Princeton is a college town and home to Princeton University since 1756. As one of the earlier settlements during the Colonial days, the city saw a lot of activity between British and Colonial troops during the War of Independence. Tourists interested in history can visit Historic Morven, which was the residence of one of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence and Princeton Battlefield State Park, the site of one of the worst battles during the Revolutionary War. The university offers two distinctive museums one of natural history that includes a dinosaur exhibit and the other that features over sixty thousand pieces of art. Nature lovers will enjoy checking out Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve and the Herrontown Woods with walking paths and cross country skiing.
