Top tips for hiring a car in Yorkshire

  • If you are visiting Bradford from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA), you can reach the city in around 30 minutes as it is around eight miles away from the airport, along the A658.  Be aware that on-street parking in Bradford is mainly reserved for residents, however, you can find many cheap parking options in the city car parks with prices starting at around £0.60 per hour, up to around £3.00 for a whole day, leaving you plenty of time to wander around and discover the local history of this industrial town.
  • Be aware of the rush hours in the United Kingdom which fall usually between 08:00 and 10:00 in the morning and again between 17:00 and 19:00 in the evening when commuters can congest the traffic flows.  This is particularly prevalent around the city ring roads, especially around Leeds. Try to avoid the busy periods if returning along the A658 Harrogate route to the airport, as this road is especially busy during rush hours, or alternatively, give yourself plenty of time to return your hire car.
  • Remember to check your fuel policy for your hire vehicle as you may need to refill your tank before returning it.  If you are approaching the airport from the Bradford direction, you can find a Sainsbury’s local petrol station on Apperley Lane, which is situated just off the roundabout on the A658.  If you are approaching from Leeds, you can find many 24-hour stations located on the A6210 ring road. There is another petrol station two miles from the airport in nearby Yeadon, although it would be advisable to check the closing times as it is situated in a small village.
  • Book your rental car in Yorkshire at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price
  • Economy rental cars in Yorkshire are around 48% cheaper than other car types, on average
