Overview of Air China

Recognized as the national airline of the People’s Republic of China, Air China is one of the largest and most prestigious modern carriers. Carrying more than 100 million passengers each year, the airline reaches 35 countries across 5 continents.

Operating a large fleet of planes, the airline has a combination of Airbus and Boeing models. The most common series flown by Air China is the Boeing 737-800. The largest aircraft is the Boeing 777-300ER, capable of transporting as many as 392 passengers. The distinctive red Phoenix emblem is featured on the tail of the majority of the fleet, with some aircraft incorporating special floral designs. Unique livery has also been incorporated on some aircraft to celebrate particular provinces such as Hubei, Sichuan and Beijing.

The primary hub of the airline is in Beijing, from where they operate the majority of their long-haul international flights. These departures reach as far as Europe, Australia, Africa, South America and North America. Air China has a secondary hub in Shanghai, which is used predominantly for domestic flights across China.

They have operated as a full member of the large Star Alliance since 2007. Partnering with global giants such as United Airlines, Lufthansa, Air India and Air New Zealand, customers can benefit from streamlined transfers, airport lounge access and reduced ticket prices.

Economy and Business Class are offered on all flights, with modern Boeing and Airbus models also providing the option of upgrading to First Class. The premium ticket fare includes a fully reclining bed with a swivel function, sliding privacy boards, headphones, slippers and a welcome flower.
