Pros: Everything was great. The car was clean and reliable. The staff were friendly and helpful! And the price was very reasonable! Overall impressed!

Overcharged with no explanation.
Pros: My experience was fine until I received my bill. I was quoted $283. 80 for a rental from Dec 22-Jan 1, 2017. My bill was 438.76. I was supposedly given a USAA upgrade, fee waived, by the Hertz associate, but this is not the case. I would like to talk to customer service at the earliest opportunity. Cons: Hertz did not find my reservation. I had to pay $120 with Avis to find a car. Not sure what happened, but I'd like an explanation from Hertz + Kayak

Terrible customer service
Pros: Cheap, fuel efficient
Cons: Rude customer service agent at pick up. Kept asking to upsale me into an SUV when I clearly told him I was looking for fuel economy on this trip.
At drop off we arrived 3 minutes after close, but before the employee had left. I realized I was going to have to use the drop box and tried to ask him what I needed to do, but all he would say is that I had to pay an extra day and marched off. I had to call customer service to get the full details on what info they needed from me for the drop box. They weren't very helpful, but it got done. Now I'm stuck paying an extra day for a car I no longer have because I was 3-4 minutes late, despite Hertz website stating there is a 29 minute grace period for drop off.

Information provided by Kayak was wrong
Cons: On our confirmation docs it said they were open until 6pm, we showed up at 5pm and they were close. This killed the first 2 days of our trip. You should compensate us for that.

Cons: The location for pick up was closed when we arrived and the staff there was unable/unwilling to assist us. Spent an additional two hours trying to get a rental car through another hertz. Will never use them again.

Pros: The associate that assisted me out of Portland was extremely friendly and helpful with his recommendations. It was largely beneficial for our road-trip. Drop off was hassle free.
Cons: Having to pay for a drop off fee in another state. I get it. But it definitely hit the wallet hard. I also did not know that I needed a credit card over a debit card. Luckily I brought one, however, I typically do not and that would have been a very unexpected and unhealthy charge elsewhere.
Cons: I rented a car, reservation confirmed, only to have them tell me they could not rent to me when I showed up due to some obscure charge for $114 from 4 years ago. They could not tell me what the charge was, nor let me pay it to get the car. They said their accounting department had to fix it and that they were closed on the weekends (when they do their most business). They made me walk 4 blocks in the pouring rain with my luggage to Avis who did not have any cars to rent. I then had to Uber back to the airport, and pay 3x the original rate from Hertz. On top of all that, Enterprise still billed me for the car I never rented.

Pros: Good vehicle, worked properly and looked nice
Cons: The place where we were supposed to pick up our car closed 30 mins early. This forced us to go to another location - 20 mins away - to pick up the car and also pay AN ADDITIONAL $5 since it was from an airport. It was either pay the $5 or forfeit the rental.
The customer service rep even asked if I was sure if the place was closed. Yes, pitch black office with a locked gate.

Pros: I accidentally picked the wrong car location, but the Avis Rep fixed my error and helped upgrade my rental choices. Great job Avis Portland Airport!

Close too soon
Pros: Price was great. $168 for 5 days for Nissan Altima
Cons: Said they close at 6:00 PM. I arrived at 6:00 and they were already closed. They were there but wouldn't open the door.
Cost me $35 in Uber fees from the airport and back. Then I had to rent a car for one day at the airport that cost me $128.
Defeated the whole plan to rent off site to save money.

Pros: Liked being able to rent away from the airport and avoid all those stupid airport taxes and fees.
Cons: Didn't like that rental guy was the only one taking calls and customers and couldn't fully explain how "keyless" works, or what the battery and fuel gauge had to do with each other (I misread the battery charge as an empty tank.) Also the headlight location? He should have had the time to explain some of the controls since I've never driven a hybrid before.
Pros: Pick up and drop off and shuttle employees were all fun, friendly and courteous while maintaining a professional demeanor!

Pros: Good service, fine almost new VW Jetta, easy tank fill up close by.
Cons: Only agency open on Thanksgiving was at the airport, and then was a 15 minute shuttle.

Pros: easy drop off at the airport and good price
Cons: picked up at a place in town; we were 30 min late to pick up the car and it was not ready. Had to wait for her to wash it and clean it before we could get it. Car was still soaking wet when we drove off.

Pros: Where we ended up getting car it was an excellent experience
Where we dropped off the car it was an excellent experience
Cons: We booked a rental st PDX but when we arrived at Budget pick up at airport was told this wasn't the location and had to get taxi to the correct location away from airport. The clerk told us that this is happening more often cause to get cheapest rate Kayak redirected pick up to cheaper location away from airport.
