The Herreshoff Castle is located in Marblehead's "Old Town" scenic Crocker Park area, steps from the waterfront, the Boston Yacht Club, and the public Landing. The Castle is a reproduction of Erik the Red's tenth century Viking Castle in Greenland. The Castle is made of stone, with parapets, turrets and gothic windows and doors. The Carriage House is located next to the Castle and has been converted into a one-unit Bed & Breakfast facility. The Carriage House affords lots of privacy for our guests. This two-story all-stone structure has its own private entrance, and contains a living room, galley kitchen and bathroom on the first floor, and a bedroom with full bed on the second floor with a stone fireplace and a dramatic wood-planked cathedral ceiling. Gothic doors and stained glass windows adorn the structure, with carousel horses and antiques used as accents. Included with the Carriage House is a courtyard area for dining, reading and relaxing. Perennial gardens, gargoyles and griffins surround the courtyard. In addition to Medieval charm, the Carriage house includes telephone, air conditioning and cable TV. To coin a phrase,"the Carriage House offers 'Old World' charm with 'New World' convenience in 'Old Town' Marblehead."
