Pros:Convenience of location within walking distance to activities/ museums
Pros:conveniently located in Crowne Center. Near Power & Light. Otherwise, VERY little good to speak of here.
Cons:Hotel is rundown and in desperate need of an upgrade. Hole in the wall behind doorknob, haphazardly spackled over. Iron+ironing board hanging off of wall, screws falling out of old drill holes. Bathroom was clean enough, but because of out of date fixtures and water damage to the walls/ceiling, it FELT dirty. Bedding had cigarette burns in very old sheets/comforter. Pillows were flat and beyond their time. Worst of all, I was on the ground floor, and the window, which faced a dark parking garage, would not lock. Anyone could crawl in at their leisure. I ended up changing clothes for the evening, then taking ALL my personal belongings back to my car, bringing them ALL back in with me when I returned for the night. During the night, I was kept awake until 4am because of what i presume was staff repeatedly slamming the door to a service closet next to my room. Seriously, it opened and slammed shut about once a minute until almost 5am. I had an 8-hour drive the next day, which I completed with less than 3 hours of sleep. Overall, the stay was one of the worst I've ever experienced, and I hate that I dropped close to $100 for it. Abysmal.
Pros:Good used refrigerator and microwave.
Cons:Upon entering the hotel, I noticed the lobby door was wide open, along with all the lobby windows. The date was June 3. The high for the day was about 82 degrees, and it was quite warm in the reception/lobby area, but I thought nothing of it, until we started walking to our room, one the second floor (220). All the hallway windows were also open, and just as warm. This is in the middle of Kansas City, surrounded by asphalt, concrete and big, tall buildings. I still thought it was fine... Then we opened the door to our room. It was almost like entering a sauna without the steamy benefit. We immediately turned on the air conditioner, left it on 60 degrees to make sure it would be nice and cool when we came back 7 hours later from an outdoor concert that night. When we came back, the air conditioner was still going, but it definitely wasn't even slightly cold in the room. I'd guess about 76-78 degrees, since we keep our house at 72 and it was absolutely warmer than that, but not even a comfortable cool, and the AC would go off for a minute, then kick back on, never quit trying. Part of the problem with the air was the drapes hung slightly over the vent, so I took the small ironing board and placed it against the window to hold back the drapes, which helped just a little bit. The biggest problem, because this was the smoking room suite with hot tub, was the air was directly hitting the 4 foot tiled wall (why it's there, I haven't a clue) that was between the hot tub and the AC unit. That wall was definitely cold, but the rest of the room got hardly any of that air for the rest of the night. It was about 3 am when we were comfortable enough, wearing jut a muslin shirt which barely covered my hips, and my fiancée wearing just his briefs, were able to feel the need for just the sheet to cover us. The bed was of average comfort, although we're used to our memory foam mattress. One pillowcase had a corner that was completely burned off. Since it was so warm in the room, we couldn't even make ourselves use the hot tub we paid good money to have and searched high and low for a room with. And, they only serve the free breakfast from 7 am to 9 am, but a little after 8, my fiancée went down to get a plate and he said there was little juice left, no milk, and nothing but a few muffins out. So, if you feel like spending $120 a night for a hot tub you won't use in a hot room, sleep on a huge, but uncomfortable bed, then have to go elsewhere for breakfast... This is the place for you! But, I doubt anyone is willing.
