Cons: The upsell was not tactful at all. When the employee pressured me to buy the optional insurance, I kept asking "how much is the insurance" and she would only tell me the total (not the additional cost I was incurring). I asked repeatedly and she either didn't comprehend the question or chose to ignore it. Then she told me I could elect to return the tank empty and Hertsz would just charge me for whatever it cost to refuel. But in fact I was charged for a full tank of gas right then and there. I could have saved myself at least $10 by just refueling myself before I returned. Lame.

Pros: Great customer service representatives, car availability and ability to drop off at another location
Cons: Car had smoke odor, which gave me a serious headache....had to drive with windows down in order to alleviate some of the smell during my trip.

Won't be using Hertz again
Pros: New car
Cons: The rental counter was empty when I arrived to pick up my car. The agent showed up 10 minutes uses late, spent another 10 minutes behind closed doors and when she finally came out to the counter, didn't even acknowledge me until she had spent another 10 minutes uses going through keys and paperwork. I was supposed to get my rental at 6, the agent didn't begin helping me until 6:30, I was the only person at the counter and has to wait 30 minutes to be helped because the agent was so late. Every time I tried calling customer service no one could help me they just kept telling me they would send the manager and email asking them to call me. Very poorly run location I was at.

Pros: The price was very good.
Cons: It was unsettling to get in a vehicle with a lot of scratches on the body and no inspection done. At drop-off, there was no one there to speak with, just had to drop the key and hope everything was OK. The vehicle was OK - nothing special, Still have not received the final invoice/bill yet and hope they did not add anything on.

Cons: They were not open when I arrived during business hours to pick up the car with my baby.
I had to go back the next day to pick up the car. I was "upgraded" to a Nissan rouge ( not an upgrade ) that smelled like cigarettes.
Not the best experience.

No Transfer from Local to One Way
Cons: THEY would not allow me to transfer from a local rental to the one way rental even hough we were overcharged at the local level. Added hassle of turning in the one to et the other.

Debit card not allowed
Cons: Does not matter if you have enough to cover the cost of the rental 10 times over. Not credit card not rent.
Cons: Prices change at their discretion and there is no complaints department. Had to seek the Better Business Bureau for assistance.

Pros: Very clean car.
Cons: Car had flat tire as soon as we left the airport. We had to put air in it to get it back to airport. Took it back and was told to go fill car up and he would exchange it and cost us $ 5.00 for going 5 miles . Had to drive this vehicle on an almost flat tire to get gas! Didn't get an economy car like we wanted. The other car was a 4x4 that got 20 miles per gallon. He said that was all he had available.A very aggravating experience for us. Shouldn't rent to you if they don't have the car you want available.

Cons: I had to go to an Airport to pick up the car but that was really more of an inconvenience than a sticking point.

Cons: Pickup was awful..had a car reserved,but when I got to the airport it wasn't available so I was stranded in the airport for 3 1/2 hours! Unacceptable!!

Cons: The Lady at the pickup was a snob. And the car itself was not clean.
Pros: The staff was very helpful in the Columbia pick-up location. The car we ended up with was comfortable and ran well. When we encountered problems with the pickup (see other section) the staff was happy to assist me in finding a suitable replacement vehicle.
Cons: We ran into some difficulties with the pick-up in Columbia. Initially, the gentleman helping me didn't think he had a car in the category I had reserved. He did offer me an upgrade to a pickup, but, as I was driving down the entire East Coast, I didn't want to chance luggage in a pickup. He eventually found a car in my category. When he opened the door, the smell of strawberry air freshener was overwhelming. By the time I got home with the car, I could tell why - there was a definite smell of smoke in the car. I called to get a new car, as I was going to have it for a month and wasn't prepared to drive a car that smelled so strongly. They asked me to drive back in with the car and choose one off their lot. I was offered a smaller car, but my luggage wouldn't fit. He then offered me a car that they were still detailing. We did take that one, but it ended up having had cola or some sticky substance sprayed over much of the interior... Hence my rating on cleanliness.
