Pros: It was easy, the employees were really nice & the shuttle service was convienent & quick. We will definitely use them again. The price we were quoted online was the price we paid. It was great to not see an increase in the cost upon returning the car.

Cons: That the car was returned at 6:14 and I was charged for an extra hour. When at pick up the person giving us the car said return the car around 6pm. I guess I took that to mean that close to 6pm. If I was going to be charged more if it was after 6 pm then he should of said- hey car back by 6pm or we will charge you for an hourly rate.

Pros: The car was clean and did run... and that's about as far as I can go with positives.
Cons: The pick up location is NOT at the airport. They do advertise this information, but they have a booth at the airport, where you call a number and a van comes to shuttle you to the car rental spot. When we called the number, they didn't tell us this.. they said they would be there in five minutes. No mention of the van. No mention of moving locations. Maybe this was my fault, or maybe they could have mentioned something like "great! We will send a van to pick you up in the next few minutes. Please look for the white shuttle with the words "Payless" on the side!" Or maybe that's expecting too much. I'm not a customer service expert.
We all show up to the rental area and there is only one guy working the counter. So it takes longer than it needs to. He casually mentions that there's a multi hundred dollar deposit that comes with all rentals. Sure. Maybe that was in the fine print. I guess I missed it. But whatever. All was well.
We drive the car off the lot. All is good. Until the next day, when the check engine light comes on and the oil light as well. I called the number they gave me and offered me a few options. None of which accommodated the concept that I was in a wedding all weekend and i needed to use the car in a city 100 miles from the pick up location. Sure, I COULD drive all the way back and get a new car. Sure. I COULD drop the car off to get maintenance done, with the assurance you'd reimburse me. But the idea here is that i paid for a service. You did not hold up your end of the deal. And somehow I am penalized for the inconvenience.
The final conclusion was that as long as the vehicle "sounds okay" then I'm okay to drive it to my hearts content. My husband checked the oil level which was drastically low and the oil was caked entirely on the dipstick. The cars are clearly, poorly maintained, and when I am home in the future, I will never ever ever rent from them. Time with family is more valuable than saving a few bucks.
No apology. No sort of compensation. Just a bill and a "see you later" at the end of it all. Too bad.

Cons: I hate the bate and switch. YOUR website said chose "special rate" and get a minimum 5 people/2 bags car. I chose that. At the Dollar counter only one vehicle available Chev Spark 4P/1B, but "I could upgrade for an additional 243.00". I emailed you, only to be told I didn't understand what the "Special" was. You're correct, the website doesn't say economy, compact, etc., but it DOES say 5P/2B.

Great value - but watch the invoicing
Pros: I got an amazing rate and was upgraded to a luxury car! The only bummer, when I got to the checkout line, I saw I was being invoiced for full price of the upgrade. Luckily I still had the confirmation and customer service honored the invoice.
Cons: There was a heavy sales pitch to take car insurance.

Pros: When no one showed up at the Dollar rental counter, eventually a woman named Precious (and believe me she is!) at the Hertz counter helped me. Apparently Dollar is owned by Hertz, the difference being that Hertz employees belong to the union and Dollar employees do not. Precious even upgraded my rental car to help compensate for the problem.
Cons: I booked my car for pick-up at 6 a.m. and the Dollar counter was scheduled to open at 6, yet when I arrived at 6 a.m. no one was there! I could not pick up the car because there was no agent at the counter. I waited for 45 minutes and still no one. I had a meeting scheduled and a long drive ahead of me. This is unacceptable!

Not what we reserved.
Cons: We reserved a car that was supposed to hold 5 people. There were only 4 of us, but the car was a Chevy Spark. It was not large enough for 4 adults and we had no choice but to upgrade. The upgrade, along with hidden fees was almost $100 more than we were expecting. I will not rent a car through Kayak.

Cons: The computer system went down shortly before we picked up our car. This caused a 45 minute delay, in part because the manager could not unlock the cabinet with paper contracts.
Cons: I'm unsure about the final charges. They may be spot on but this survey comes early and I haven't had a chance to validate. They may be accurate--but I'm uncertain.

Worst car rental experience ever
Pros: Car was decent, eventually paid less than expected due to earlier return, helpful security guard at the exit from rental facility (unlike Hertz employees).
Cons: Kayak booking was in the system, but somehow Hertz wanted to charge me 2x more than Kayak price. Employees at Hertz Gold Plus Rewards checkin were unpleasant and incredibly incompetent, to the point of not being able to spell correctly "Road" in my address. Hertz wanted to charge 9.99USD / gallon when I forgot to refuel - so had to return to a nearby gas station where petrol costs 2USD/gallon.

Good Car, Bad Company
Pros: Car was very clean; no issues with the car itself. Drop-off was easy, but didn't allow the opportunity to have any questions answered.
Cons: I ended up being charged almost double what I was quoted, even after turning in my car a day earlier than I was originally scheduled, and I still have no idea why. I wasn't able to ask any questions at drop-off, and when picking up the car they wouldn't let me talk to someone in-person, but rather through a video chat with someone off-site which was a bit awkward, at times difficult to understand, and didn't allow me to ask all the questions I had.

Cons: I could not get into the first car that was assigned to me, which cost 15 extra minutes waiting in line and getting a new car. Also, the bill did not seem to line up with what I was expecting. The number was lower, so I probably am not concerned, but it was not explained to me so I will need to check and make sure there wasn't a glitch, such as the initial charge remaining and the lower charge at the end of the rental being added in addition. An explanation of the cost would have helped.

Cons: The gentleman at the counter told me my car choices, none of which were stated on the original buy in. They were the or equal... Since I would be driving my elderly parents around I was talked into "upgrading" for another $70.00. I went to the lot and it was still a small puddle jumper. Upgrade might mean upgrade to power windows. In the end with all the fees and taxes it was way more than stated. I want to know the out the door price please!

Cons: Flight delayed - needed my car overnight after delay. Thrifty was going to charge me over $300 to keep it overnight. They claimed they couldn't do any better. Ended up being a huge inconvenience to take it back before I was ready.

SUV without 4-wheel drive in MN in January?!?!
Cons: I reserved a small SUV because I was going to be traveling in upstate Minnesota in January. Imagine my surprised when I checked in to find that the vehicle wasn't 4-wheel drive ...and, that to get 4-wheel drive, I would have to pay to upgrade to a full-size SUV. I wasn't pleased!

Cons: The car smelled heavily of smoke and the person at the counter was very high pressure, trying to upgrade me to a bigger car, despite my insistence that I didn't need one. They were also very high pressure in trying to sell me the extra insurance, which was a bit annoying.

No cruise control?!
Pros: It was convienient to pickup the vehicle at the airport as the terminal I few into is smaller than the main one.
Cons: That the car didn't have cruise control & they tried to charge me for gas when I said I would fill it up. They asked me to bring a receipt & then it wasn't even used when I had to go to the counter to remove the gas charge.

Car Rental Made for Wrong Terminal
Pros: Car was very comfortable. Very clean. Desk agents were very friendly and helpful. Despite car pick up being assigned to the wrong terminal, the desk agent did accommodate very nicely.
Cons: The fact that the car reservation pick up location was assigned to the wrong terminal despite providing the flight information ahead of time.

Overcharge because of a known "glitch" in the syst
Cons: When I brought my car back they tried to charge me an extra 18.25 saying that it's a "glitch" in the system. The additional was a fuel surcharge even though I said I would bring it back full and I did including showing the attendant my has receipt. I wonder how many people don't notice or have the time (an extra 15 min) to deal with it.

Then when dropped I realized I left my sunglasses in the console and when I called just a few hours later they where gone. Obviously who ever cleans them needed my $200 sunglasses more than me. We won't use them or kayak again. This was a horrible experience.

Supremely disappointed with booking service and va

Cons: Highly inconvenient.
I thought I booked the car at enterprise MSP airport only to find upon arrival that my car was at a Plymouth Enterprise location. I couldn't book another car or transfer the rental to MSP airport because the enterprise airport and off airport systems don't "talk" to each other. No other rentals were available. Had to take an $80 cab ride to the location to get my rental car. On return, dropped off at the airport for convenience which will likely incur at least $75 charge. Will pay at least $155 more than expected. Who knows what other fee they will try to tack on. Will never book a rental car through here again or with enterprise!
Pros: Nice, new chevy SUV, very clean and comfortable.
Cons: I suggest Avis review their check-in procedure which was painfully slow with many things to be entered, coworkers to be consulted and two phone calls in the middle of it. Also took 20 minutes to actually produce the car after rental procedure itself. As long as they have been doing this, I'd think things would be more streamlined.

Cons: I rented in in late Minneapolis and had a long drive. There wasn't any window washing fluid, which made visibility difficult. This is something that should be checked in the winter for every car.

Cons: The cost of the car ended up being much more expensive, insurance was much more expensive. Customer service was bad. Car wasn't in good repair, dents and scratches, crack in the windshield. No accountability on Avis' side, a writing pad to mark issues was basically thrown at us. Won't be renting with Avis EVER again. Was extremely disappointed to say the least.
