Signage at the airport pointing to rental car return ramp is rather wonky. After you leave your rental, an easy 10 minute covered walk to the terminal.
Verified travelerDec 2024
Book in advance way in advance to save money
Verified travelerAug 2024
Be aware that the Fox Car Rental office closes at 9 pm, and does not offer an after hours pickup option. These are impractical hours for an airport.
Verified travelerNov 2023
As long as you know the basic road rules and driving etiquette in LA, you are set! Always drive on the defensive too.
Verified travelerOct 2023
It is a very convenient airport, but it is also small, so car inventory is low. As a third-party renter, you might get “what’s left” on the lot. Thanks!
Verified travelerAug 2023
No problems, nice car, great communication, would do again
Verified travelerJun 2023
Do it you won’t regret
AndrewAug 2023
Provide for an extra 30-60 minutes to complete the rental process and get out of the lot. There seem to be numerous places where you can get hung up that can delay you.
Verified travelerJun 2023
As it's an airport pickup, build in extra time to wait for your rental.

KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Burbank

  • No trip to Burbank would be complete without renting a car. There simply is no better way to see the sights in Burbank and Los Angeles than in the comfort of your own vehicle. Say you want to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for instance. You could take public transport and spend 50 minutes hopping on and off buses and the metro, or you could drive and be there in 30 minutes from Central Burbank.
  • Excited to begin your trip in Burbank? If step one of your trip is to pick up your rental car and your flight lands at Hollywood Burbank Airport, then you can find the rental car desks at the Regional Intermodal Transportation Center just outside and across the parking lot from the airport.
  • Pedestrians jaywalking is very common in Burbank so drivers should keep their eyes open at all times for any potential street-crossers. It is also important to note that drivers are required to yield to pedestrians in California, and you actually risk being ticketed if you don’t yield to a pedestrian crossing the street.
  • Burbank as a part of Los Angeles experiences its fair share of rush hour traffic. In general, drivers can expect rush hour to start as early as 6:00 a.m. and to last until 10:00 a.m. during the week. In the afternoon the traffic starts up again at around 3:00 p.m. and begins to wind down by around 7:00 p.m. I-405 is often one of the worst hit roads during rush hour, as it goes by Burbank, and should be avoided if possible during peak hours of traffic.
  • Small rental cars in Burbank are around 33% cheaper than other car types, on average

  • Where are the best places to park in Burbank?

Streetside parking and parking garages are readily available throughout Burbank, so drivers should have no issue finding parking during their time in the city. This is the third Budget vehicle I've rented that is dirty. It's getting ridiculous. Every surface is dirty. Food, crumbs, spills, a messy windshield. One or two cars before this there was still auction paint on the window.

They had trouble finding the right car for me. At first they gave me a very large SUV that I didn't want. I was going to take it anyway, but the paperwork was wrong, so the final gate guard would not let me drive away. Then a man from Avis fixed the rental and gave me a good intermediate SUV (Mazda CX-5) that worked out great.

Likes: type of vehicle we were given when our class of vehicle was not available. Drop off in Phoenix was very nice. Dislike: For pick up the shuttle we to from LAX to Avis was close to 45 mins to go 2 miles. Our vehicle was not available and were offered a smaller car which we declined. We had to wait 30 mins for the correct car to be delivered. We had to change from Burbank to LAX and were charged an additional $120. Not sure why.

Rented VW Jetta. Got Nissan Altima. I have never driven an Altima before. It has the worst windshield/defrost situation I’ve ever seen. Impossible to keep windows from fogging. Almost got me killed in the hills Thursday and Friday night. Tried it with outside air, circulating air, AC on, heat on, window down. It has to be a flawed design with the windshield. Or the car has a leak somewhere (heater core?). Terrifying driving experience. Surprised there hasn’t been a recall on these things.

Your web site told me that I would be getting a Jeep Compass or similar car from Hertz for a certain price. When I got to Burbank, they Hertz employees had not seen a Jeep Compass come through in months and offered me a Kia--which I could have rented from multiple other car companies for much less than what Hertz was charging me. Super frustrating that I picked Hertz because of their offer, which was totally inaccurate. I won't be using them again:

Fox charged me an extra $ 150.00 with the promise that it would be returned when I returned the car. The car was returned in a better condition than when I picked it up and with a full tank of gas. The still haven't returned the $ 150.00. The car had many scratches on the paint and windows were not clean. The person who was at the rental counter was extremely difficult to understand. I have rented many, many cars over the years and I have never had worse service.

Ridiculous! Be aware that this office at the Burbank Airport closes at 9 pm - and offers no option for an after hours pickup. Said if turned back late would charge a dollar per minute. She showed no empathy. No grace period? She was the worst. You need to train your customer service. We didn’t drive off lot til 225 and it showed 1155a. Not a good ending experience.

The rental staff- on pick-up and return- could not have been nicer. But, I reserved a small-sized SUV and was given a Kia Forte with 46,000 miles that had been smoked in heavily during a prior rental. I literally drove with the sunroof open the entire time I had the car to clear the air. I wouldn’t have mentioned this here if the couple in front of me on pick-up night- clearly walk-up customers- were given a new model red mini SUV, then I was told “You can take the small car over there or wait for a long time.” Bigger-picture, it is hard for me to understand how your company brings so much business to these rental car companies, yet we are treated as second-class renters. Thanks!

I was lent a brand new car for a really GREAT PRICE! Not to mention that the rental was for a 44-day booking. The car was really clean (inside and out) when I got it. The Dollar staff at the Burbank Airport was friendly, and the process of picking it up and dropping it off was very efficient.

I actually had to cancel due to the situation. Cancelation was ~41 hours before the rental time, but was charged most of the pre-payment.

I DID NOT GET A CAR. !! At least not from National. They told me they had no record of my payment online on their end. I paid ahead with klarna. I will say, there was a manager, FERNANDO, who ran around and called other places to find me a car. I had to ride share to a second location ( different company ( enterprise). I had to rent all over, so basically double paid. I don’t see any refund from klarna as of yet. I have previously rented with kayak and no problem. Just gave the credit card $300 dep. Big headache. No more National. They just kept saying don’t use 3rd party companies. I use Expedia regularly with no problem and have used kayak as well. It makes no sense. Now I need to get the charge off of my klarna account!!!
