rent to me and had several issues with the attendant there. We ended up going with Hertz and loved it.

Pros: The pickup and drop-off process was very easy at the Knoxville airport. The car was clean and ran very smoothly. We had no problems over a 9-day rental.
Cons: The Malibu has a ridiculously small fuel tank - I will be requesting other full-sized cars for future rentals.

Cons: Didn't receive he car described in the rental agreement.
Pros: Very good service and fixed the problem right away after I asked
Cons: The car smelled like smoke and it looked it was not cleaned at all. I returned back to the airport and they quickly gave me another vehicle. New vehicle was clean but I had to pump air into tires since a few of them had very low pressure. Overall, I was happy with the service but I believe these should be taken are of beforehand.
