It is definitely tricky driving in PV. Left hand turns are made from the far right lane. Your best bet is to follow other cars until you get the hang of it. Also be sure to stop for flashing green lights that quickly turn yellow, then red. The police are very present and looking for tourists to make mistakes. Pay attention to speed limit signs as they change frequently.

They are crooks! They pretended to find a new 1" scratch on a hidden part of the awning over the back window and we are still fighting with them to get my $700 deposit back. And, at checkout - we were forced to listen to a condominium presentation begging us to go to a 90 minute showing way out of the way. When trying to resolve the "scratch" issue - the employees were rude, short, and did not listen. I truly feel they were taking advantage of the "gringos".

My vehicle was crashed and was not made aware. I saw it before leaving the location. They promised to change it but never did and said no vehicles were available. They did not call me back I had to call them back on three occasions. They offered me no discounted price. They knew I needed that bigger vehicle and said they had no other to give me.

i was required to pay $315.00 Mexican Pesos per day for mandatory insurance when in fact my credit card provides full accidental coverage. When i insisted my credit card provided full insurance covereage, they still refused to rent the car without this so called "mandatory" insurance. this is a total rip off. I will not rent from Alamo in Mexico again unless you reverse this ridiculous robbery.

Plane arrived late, there was no one at the Alamo counter in the airport despite still being within hours of operation. I was told they close at any time if they no longer have cars to rent, but then my reservation was not honored. Will never rent from Alamo again, poor customer service in puerto Vallarta.

Terrible staff. Location is NOT in airport, it’s miles away. Made us wait for 20 minutes for pick up. Once there they did not let me deny insurances although I am insured by Amex. The forced insurances were more expensive than the car rental itself. I tried talking to the manager but he was equal or worst than the employees. When we checked the car for damages I tried to do a video but the employee would not acknowledge the date, name or name of the company. Left my Amex cc open for a couple thousand dollars only to fin out one day later that “someone” tried to use my card for internet purchases upwards of $3,000 usd. TERRIBLE COMPANY

Once we got the vehicle we wanted it served it’s purpose

We were completely scammed from the minute that we walked into the Hertz office in Mexico. They took advantage of us and it was very sad. Even though our taxes and fees were including the rental price they forced additional taxes and fees which we knew was incorrect. They forced us to get insurance when we wanted to waive it and we had already confirmed that we had insurance with both our auto company and through our credit card before hand. We were also forced to pay for the full tank of gasoline when we have only usedLess than half. The entire experience was very unfortunate and wrong. They also wouldn’t give us the keys to our vehicle until we sat through a seminar on excursions and “” discounts because we got a car rental. We should not have been forced to do that.

The car was not in the best condition, engine light on and multiple areas with damage. No handles on the boot and filling cap release. Took almost an hour to get the car once I got to the rental shop. Was charged additional insurance even though I have worldwide cover and then an extortionate warranty of 1333 dollars which because I was using a debit card I had to pay an additional non refindable 66 dollars. 2 bars of fuel on the gauge. A rental that started at 57dollars ended up costing over 200. The hidden fees are a joke and I will not be in a hurry to rent a car from this company ever again

When I picked up the car I had an unexpected $430.00 mandatory insurance premium charged. I bought insurance though KAYAK and was charged the extra at the airport. Staff did were not very interested in inspecting the car when I picked it but went over it with a fine tooth comb when I dropped it off. They were especially interested in the under carriage as the speed bumps are very high in some places and the under carriage will drag going into their parking lot. Not a very welcoming experience and I felt like they were trying to not to reimburse the 35,000 past deposit that they charged on to of the extra insurance. Never have been treated that way in any country renting a car and I for years I rented weekly.

Prices were quoted in CAD and were asked in USD at a way worse rate than what I anticipated, and with no internet on the spot to verify and show my reservation I had no choice but to accept and go with whatever they were saying. The car was in rough shape and not particularly clean, with the radio inoperative and bits ands broken inside, and at drop off they charged me 190$ for a cleaning fee because there were some dog hair on the floor in the back. Overall when I should have paid 425$ Cad I ended un paying over 1100$ cad. I should have stuck with the competitor’s rental, this was way overpriced and will definitely not recommend to anyone.

Standard SUV

We arrived at the airport and they didn’t have any cars. Said because we booked through a third party it wasn’t guaranteed.

They did not have a car for me. I had to walk to another place to find a car. Terrible to book a car and not have one for them.
