Also need to state CLEARLY that you need to use a major credit card to even get the rental in the first place.

When visiting Humble, renting a car is the best option when you want to explore the city inexpensively, at your pace and without dragging your luggage around tourist hotspots. Car rentals in Humble also protect your car from the wear and tear associated with driving on unfamiliar or bad roads. If you love the outdoors, The Jesse H. Jones Park Nature Center, Schott Park, Tour 18 Golf Course, Mercer Botanic Gardens and Lake Houston Park will be exciting for you.
When flying to Humble, you will land at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH/KIAH) or William P. Hobby Airport (HOU/KHOU). George Bush airport is six miles from Humble city center. To get to the Car Rental Facility at the airport, take a shuttle outside the Baggage claims area to the car lot four miles away. At William P. Hobby Airport, the car rental lot is a five-minute drive from outside the baggage claim area on the airport’s courtesy bus. The rental car agencies operating from both airports are Enterprise, National, Payless, Budget, Thrifty, Avis, Alamo and Dollar.
Predicting what you will encounter when driving car rentals in Humble is challenging. The town has embraced small-town industries and values, so you can bump into a family on its way to church or a big truck hauling logs. Be vigilant when driving in the town so that you are ready for anything. Defensive driving skills will also come in handy to navigate through crowded streets and narrow roads.
Though Humble is a small city, you might still encounter traffic jams from 7 am to 8 am and 3 pm to 5 pm. To minimize the impact of traffic jams on your drive, plan your drive and consider using a different route. To know which roads you should avoid, use radio traffic reports or GPS tools. You will also encounter traffic if you visit Humble during the Good Oil Days Festival held at Main Street on different dates annually.

Booked the managers choice for car, but when I went to pick it up I was informed it was an electric car and that it needed to be returned with at least 80% charge. As it wasn’t a Tesla, I asked where one could charge near the airport (as we were staying closer to Galveston, it would be an hour+ drive back to the airport) and the desk worker told me they didn’t know. Not wanting to end up paying an undercharged car fee, I was forced to pay more than double at the desk for an economy car. Staff was curt throughout the whole experience.

Hello Thrifty Customer Care, I’m writing to dispute several charges on my recent rental (Vehicle: SIRENCOREGXFW1S, Contract 01621/1279470). Total charged: $537.01 for 2 days at $69.99/day + a $30/day upgrade. Based on the receipt, here’s what I’m contesting: Inter-City Fee – $100.00 The car was picked up at IAH (Houston Intercontinental) on 08/28 and returned to HOU (Hobby) on 08/30. This was within the same metro area and was driven only 239 miles. I was not clearly informed that returning to a different Houston airport would trigger a $100 fee, nor was an alternative offered at pickup. Given the short distance, same-city return, and minimal mileage, I’m requesting a full waiver of this fee as a goodwill/clarity issue. Fuel Purchase Option (FPO) – $36.86 The vehicle left at 97% fuel and was returned at 97% fuel. With the tank returned nearly identical and only 239 miles driven, there was no need for a prepaid fuel purchase. If FPO was added, it was not clearly explained that it’s non-refundable when returning at the same level. Please remove/refund this charge. Concession Fee Recovery 11.11% – $33.33 and VLC/CFC/BUS – $22.81 Please provide the exact base amount used to calculate the 11.11% and a written explanation of each surcharge. The tax base of $466.96 also appears inflated relative to the rental/upgrade subtotal and add-ons. I’m requesting a line-by-line tax/surcharge calculation. LDW – $73.98 (2 × $36.99/day) If LDW was required to obtain the quoted rate, please confirm. Otherwise, note that the overall pricing appears to have increased significantly beyond the expected 2-day rental + upgrade. If LDW was not clearly optional or was auto-selected, I request a courtesy adjustment. To be reasonable, the total should reflect: Base + Upgrade (2 days): $199.98 LDW (if retained): $73.98 Removal of Inter-City Fee ($100) and FPO ($36.86) Corrected surcharges/taxes calculated on the proper taxable base . Please review and issue a refund/adjusted invoice, or provide a detailed written breakdown justifying each contested amount. I appreciate your prompt help—I’m happy to discuss by phone as well.

I had reserved a car ahead of time at least 2-3 weeks prior to my trip! And had paid it for it ahead of time. When we got to the Thrifty rental site, we chose to use the kiosk to sign in since the agents were busy with other customers and thought it would save time. When we checked in the kiosk , at the end of submitting all info we were told it could take several minutes to process our information. At that moment an agent was available and said he could help us but we told him that we had put all info in and we were waiting for the machine to process our information. He said there was nothing he could do to help us. We had to wait. Fortunately we had only to wait only 3-5 minutes. Then we were able to go to another agent who made us go through all the information we had provided at the kiosk! Next we went out to the garage to get our car and thought all was good after a frustrating and lengthy experience at the rental counter. As we were driving out with our car at the exit office our car was scanned and we were told IT WAS NOT RENTABLE!!!! The booth agent then took a marker out and starting writing on the window that car was not rentable and had us back up and drive it back to Thrifty pick up. When we returned to Thrifty pick up, we were told we could not park the car in pickup and had to take it back to drop off! We had not even left rental pick up lot! We parked the car in the pick up lot and had to wait as the pick up agent showed other people to their cars. Finally we were given a car and had no issues leaving the airport. That night was not terribly busy but we had to wait at least an 1hr and 15 min. to leave the airport. I have had way better experiences working with other car rental companies in large airports like Houston and never had to go through this. I will not be using Thrifty again because the service was POOR. The car was clean and comfortable though!

SCAM! I did not get to pick up a vehicle because they required insurance declarations page (not just proof). The additional fees would have been astronomical if I could have picked up a car. The associate refused to give me a refund and barricaded herself in back office and refused to come out. This is a complete and total scam.

There wasn't a clear website or directions to find out how to even get picked up, I had to use gemini. I got a text after my rental started but before I was even picked up to go get the car that they may not have enough cars due to late returns. Not to mention a ton of 1 star reviews for the company on various websites claiming random fee additions, issues with drop off and pick up. I didn't even rent the car, the experience started off so bad I went to the rental counter at the airport and rented from sixt instead.

AVR Houston is not located at the airport. Trying to make arrangements for pickup was a bit challenging. We had an early morning flight and asked about after hours returns. We were told they had a contract with a local hotel for drop off and the hotel shuttle ran every 15 minutes. We arrived at just after 5:00 am at the hotel. The front desk person was on a shuttle run and informed us that the hotel shuttle only ran every hour and we could not leave the hotel until after 6:00 am. We almost missed our flight.

Price gouging at its finest. Refused to let me use my own insurance without charging a fee. Refused to let me use the credit card insurance that covers the rental. This place is unbelievably BAD! No customer service counter, just a phone booth you enter where they tell you the price you paid is not the real price! My flight was delayed and I arrived a few hours later than expected (but still mid-afternoon). Upon arrival, I was told my midsize class vehicle was not available and would be charged for an upgrade. I was also informed my American Express was not an acceptable card issuer. I did not feel comfortable giving the attendant my only other physical card in my wallet (my debit card). He said we would need to stop the process if I didn’t want to upgrade (and use a different card to do it), so I would lose my “spot in the process” and “leave without a rental car.” Bewildered and confused, I called a Uber for the 1 hour drive to destination and figured I would assess from there. Upon leaving, I noticed 5-10 Toyota midsize cars in the rental lot around the back. Altogether a strange and shady experience. Will never return. Hertz it is!

READ MULTIPLE REVIEWS FIRST. There are no physical staff at the location, none, fully dependent on video calling workers which it’s unclear how many are staffed. Will add additional hidden fees regardless of what you pay online, required to use their insurance. Agent said my reservation was no longer valid because I didn’t arrive within the one hour window. I was considered late because of the four booths to speak with someone via video call only one was working and others were waiting in line. The one before me walked out because of the hidden fees. They wouldn’t let me start a new request either, I just missed my pickup window and they couldn’t help me. After arguing with the agent to get any rental, a supervisor approved it so I could proceed. Never seen a company refuse their service/product not because of shortage or high demand but because of their inflexible pickup policy. Rental car was fine and was able to drop off with no issues, but the upfront fees and headaches are not worth it. Mostly 1 star reviews for good reason, the low cost is appealing up front but after the additional fees at pick up it’s no better off than any other rental agency. My experience is just one of many, better off looking anywhere else.

Car was clean..fuel was full…that is the good. I am 77, not good with computers. I have never used the QR code scan. It is confusing. A person was sent at pickup to help. At return on Sunday, I requested a person to help. I was refused help. The agent on phone tried to talk me through .. I was confused. Why cannot a person be AT your facility?. That would be a tremendous help. I will never use your service again. I will also tell others to NOT use your service. VERY UNFRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE. WORST business experience EVER!!!!!

Check-in and drop off is an awful, alienating experience with no in-person customer service. Despite being advertised as terminal pick-up on Kayak, this service is off-airport and requires a third-party shuttle service to get to that is not affiliated with the rental car company. No pick-up instructions were provided, just a call from an unknown number after arriving. Insurance costs and fees for toll pass were not transparent, making rental several times more expensive than expected.

The worst ever. The website does not work to pay insurance, so, I had to pay in their shop. It was much more than the website. Security deposit was not reimbursed yet. Horrible feeling. Kayak is part of this process. Kayak accepts this horrible car rental priceless.
