Pick up was delayed
Pros: The vehicle was clean and was the type of car ordered.
I wasn't happy that there was only 1/4 tank of gas on the car wed hen I picked it up. Also, I ordered online so it woukd be quicker when I arrived. Instead, I was the last person helped and this in the lobby had no prearrangement. I understood gathering my license and having me sign. Also, the insurance had purchased online, they didn'the know anything about it. The encouraged their insurance.

Pros: The people were quite friendly and eager to please. They had some technical issues with computer not printing out an invoice, but another representative jumped in to get my transaction finalized. He called me by name and thanked me for my patience. Good customer service.
Cons: I had to tell them the mileage and showed them a picture of the gas tank being filled up. I don't normally fly anywhere (hence the rental car) but returned it at the airport. Finding where to turn it in was a little unclear and I had to stand in line with people renting out a car. Should have just been able to drop off and go without waiting.

Drop off is a huge pain/employees are deadbeats.
Pros: basically, you drop off your car and have to haul all your stuff to the baggage claim.
Cons: there was an employee WATCHING me struggle under the weight of far too many bags and he didn't lift a finger. also, there was a luggage cart, but the employees were just being lazy lounging inside. i was the only customer and they couldn't be bothered to help? shameful.

Manager was helpful, others can use some training
Pros: Car was clean and nice. Drove well and met our need abundantly.
During our trip it became clear that a different drop off point of about 7 miles (in an already one way trip) would make a huge difference, saving us much time and expense and managers at both ends were willing to work with us.
Cons: An employee at the originating store couldn't have been more uninterested in helping with our situation, totally apathetic. It sounded like she was maybe even doing her nails as she spoke to us, meanwhile we are driving on an interstate towards our destinations on unfamiliar roads, at night, after 10 hours of driving that day. Thankfully her supervisor, Andrew came to our aid from her lack of concern.

Awful smoke smell!
Pros: Good value for a last minute rental due to flight complications.
Cons: Car smelled very strongly of smoke and I had to ride an hour with the windows down just to make it tolerable. It was evident they'd tried to mask over the smell with air freshener, but it didn't help.
Pros: The price, newer vehicle. Loved the location. Very convenient for us.
Cons: That I couldn't rent more days with the same rate.

Cons: We had a confirmation in Fort Wayne IN for a 9:30 p.m. arrival. Plane was late, arrived at approximately 10:00. Got to desk and desk person had went home at 10:00 even though he had a customer coming. So no car!
Thanks to Enterprise, they were able to accommodate us. Will go there next time.

Pros: Good price and pick of three vehicles. It worked out great for us. Just drop off the keys and go.
Cons: Vehicle didn't have speed control. Oil should have been changed months ago!

Dollar Rental Good / Kayak Bad
Pros: Dollar Rental was good..accommodating and pleasant. They upgraded me for free.
Cons: Kayak said I would have a car that seats 5 adults and could carry 2+ bags. The car I rented was an economy and could only fit 2 adults and 1 bag. I will rent at Dollar. I will not use Kayak.

I paid and put a deposit down for the rental.
Cons: When I got there they refused to let me take the car I rented... I drove an hour and half to pick it up twice and then when I asked them to refund me they said they couldn't do that... VERY UNHAPPY! Will never use their service again. Still out the money I paid for the rental.

Cons: I made my reservation through Kyak and prepaid for the rental. When I returned the car I was told that Dollar had no record of the prepayment, and I was billed a second time. DOUBLE BILLING!

Overall a good deal
Pros: Easy to get to at the Fort Wayne location.
Cons: The 'fees' on top of the rental price...the fees were more than the rental (and I did not get extra coverage).

THe customer service was a mess
Pros: The car was nice and in great condition. Ran like a dream.
Cons: Person wasn't there when it was time to open. Had a car reserved for 8a.m and didn't get it until almost 9,an hour later, because they didn't have any cars ready, the person didn't show up on time, etc. Then when returning, it took a half an hour because they had no idea what they were doing. This isn't the first time the personnel there were a mess.
Pros: My plane was very late in coming and the attendant was there, even at 11pm.
Cons: The car had tape marks to all doors. The attendant was called the next morning and noted those defects.

Cons: I arrived to retrieve my rental. I gave the customer service rep my reservation and a copy of my insurance cards. I was then told he needed a $200 deposit on the car. I offered the very same card I purchased the rental with. He would not accept it. I told him I could give him $200 cash if that was better. He wouldn't accept that either. I brought my mother's card in, who was sitting in her car, and he wouldn't accept that either. As I should have been leaving town, I was trying to find another rental on a Friday morning for the weekend. Kayak had no problem taking the money from my account immediately. Hertz had no problem taking the money from Kayak. HOWEVER, NO ONE wanted to help me get the rental I already paid for, refund my money, or pick up the phone. I am 40 years old with a clean driving record, current insurance, and the required $200, there is no reason I shouldn't have been able to get the rental. I got to my destination with 10 minutes to spare as opposed to the hour and a half I had planned. This whole situation was poorly handled and customer service is a loss on both these companies.

Pros: Service was great and picking up and doing of the car was a smooth experience. The car was clean and exactly what I needed for my trip. I would certainly rent a car from Hertz again.

Pros: Nothing worst experience ever!
Cons: Never got the car. Overbooked and misleading. Conditions were not as specified! Customer service was horrible. Need to restart the whole office! Will never use again! First time trying kayak and hertz. Usually use enterprise directly with no problems. Made us start late on our vacation and ended up having to pay double on a late notice reservation with another company! I will tell everyone about how horrible you both are!!!

Ordered a full-size, but ended up with a midsize
Pros: The car was clean and I liked that I could park my own vehicle there while I rented the car
Cons: I had reserved a full-size car but they gave me a Nissan Altima. Since I drive a truck, all cars look small to me, so at first I thought maybe I was just imagining how small it was. But it truly was a midsize car. Just a 4 cylinder engine as well. It ended up working out, but I would like to get what I pay for since I paid extra for a full-size.

Pros: Pick up was easy and drop off after hours convenient. Courteous employees.
Cons: Employees were pushy to get extras - fuel, insurance (3 levels). Car was clean on outside, but had crumbs under seats and in cupholders. The seats were standard and not comfortable to ride on, but there was a great deal on the van.

Cons: There was nothing on the website about not accepting a debit card without a return flight itinerary. I ended up not using Alamo, because they also racked up the charges to four times what I had been told originally too. Please make your costs and rules more clear ahead of time.

Cons: I have rented a car with my bank credit/debit card for the last 3 years...Unbeknownst to me they now require a major credit card which I didn't find out until I was at the counter. If this was disclosed prior I could have made other arrangements. Instead I was totally left on the day we were leaving without a car. I will never use Thrifty

Pros: The car was great on gas.
Cons: The employees were rude, windows were dirty on the inside of the car and the window wipers were bad. Mind you we drove through the mountains in the rain. Had to pull over because we couldn't see. And once I told the associate at drop off, I was blatantly ignored. Never will go there again.
