FAQs - booking Thailand flights

  • Which airport should I fly to for a holiday by the beach?

Thailand isn’t short of glorious beaches, so you will have your pick of great seaside destinations. For example, you could fly directly to Phuket City Airport (HKT), which has popular beaches like Nai Yang Beach only about a 14min drive away. Alternatively, you could fly to Koh Samui Airport (USM), with a stop at Bangkok Airport, where you will have a pick of beaches.

  • What are popular stopovers on flights from India to Thailand?

You can fly direct from India to Thailand, for example, from New Delhi to Bangkok. However, it’s sometimes more convenient to fly indirect. If you decide to include a stopover in your flight, a common location is Hong Kong Airport (HKG), which is used by Cathay Pacific.

  • What is a suitable airport to fly into to see Pai Canyon?

For those of you that want to explore the north of Thailand, specifically Pai Canyon, you will have to take an indirect flight to Chiang Mai Airport (CNX), which requires a change at Bangkok Airport. You can depart from both Chennai Airport (MAA) and New Delhi Airport (DEL) to take this route. Once you have arrived, you can then take a roughly 2h 30min car journey the rest of the way to the hiking hotspot.

  • Is there internet on flights from India to Thailand?

You can stay in contact with your loved ones, or complete any work, whilst you’re on board flights to Thailand. For example, if you fly with Singapore Airlines, you will have access to Wi-Fi from take-off to touchdown.

  • Are there certain laws I should know when hiring a car from the airport in Thailand?

If you are hiring a car upon arrival at an airport in Thailand, you must abide by the child seat laws. For example, if you have a child under 6 years of age, or who is smaller than 135 cm, they must be in an adequate booster seat.

  • Which airports are hubs for airlines that travel to Thailand?

If you choose to fly from New Delhi Airport (DEL), you will benefit from the fact that Air India uses this terminal as its main hub. This means that you will probably get more regular, direct flights to Thailand at a lower cost per ticket.

  • How long is the flight to Thailand?

An average direct flight from India to Thailand takes 6h 42m, covering a distance of 4179 km. The most popular route is New Delhi - Bangkok with an average flight time of 3h 50m.

  • What is the cheapest flight to Thailand?

The cheapest ticket to Thailand from India found in the last 72 hours was ₹ 6,977 one-way, and ₹ 15,019 round-trip. The most popular route is New Delhi Indira Gandhi Intl to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and the cheapest round-trip airline ticket found on this route in the last 72 hours was ₹ 21,778.

  • Which airlines fly to Thailand?

Thai Airways, IndiGo & ANA fly the most frequently from India to Thailand.

  • What are the most popular destinations in Thailand?

The next most popular destinations are Phuket City (13%) and Koh Samui (1%). Searches for flights to Krabi (1%), to Chiang Mai (0.5%) and to Surat Thani (0.1%) are also popular.

  • How does KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a given destination and date is likely to change within 7 days, so travellers know whether to wait or book now.

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Thailand

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Thailand flight deals.
  • For those that are flying to Thailand to visit several cities, it is a good idea to fly to an airport hub in the country. For instance, if you fly to Bangkok Airport (BKK), you will be able to take connecting flights to many other airports throughout the country.
  • As the journey is relatively long on flights to Thailand, it’s a good idea to ensure that you have food included in the ticket price. For example, on flights from New Delhi Airport (DEL) to Chiang Mai Airport (CNX), you can get food included with Thai Airways. However, if you fly with VietJet Air, you must pay extra for food on board.
  • The main religion in Thailand is Buddhism. So, if you are planning on travelling to the country during a popular religious festival, you might find that prices rise dramatically during this period. For instance, during Songkran Festival, which marks the Thai New Year, many people will be travelling to celebrate with their families.
  • You should be aware that during the Poy Sang Long festival, which is a ceremony that centres around the temples in the north of the country, flight prices are likely to increase. This festival officially lasts three days, but the build-up to it means prices rise early on.
  • When an Indian citizen travels to Thailand, they must ensure that they have a minimum of 30 days remaining on their passport from the date they enter the country. You won’t need to worry about a visa, though, as Indian passport holders will be granted entry to the country for 15 days without one.

The transfer from Domestic and International was a bit confusing but I am easily confused. I did not eat any food, but the food on the other leg was decent. It was nice they turned the lights off on the night flight. The plane was in good shape, but was a little cramped in economy and I am small. They gave me a customs form to fill out and nobody looked at it as I went through customs. Not a bad flight.

We are satisfied with the cabin crew serviceand the quality of meals served.

Lunch Food was tasteful and had variety. Seat was comfortable. However, when I was reserving my seats during booking, the seat configuration showed was 3-3-3, but when I boarded it was a 2-4-2 configuration? Also during booking, I had also bought travel insurance together with my TG booking. However there was no confirmation of my purchase from Allianz and TG. After several emails with TG contact, sales, reservation and Allianz was i able to confirm my insurance purchase. When the policy was issued, the birth dates of me and my wife were wrongly stated and I had to go through another round of emails with Allianz to get it corrected. Otherwise any claims would be void! It was indeed not a very good booking experience!

Check in was a disaster. 90 minutes and only 2 economy check in desks open. Had to rush to catch the flight.

I couldnt go on this flight and lost all my money over 1,000 UK Pounds as my visa to Myanmar was not accepted :(

Thai Airways is one of the best airlines in the business. Looking forward to fly again with them.

After going back and forth with the airline, they never reimbursed the airline tickets. Went around asking multiple people how to get reimbursed and kept getting put back, not satisfied with their customer service.

No working jet bridge to deplane, with priority customers deplaning last. Followed by bus to terminal.

Efficient like all the other flights with them. An outstanding budget airline!

Excellent service. departed on time, and arrived ahead of schedule. The whole restrictions around no food/drink is a bit weird even with Covid. Also, no mobiles and iPad use during takeoff and landing is very 2006!

a real good flying experince. Everything was excellent right from check-in to baggage collection at destination.

Food is tasting bad, and it is a fusion but not authentic.

Excellent experience and now my preferred airline. Even a fantastic meal with dessert in a 2 hour flight.

off late the crew and the air in the flight is becoming that of a budget airline not the earlier Vistara .

It wasn't clear from where to board flight international or domestic Airport

Information was not clear from where to check in international or domestic Airport at Ahmedabad.

The deplaning experience was bad, since they did not get the aerobridge at Madras on arrival and the bus felt like a local train during office hour rush

i bought a biz class fare but a few days before vistara always changes my biz class flight to economy .. happened to me 4 times .. seated could be wider .. boarding could be more organized .. crew did their best but not enough resources all in all very poor experience

Qatar said few times that the luggage will be at the final destination but they were wrong. Please check where your port of entry is at the destination. This is where the luggage would be. The food was terrible.

Comfortable seats, service, food and responses of crews member was polite and way they were talking with customer was very professional.

Airline cancelled our flight purchased through kiwi.com 2 months before travel and to date has inly refunded half of our paid ticket price.

Crew was nice, boarding efficient. VERY cramped seating. I'm a 5 ' 10'' slim woman and my knees were up against the seat in front of me and my arms were against the arm rests. There are no services, not even water, and they only take local currency and I didn't yet have Thai baht ( flying from Indonesia and no rupiah left). I won't choose to fly with this line again.

Good, no mini-tv's, no food unless you pay, good overall experience.

CNX is a filthy, poorly kept airport. I have heard that Thailand plans to build another airport in San Kampaeng area, so perhaps they are just letting this one go. But it makes every airline look badly to offer their service in such a poorly organized "dump". Sorry to say this, but that's what it's like. At least the AirAsia flight which I took was on time! I appreciate that.

Air Asia will be my choice of airline when I fly to Asia every 6 to 8 weeks. Thank you for your good service.

I really like air Asia. The flights are running very professionally and both of my flights this last time got in early. Planes were clean. The staff was very professional and helpful. I understand they were supposed to be a budget airline but they don’t act like they’re a budget airline.

Landing to Hanoi in time Seat not reclining -Cabin design very dull

Cons: "They do not necessarily seat minor children with their parents. Much bigger fight to get them to seat families together, which should be standard practice in the age of COVID. Below average legroom. Much less than in America and elsewhere."
Pros: "Comfortable seats, clean plane. On time."
Cons: "The crew just sat in the back. They practically did nothing. Recommend you offer pillows and blankets on night flights."

As usual invariably delayed Lots of time in getting chkd in baggage

Staff needs to be trained in managing customers better. Indigo appears to be a low cost airlines in all aspects.

Flight was delayed and also lots of mosquitoes on the flight

Two times the gate was changed and flight got delayed

INDIGO Never On Time & Always Prefer to Shuttle Passengers Like shuttle Corks

I did not like the communication gap existing amongst the staff and the customer. My flight to Nagpur was delayed by two and half hours but it was informed to me on email ( not by W.A. or SMS) when I have already left my home in Baner area. I was painfully detained at airport with luggage when the gate no. 10 was changed to 5. I'll never recommend your flight to anybody.

Seats don't recline, no charging points. New aircraft and very clean. Crew should serve some water atleast.

Wife and I were seated in separate seats across the aisle

There was inordinate delay without any plausible reason. This has become a normal feature of Indigo now a days.

Flight was inordinately delayed, which has become normal with Indigo. Crews were inattentive. After landing there was a lot of time for arrival of chek in baggage

Very very impressed with the proactive care and alertness with which ABHISHEK Chowdhary took care of us. Quietl, dignified , very alert, and meticulous. Very impressed. Also with SUNiL Kumar who was there for us in a very helpful way. SHERLY ALEX On Flight 119, BOM TO JFK CUSTOMER ON SEAT 21C, 21ST March 2024

If you are traveling to mumbai -- must try SFO - MUM direct flight. It's a game changer when you are traveling to India. Timings are well designed, optimal and makes the travel enjoyable.

On time boarding, proper information, friendly and cordial approach of staff, particularly crew members and the most important timely available of checked in baggage after arrival.

Air India needs to launch new planes. Seats are worn out, most of the plane's TV screens wasn't working, USB charging ports wasn't working as well so I can charge my phone & watch my download movies, Food was mediocre, the plane smells. How can Air India put through their customers with this bad experience? This complaint needs to get escalated to the upper management. How shameful is the upper management to improve this plane? The flight is going back & forth from NEW YORK & DELHI. Two of the big cities in the world and this is how your experience is for sitting in a plane for 12+ hrs? Get your planes fixed ASAP Air India (TATA Management do your job right).

One of my worst experiences. Nothing was working in the flight. Entertainment system was broken, seat was very uncomfortable, crew did not offer water until food was provided, lights were not working, attendant call was not working. In short everything was broken and duct taped.

Air India need a big change of in all departments.

Boarding and crew were nice Food was normal No entertainment was on the flight. Neither TV screen was there nor Wi-Fi connection to the mobile phone or iPad was there. Even the budget wing of AIR INDIA ie AIR INDIA EXPRESS provided us Wi-Fi connectivity on our mobile phone in their DOMESTIC SECTOR. So not providing Wi-Fi connectivity on international flight was unthinkable.

Old aircraft, crew were so so. Meals were mediocre. Flight to delhi was delayed. Lounge needs update and was mediocre too.

The aircraft was very old, felt like poor economy seats. Entertainment was not working. Plug point was broken. For the coat of a business class ticket, I was very disappointed and dissatisfied. Crew on flight to Mumbai were good, on way back they were mediocre

Bathrooms were horrible and no cleaning. Announced baggage claim carousel as one but came to a different one. People were waiting
