Pros: Car was newer than most, comfortable and ready when I got there.
Cons: Customer service woman was grumpy though efficient. There was no way to make notes of previous damage done to the car. The placemats had been taken out and Bluetooth was not available on the radio.

Pros: Car very nice
Cons: Drop off location I requested was not the drop off I got. Was very inconvenient to drop off in Kenvil instead of Hacketstown.

Pros: Easy pick-up/drop-off. Convenient access to Budget office via Newark Skytrain. Surprised by lack of assistance in locating car and checking out of the lot. Decent car make/model in great working condition.
Cons: Car was dirty at pick-up. Stained seats, dirt on the floor. Poor value for the money spent.

Pros: The service was fine; the workers were very nice.
Cons: I got charged for random late fees that even the people there didn't understand, and I don't have time to fight it. So it just leaves me feeling like I was cheated.

Good car, sounded like a good deal but when I drop
Pros: Car was good
Car was clean
Wait time at Newark was only 5-10 mins
Cons: 3 hours late to drop off the car due to a mishap and I was charged 1 full day of $137 extra! That was a rip off! I feel cheated.

Use a debit card and you will be judged
Pros: The car was clean and energy efficient.
Cons: The pickup process was lengthy, and the Budget agent made a big deal about our wanting to use a debit card to pay for the transaction. She brought up the notion that they would perform a credit check and If our credit wasn't up to their standards, they would reject our request for a car rental. This was a very negative, uncomfortable conversation as it seemed like the agent had already assumed our credit was unworthy. My boyfriend finally just handed over a credit card to end the unpleasant interaction. I have not encountered this attitude at other rental companies such as Enterprise.

Pros: Easy to pick up at Newark, nice and clean car.
Cons: it was dark, so it was difficult to check the car for issues. There were none.
Cons: Didn't have compact vehicle, and then charge me for an upgrade.
Someone some me useless insurance.
Called three times, nobody pick up.

Pros: the low price
Cons: the front passenger tire blew out while I was driving and the spare had a leak so it would not hold air. got a trade in and the tires on it were also poor. bad air leaks. the maintenance people are not checking to see if tires are good to put on cars. sales people did not care about my complaints and did nothing to make me want to come back. no discounts or refunds. bad customer service.

Cons: They have added ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE PLAN without any notification. When I initially booked, mu time and mileage fee was quoted as $183.00 for the 15 days. Instead Payless, charged me $313.And also they added Road side assistance plan.When I called them to cancel this optional plan with phone I could not reach them.

Worst rental car company ever
Pros: Didn't like anything
Cons: The manager was rude and when I tried to pick up a confirmed rental, I was told there were no cars. I had a confirmation number, but she said that couldn't help me. This was the Payless rental at Newark airport. Went to the next counter and rented through budget. Don't book with them!

Who are the clowns operating this half-baked rental car business out of Newark Airport? I'm guessing they're evil, whoever they are.
When I arrived to claim my reserved car they lied about what my original reservation details were so that they could try to up-sell me into a more expensive contract. Try to get your head around that?
The attendant was so rude, she wouldn't make eye contact, and she lectured me with her idiotic company-fed lines until finally accepting that the scam wasn't going to work on me.
I eventually got my car as reserved, but it stank like smoke.

Lost & Cancelled Reservation
Pros: I liked the initial feeling that this was going to go well based on the efficient booking process on Kayak. This was very short lived.
Cons: My reservation was lost, and then when my partner attempted to get any information using all of the reservation info that I passed along to him (and offering to have them call me directly, or me call them), he was told that there was nothing that he could do. Then, they "found" the reservation by looking under a code for another airport and alerted him that they had no cars left even though we attempted to notify them and modify the reservation/late pickup. Once told they had absolutely no cars, we both again looked online and immediately found that we were able to reserve the same car at the same price. When we showed that to the counter help, they sighed and said that yes they did have cars, but it would be "like, 45 minutes" until they were ready at the earliest. None of this really made sense, but I wasn't exactly approaching this budget car rental situation with that expectation. Luckily, my partner was able to make a separate reservation, and then "spend time at Dunkin Donuts" until the car was "ready" as directed. I did end up paying for a car rental insurance agreement for both times I attempted to book, and not for the actual rental that took place. Silver lining though - we didn't get any additional damage charges while risking the lack of round 3 insurance!

Great drop off experience
Pros: The car was a mess from my 2yr old and the young man who took my car was great. He helped me unload and made me feel better about leaving him with a mess.
Great service, poor automobile and pickup procedur
Pros: Great pickup personnel at desk and with drop off. The car they gave me was not in the space they told me, it was parked next to it in overflow parking. I got all the way packed, inspected and to the gate before someone told me I was in wrong car. Cost me an hour to get it straightened out.
Cons: See above to start. The car was in poor shape. Banged up rear fender and missing hub cap. It had almost 31,000 miles on it.

Outside service awful
Pros: Free upgrade to larger, nicer car.
Cons: After inside paperwork was done, was told to go outside and find attendant. Finally found her texting someone in one of the cars at which point she took my paperwork, examined the the parking spot and led me to a nice car. Unfortunately it was the wrong one, discovered by the gate agent. Took me another 45 mins to get out of lot. Upon check in, the attendant was absent again, finally found her texting again in another car.

Worst rental ever
Cons: Customer service and rules are aweful.
I reserved a car with this company cuz it was cheaper and spent 20$ for taxi to get ther but wasn't able to pick it up because have been told that I have to have my own insurance even can't buy it from them therefore didn't get qualified even tho there was no mention of it on confirmation. How can I have insurance or what am I going to do with that if don't have a car, that's why I'm renting it. So I ended up paying triple price of what I suppose to pay with reservation.

Pros: The car was clean and what we expected
Cons: The price on the booking did not reflect the final amount paid. Taxes and other fees were not including in the booking leading to a wrong comparison with other possibilities.

Pretty Poor Customer Service
Pros: Car was cheap

Car had a lot of dents and scratches
Aggressive in suggesting insurance and coverage
Cons: The inspection tags are three months expired
The price was almost $100 more after a bunch of random fees were added in

Cons: The 90 minute wait, the poor condition of car (including broken AC) never received key so couldn't restart and car was towed without my consent- with my stuff still inside and wasn't given new car for full day (but charged for full time)

Too many unnecessary fees
Pros: New, clean car. Returning was easy enough I guess.
Cons: I feel like they are dishonest with regard to fees. They upsell insurance hard and it's not needed for almost everyone. Also, they charge an absurd amount to use EZ-pass which is very convenient in the tristate area. Ridiculous and inconvenient.
Other rental companies don't charge for EZ-pass (including zipcar).

Pros: When I went to the assigned space the car wasn't there. An employee was driving by and stopped immediately and got me a different car and sent me on my way with very little delay and was extremely nice and helpful. He was great and made me happy to use Thrifty again in the future, he was a perfect example of good customer service.
Cons: The ladies' bathroom was not very nice with one of the toilets clogged and the floor was wet.

Cons: Horrible experience with Thrifty. Had to wait an hour for the car. Had to call customer care and connect to manager. The lady at the counter won't let me talk to the manager. Never renting again through thrifty at JFK.

Pros: Right off the P2 stop of the air train. Car was fairly new
Cons: The car had 33k and had several scratches and a horrible road noise, like a wheel bearing was bad and it wandered on the road. The Parking lot and the area around there in general looks like a war zone. The employees are all busy texting on their phones, very unprofessional.

Pros: The line wasn't too bad when I picked up my car and when I returned it I had only driven about 30 miles and they didn't even ask to see the receipt to prove I had filled the car before returning!
Cons: Banged up car, squeeky brakes, jerky transmission.

Poorly done both Ace and Kayak
Cons: We made a car reservation through Kayak with Ace for a pick up in the 7 pm hour. Upon arrival, we found the office closed at 630 pm. This cost us a great deal of extra money as we needed to make other arrangements last minute. Very poorly done both Ace and Kayak! This was near the Newark Airport, we travel a great deal and expect rental companies to be open when we have a reservation.

Cons: not even 15 minuets after picking up the van we got stop by the cops. the cops took away the van for expire registration. we could not believe it .we left Ace a message as soon as it happen. they didn't get back to us after 10 am the next day by that time we had to cancel the trip. we are hoping they are going to refund us the money. not happy at all.
