Pros: I got a car with tire issues. The tire pressure was low on my way back. Had to add air. After drop off I was told the tire was flat and may be responsible. I informed the manager that I added air on my way back and he almost claimed I drove 100miles back on a flat tire? How could that be physically possible without the rim been damaged or the person who first inspected the car, 5 minutes before I was told the tire was flat, noticed the flat tire. The lady okayed the car and only came back later to mention the issue. I don't understand how a car could be rented out without its health being adequately evaluated.

Cons: Extreme pressure by counter staff to purchase additional insurance, was told they would charge me a 100$ a day rent for any repair that had to be make. Was told my insurance wasnt gonna be good in the state, several lies and threats.. very unprofessional , my guess is they pay their people nearly nothing so they must make up lies at every turn in order to get additional commissions by forcing unneeded ins on customers.. paid 147$ a day for a compact since none of the reputable companies had anything avaialble..

Great alternative to expensive airport rentals
Pros: We took a short Uber ride from the airport and still saved a ton from the rental prices there. We had about a 30-40 minute wait and were charged $2 more than what my kayak total said but id definitely rent from them again. They were very friendly, offered us a huge upgrade from an economy car to a truck and the vehicle was in great shape.

Enterprise rental lots may be different franchises
Pros: Rented at the Enterprise on South 7th in Phoenix. Great Price and service. I would use them again. But this location is not at the airport.
Cons: The Enterprise business site at the Phoenix airport is not the same as the franchise on South 7th. its rentals are much more expensive. Moreover, it provides no assistance unless you rent one of its cars. Indeed, other franchises cannot pick you up at the airport. A shuttle driver told us where to find a cab, a cab that took us to the wrong Enterprise car lot. Although the cabby got it wrong, the staff and facility on South 7th earned a 10 out of 10 on my scale.

Pros: On Kayak we reserved a car through Enterprise and upon our arrival at Skye Harbor airport we took the shuttle to the car rental pick-up location. We got through the initial questions and the amount was $300 more than was quoted online. The associate called a manager over and it was determined I had reserved the car through a remote location, not the airport location. The manager very nicely honored the price.

Cons: I have rented with Payless in the past. I had some charges that I wasn't aware of on a previous rental. I called and it wasn't really clear why. This time I made a reservation online for a SUV. It was the best price through Kayakk. I got to the checkout around 11:20. My rental wasn't until 12. The attendant notified me that the rental would not be an SUV because there was nothing ready. Then after he processed my info (and having rented with them and using same card, none my info was found. I was previously told that there was a frequent user program,) he said that I would be charged a whole extra day if I rented now because I was 40 minutes early. I wasn't going to pay that just for 40 minutes. So I told him I'll wait. While I was waiting he came up to me and referred me to another company. I ended up waiting it out and when I processed everything in the end he didn't give me an SUV, he gave me a small compact. I was really frustrated. I mentioned it to the woman at the desk and she said I would have to go back upstairs and talk to the man who processed my transaction. I had meetings to go to and I didn't want to argue. Then when I dropped it off. There was no attendants available. I had to wait there for like 10 minutes until someone showed up and checked me out.

Cons: I called when I got to town to find out the location or if they pick you up and they said they couldn't find any reservation for me, what's worse is they said they had no cars available, I was like, yes you do because I have a reservation. We had to trek back to the airport 30 minutes away, wait in line for another rental place to get a car for the weekend and ending up spending more money than we budgeted.

Rent a car
Pros: They did not have my Nissan Versa so they gave me a convertible Mustang instead which was cool. It was a V6 but it had plenty of power. One tank of gas got me all the way to LA from Phoenix. The car was fun to drive and the convertible was awesome
Cons: The only thing I did not like was the drop-off was confusing. You have to drop off in the Hilton garage on the 6th floor and it is hard to see the Hertz Rent-a-Car signs.

Nice SUV - Terrible Customer Service and Wait Time
Pros: The SUV was clean and comfortable. It had plenty of room for the 4 of us and all of our luggage.
Cons: The customer service at the PHX airport was terrible. Went to pick up the car and the pickup location had 5 kiosks (3 were broken) and 1 "in person" employee. We used the Kiosk to pick up the car which entails a video phone chat where the volume is too low to adequately here the customer service agent - he charged us $170 for an upgrade that we did not want. Then we had to stand in line again and wait for the 1 "live" person to be available to dispute the charges. 40 minutes later we find that our auto class that we reserved is sold out - the employee ended up refunding the $170 charge but then gave us a free upgrade so we still ended up with the SUV but just was not charged for their mistake of selling out of the original auto class This is what the employee at the Kiosk should have done instead of "tricking" us into paying for the upgrade. Sad thing is that an elderly couple who was ahead of us in line and talking to the "live" person also was overcharged but didn't realize it until they went to get the actual car - I hope they went back to dispute it. Awful, unethical practices by Hertz.

Cons: Wait time to pick up car took over 1/2 hour. Tire pressure was too low and had to stop to add air when got into areas with lower temperatures than Phoenix, AZ.
Pros: Why rent a normal, boring, dinky little thing when for just a bit more you can drive a Dodge Challenger? I couldn't think of even a bad reason so we took the Challenger and we greatly enjoyed it. A great decision.
Cons: Our weekend wedding was so busy we had little time to actually drive the Challenger as much as I wanted to. Major bummer!

Pros: I liked the car and quick transactions. The employees were succinct and offered helpful options that ultimately made our experience positive. I'll be coming back.
Cons: I purchased third party insurance and was told at the desk that it may not be enough in case of an accident, which was annoying but realized it was a selling tactic as opposed to a hidden fee. Also, we were advised to upgrade to a mid-size sedan over our compact car, which proved beneficial. However, we were unable to keep the $7/day promotion for all compact and sedan cars the day I made the reservation.

Cons: Very poor service to start with. They offered me an upgrade for a price and then the charges are much higher on my credit card. Also their system says I was late in returning their car by 2 hours which is not true and I was charged an extra day for that as well. I am still in the process of resolving this issue with the customer care.
I used this company since they offered cheaper pricing thru kayak. I will not rent a car from this company again.

Pros: Overall a great experience for the money, only downside was that initially EZ was difficult to find at thr rental car center: it does not have a separate counter, and there are no signs posted outside indicating it's with Advantage. Other than that, thumbs up!

Check out the car before you buy the extra insurance.
Pros: The car was a Prius and ran well. They gave me my license back quickly when I returned the car. Drop off was easy and quick.
Cons: 1) The line was not very long, but it was so slow (and only 2 people working) that it took nearly an hour to pick up the car. (2) Another couple was trying to drop off their car and complained that they were being charged for a small ding on the windshield which may have been there when they rented. (3) They threatened to charge "thousands of dollars" if anything happened and I didn't buy extra insurance to cover loss of car value if the car was hit. I bought it. (4) The car was filthy dirty. Just driving a few hours made my hand grey where it touched the steering wheel. (5) The car had been in multiple accidents and would not have lost any value had something happened. (5) The windshield had dings that could not be seen until driving into the brilliant Phoenix sunshine. (6) They did not give my my license back and I didn't notice until the next day. They did give me my credit card and rental agreement. By the time I paid for the extra insurance ($304 for 4 days), it would have been cheaper to rent from a better company.

Pros: The car was just fine. It had some bumper stickers on the back of the car that had been halfheartedly peeled off, but other than that it was satisfactory.
Cons: I did not have a very good experience when picking up my car at the Phoenix airport. The associate assisting me tried to get me to sign off on a charge that was *significantly* more than what Kayak had estimated without any explanation. When I questioned why there was a difference, I was given an unsatisfactory answer.
Additionally, the associate tried to convince me that I was required to purchase extra insurance, and our exchange was full of annoying upsales that made the car rental experience unpleasant.
I will probably avoid renting from Dollar in the future because of my disappointing experience with customer service and my distrust for their pricing structure.

Wish I could of had car upon arrival
Pros: My rental with dollar did not follow me from San Antonio Texas to Phoenix! When I made it through the 45 minute line with 2 suitcases and wearing a back brace and walking shoe I was told my reservations was not completed when I dropped my car off at San Antonio location! I was stuck in airport 5 hours until I could secure ride to sun city, then had to come in next day to get a car! That was a nightmare! The car and staff were great, other than the Phoenix counter staff upon my arrival, all was pleasant and I believe I will be a return customer.

Extra Charges in AZ without Explanation
Pros: The return in Palm Springs was seamless and the staff was very helpful.
Cons: I was charged for an extra driver by the clerk in AZ who did not review the additional charge with me. It was only after I was in the car that I noticed she has given me 2 receipts, one for the amount I had agreed to online and another receipt for a higher amount that had been placed under the original. This seems to be unfair, sloppy business practice. I'm from CA where charging for an additional driver is illegal and did not realize there would be the extra charge, especially since the other driver is my spouse. The young man in AZ couldn't even tell me if AZ allowed charging for extra driver who are spouses. Had I been advised of a charge I never would have added an extra driver. Very unhappy about this.
The people at budget were overwhelmed with pickups
Pros: The car they finally assigned was a ford fusion hybrid that was wonderful.
Cons: Twice we were assigned the same car as another couple leading to arguments on the lot.

Headlights not working

Cons: I rented a car to drive to drive a few hours for a wedding. It was late when the wedding ended but I needed to drive back. What a time to learn the headlights didn't work. Only the brights worked. It was a pretty scary drive home bc the road I was driving on didn't have street lights so I had to balance driving in the dark vs blinding others on the road. When I returned the car I mentioned this and they said "we meant to take this car out of commission due to mileage" but had not yet done so and took five dollars off my bill. To me, an apology alone would have been better than five dollars off in exchange for the dangerous situation I was put in. From this experience, I learned to check the lights before leaving any rental place and not to rent from budget.

Pros: I received a car that works with GPS although the GPS wasn't that great
Cons: They were inflexible with changes: I signed up for a full sized car because I had 5 adults. What I received was a car classified by the maker as a midsized car. We tried it out but knew it was going to be uncomfortable to drive for three hours straight. We came back to the dealership and they were going to let us upgrade to a van only the van was going to cost an additional $500 for the remaining 5 days. They are just trying to get you in a tight spot and then take advantage of you.

Pros: we rented through Costco, easy to reserve, got into Phoenix at midnight. got through the airport, the shuttle to the car rental facility. car reserved for us was fine, using costco membership we were able to get an upgrade car model. sky terminal carousel we really pain-free - all the car rental shops in one location - returning car back was no problem either, just drive into the facility, talk a few minutes with the check in representative, give her the keys and we were off to the shuttle to the airport.

Raked over the coals for returning in a different
Pros: The mini van was perfect for our family, clean and ready to go.
Cons: When we arrived we had to wait over an hour until they could give us a car as they said they didn't have one ready. Rep claimed the people who had the car didn't return it on time. Wow is this the only car you have and there were several people ahead of us and behind us who pre-booked rental but they didnt' have enough cars. I did see 2 people go to the rental spot beside avis and were able to get a car right away so they left avis. Also very expensive to rent a car and return in a different location, I get this to a degree but really, this seems like something that would be commonly done on vacation. While avis was the cheapest on the Kayak there is of course always so many add-ons and extra fees/taxes that it really comes out so much more than you get quoted up front. Common for all car rental companies.

Just clean the windshield please!
Pros: Nice Ford Expedition with all the bells and whistles.
Cons: Vehicle did not feel clean. Windshield was filthy.

Wait time terrible
Cons: Waked 2 hours and 11 minutes to get car. 1 hour and 40 minutes in line plus half hour on paperwork. Rental was over 30 days required multiple LEASE agreements that agent did not know how to do

Mazda 3 Not for Five
Pros: The pickup and drop off were very easy - I like the ability to pick up at a location other than the airport (which has very high taxes) while still being able to drop off at airport for the convenience.
Cons: When I rented the car online it said the model would accommodate 5 adults and 3 suitcases - it did not...our option was then to upgrade to a larger car for a larger price. We decided to stay with the Mazda 3 as we weren't going to be using the car that much. Overall the experience left me feeling that I had been misguided on the size of the vehicle and I don't appreciate getting the "up sell" while on vacation.
