When considering car hire in Mellieha, there are two great options depending on your travel needs. For solo travellers or couples, a small and nimble car, such as a compact or economy car, is recommended. These vehicles are perfect for manoeuvring through narrow streets and finding parking in crowded areas. They offer excellent fuel efficiency, making them budget-friendly for shorter trips. On the other hand, if you're travelling with a group or have larger luggage, a spacious SUV or minivan would be a better choice.

The speed limits in Mellieha may vary depending on the type of road and location. In built-up areas and residential zones, the speed limit is generally 50 km/h (31 mph). On main roads and rural areas, the limit increases to 80 km/h (50 mph). It's important to adhere to the posted speed limits and adjust your speed accordingly. Be cautious of speed cameras, especially near schools and high-risk zones. Additionally, in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic or narrow roads, there might be lower speed limits for safety reasons. Always remain alert to road signs indicating any specific speed limits.

In Mellieha, there are various parking options available. When visiting the city centre, it is advisable to use the designated public parking lots and parking garages. Some popular parking areas include the Mellieha Bay Car park, Mellieha Village Square Parking, and the parking facility near Ghadira Nature Reserve. While parking in these areas may require a fee, it is generally affordable, with prices ranging from €1 to €2 per hour (that is around £0.85 - £1.70). It's recommended to plan and carry sufficient change for parking fees.
