first car was fine. somewhat well used but good on gas. after a week or so there was somesort of "fire" under the passenger seat, maybe some wire burned. it was very fast and we saw some smoke and smelled something burning. It was gone about as fast as it happened. Got a replacement car. Lady said it was new 2025 and was an upgrade. Kia telluride. It was nicer and better other than used more gas. Absolutely appalling customer service. Understaffed, 40 minutes to get to counter/agent, and once there, very rude, aggressive and not welcome attempts to upselll everything from unneeded insurance to vehicle type and when not accepted, the agent became surely and clearly 'punished' me with a very small car after I rented a midsize. Staff was rude , very rude , I guess their work culture is bad . Not one time, every time I had to experience. They overcharged me. I returned car earlier , they still overcharged, i requested to fix it , staff said it’s not their job , I will need to call 1-800 number, Interestingly, in similar situation I had with Alamo, Alamo staff fixed it right way .Reviewed 9 Nov 2025

The minute we were give the car we were asked if they had an alternative to which we were abruptly told “no” the car smelled (mix of air freshener and smoke) there were holes in the driver and passenger side floor carpet- not the mats. We had a 3 hour drive the car was unstable and shoot at speeds over 45-50. the next morning the car was replaced when the car arrived and we opened the door- the small of marijuana was horrific. Even the delivery driver acknowledged it: We had to travel the next morning for a family situation so we didn’t have the time (or energy) to go through the exchange process. Every morning we opened all windows ran the car and the A/c to try to reduce the smell for wherever we had to travel. While that helped the smell was so permeated in the car it really did not make a big difference (it helped maybe 25%). Because of this we (and our clothes) and our passengers smelled of Marijuana for 12 days. I could not drive my young niece (13 years old)and her friends to school or sports events because of how she would smell upon arrival. I took my mother to a retirement community smelling of marijuana. While in isolation this might cause a chuckle- in reality it as mortifying and horribly inappropriate. At 56 I am a very seasoned traveler having lived and traveled extensively on 5 continents. This is the single WORST car rental ever.Reviewed 7 Nov 2025

I bought the extra insurance for 50k damage to the vehicle and it didn't matter cause they won't rent a car to someone who doesn't have thier insurance card on them. I'm with a small time insurance company who doesn't have 24 hour access to a digital card and I don't travel with my insurance card... it stays in my car! They already have fleet insurance on all thier vehicles anyway so regardless the car is covered for liability right?So I bought full coverage and had the policy in front of the agent and it didn't matter because of policy?.. stupid. More like profiling! I've never had a problem like this with nextcar or budget or dollar and I work for door dash which has avis perks they tell me. I've always been able to rent a car with my platinum Mastercard anywhere and bought the extra insurance anyways cause it has helped, and I suggest anyone out there to do the same.
