Celebrity Gurbani Judge – Bani J or VJ Bani as she is popularly called   recently visited this beautiful city. Bani dropped the tourist style plans and chose to explore Hong Kong like a local. The city offers a little something to every kind of traveller – city culture, colonial monuments, arts scene, beaches, world cuisine, shopping and nightlife.

Bani’s first stop was right in the heart of the city at the colonial Old Town Central (OTC). OTC represents the beautiful union of eastern and western influences. As you span the streets of  OTC, you are introduced to rich heritage. It reflects a history of over a 100 years, which co-exists seamlessly with modern architecture and living. Recently transformed into one of the hippest districts in the city, it’s hard not to fall in love with the endless experiences OTC has to offer. From ancient temples, street art, antique stores, restaurants and bars, there are hidden gems to be discovered at every turn.

Next stop was the historic Man Mo Temple, estimated to have been built between 1847 and 1862.  The giant hanging incense coils makes for a pleasant contrast with the hectic pace of the nearby financial district. Not forgetting a plethora of wooden engravings and ancient mural paintings that adorn the vicinity.

Known for her independent spirit, Bani couldn’t resist the temptation to take a leisurely stroll along Hollywood Road. This street features colonial buildings and chic boutiques for the discerning shopper. There, she uncovered some interesting street art and graffiti along the streets and alleyways that cover both Central and Sheung Wan.

Then, her next stop was the eclectic Select 18. It was in that shop that she explored and inspected a treasure trove of charming paraphernalia ranging from vintage spectacles, bags and hats to old radios and vinyl records.

Soon after, the MTV VJ and Bigg Boss finalist visited PMQ. It is formerly known as Police Married Quarters which is home to artwork by upcoming artists and creatives from all around the country.

Here, she caught a glimpse of the creative studios and designer products, and experienced some exhibitions and art workshops.

VJ Bani J sails on the Aqua Luna in Victoria Harbour Hong Kong

Come evening, Bani J boarded the Aqua Luna, the iconic Chinese junk boat with red sails and enjoyed a relaxing cruise along Victoria Harbour. There’s nothing quite like Hong Kong’s famous sunsets that is so synonymous to the city’s identity. Sailing around the gorgeous harbour definitely a refreshing experience for this well-known personality who is constantly on the go.
