According to legend, the city of Paducah was settled by the infamous Chief Paduke, who’s hospitality lead settlers to not only build a community in the area, but to construct their new homes directly across the creek from the Chief’s wigwam. When you break it down, if a Chief’s going to be that cool with you and your pals, you might as well ask him if you can possess the adjacent creek land. And that’s exactly what Paducah settlers did— they inhabited the adjacent creek land and settled Paducah.
